Vehicle Health sending problems
Lex Talionis replied to jpeckinp's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I had to delete my phone from Sync and pair it again at one point in the beginning to get it too work. Did you try that? As well, I wonder if success can be dependent on their website/internet setup since the report goes there as well, and is emailed to you, and if that fails a connection, maybe the entire report is hosed? -
That makes total sense, funny thing is that I have had it close down on things in the past and not auto reverse. I suspect it might be size dependent to a degree as both items it closed on were kind of small and not as big as, say, a human body or box or bike wheel. Also kind interesting is it seems they would have put an 'open' sensor for lack of a better word. That is, a few times I have accidentally opened the gate while my bike rack is on, so it bumps into the rack (thank God I padded the rack in places ahead of time as I feared I might forget and do this) and it does not auto close back up. As well, if I park just right at the apex of my drive with the car partially in the garage and open the gate, it hits my garage door and stays up hard against the door in the up position, no auto reverse. Point is, an auto reverse in both directions makes sense to a degree, not just in the closed motion. But I do recall the salesman showing that if he stood under the gate while it was closing, it would bonk him on the head and open back up.

UPDATE: so, I made some progress.. I opened the lift gate via the key FOB, then removed fuse 14 (3rd up from bottom far left column), then manually closed the gate, then put fuse back in, then opened with dash button/key FOB/trunk button (tried all 3 options) and now I do not get the 3 dings anymore when the gate finishes opening and only get the 3 dings when the gate is in the closing process

Any new LED buying sites?
Lex Talionis replied to scootertoo21's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
well, I have always gotten best prices and shipping and all my bulbs and sizes from http://stores.shop.ebay.com/US-Home-Direct__W0QQ_armrsZ1 He has got a LOT of variety and I have done all inside bulbs, puddle lamps, license plates, etc. -
okay... now I am involved as it just started for me! So I was on a long vacation (10 days in Colorado) and drove out and back with my bikes. Thus, I turned off the auto open gate feature as it hits my bike rack. So, for 10 days it was off. I turned it back on today and now, it dings 3 times at the end of the fully raised position (and 3 times before it comes down - which is normal).. As we know, it should be 3 times on the way up and on way down. So now... I need to figure out WTH is going on. It is very coincidental that this started after having the feature turned off for a while and back on. Need to get the brain thinking about this one and see if it can be solved.

Ford OEM Bumper Prot - POS
Lex Talionis replied to jimmc42's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
know it is a little late, but search on the "bumper protector" (here is 1 of the better ones) topic and you will see lots on the available - albeit very few options - the rear bumper protectors. you could have seen how thin they are and others comments on them as being pretty... minimal -
Driving with the windows down
Lex Talionis replied to ixlar8's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
oh man, Kanatronic is gonna have a fit that you are actually breathing outside air anyway, did you open the BAMR to comfort position? assuming you have the BAMR? -
um.. didn't anyone tell you it is summer time

I would be curious to see an install photo.. you had to fab your own bracket? so, did you really notice a difference on your Expedition? How long was it installed on the Expedition? are they not like 50-60k life filters? I wonder how this will effect the warranty - assuming you still have one - since it is way outside their spec if you have some issue and have to take it in.

I hate to say it, but I do not know for sure I have done a lot of mods, and some electronic intensive mods, but this is not one. IIRC, it is not just as simple as "jumping wires", but in fact, you might need a module to bring it back on line. This will depend on what you installed. In this case, I can only offer these 3 steps, with #1 being your best bet I believe: 1. contact the member securinu - he sells and installs such adapters http://www.aboutsecurityconcepts.com/ is his website 2. this guy claims to know a thing or 2: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=3298 3. search for "steering wheel" and you will see several topics relative to this issue good topic that kind of points to what I thought.. there are several threads that elude to the fact an adaptor is needed to being them back on line http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=3564 this is about the best I can offer, hope it helps & gets you on the right path

Installing Backup Camera
Lex Talionis replied to cjbates's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
well.. generally speaking.... depends on your system. In most cases, you hook to the reverse so that power only hits the camera when in reverse. Why run the camera all the time when you can only access it when in reverse on your HU and see the image. BUT, if you have some HUs (like above) where you could flip to see the camera while driving, then constant power would be good. That is cjbates could do. In my case, I can only see it when in reverse, so I hook to reverse bulb as no need for constant power.. -
I think the only thing you can do is take a sketch + measurements of the Edge bumper and keep them handy and when you see something like the Murano, measure it up and compare. I bet you can find one from another maker. It just may be a PITA to get done. But, so many cars have a similar style and curve rear.. something else has got to fit.

care to show some photos or details of what you did and how you did it?

2oo8 Limited With Custum Trims Plus Bra Pictures
Lex Talionis replied to MarkEdge's topic in Welcome Forum!
nice.. lots of chrome kit extras there also. not a big bra fan. never understood them. like dash covers. covering a piece of the car to keep it nice looking so that.... no one can ever see it is nice looking... because it is covered and will always be -
yes, I am coming to that conclusion... but I am doing you one better.. this is now my daily attire.. certainly do not want to breath 1 single fresh air particle seeing as it is apparently so deadly - even though the statistics do not exist for all the horrible deaths attributed to dirty air in your cars cabin
-
yep, I get it to a degree. I think it was a bigger issue on the 07 Edge and there was some changes they made in 08 IIRC. search on that topic and you will see some topics on it. I do do not anything about it personally.
-
you know, I think Ford makes a kit to light that area up actually. an interior accent light kit. see this for some info
-
well yeah.. wear around a paper breather over your mouth for a few months and you will see the same result in the end. icky "black mess". So sure, will a filter catch stuff if you put it in a place between an air flow to catch stuff? well sure it will. does it matter at the end of the day in the larger scheme of things given you step out of you car and spend any time outside in comparison? I say, no.

How hard to change Ford emblem on liftgate?
Lex Talionis replied to Tom Champagne's topic in Exterior & Body
I have not read anyone doing it here BUT, I can tell you, you could access it by taking off the inside panel to get access to the metal frame - and that panel pops right off so you could pull it and have a peak. But, it is kind of an awkward placement of the nuts you need to get to IIRC it is kind of a tight fit between the 2 skins that make up the metal frame of the boot. I checked it out when I installed my rear camera, but I did not pay a ton of attention, just saw where it was and I recall it being possible. mine is also scratched, the blue color, and I just let it go for now. -
My ears! How do you turn off the alarm?
Lex Talionis replied to Phoenix's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
huh? plus, you just replied to a post that was over a year old -
I do not need convincing.. as that thread shows. as we are on the same side on this one I can own a gun, but not adjust my navi while driving
