  1. hey thanks... I kind of gave up the idea after talking with CF as I care, but only cared on about a level 3 of 10, so I just moved on. I will be curious to see what/if Kanatronic actually does. BTW, I will be in OC on Sat racing the OC Mud Run
  2. nice.. great post/idea. post up some details and photos for your MKX, it should be pretty darn easy mod for others to follow. if my '08 Edge had these, I would do it right now.
  3. I considered doing this a bit back as I felt similar to you. I am not a bass head, but felt I wanted.. a bit more than the Audiohpile system was coughing up for bass response. So, I talked to Crutchfield (IIRC your not as much of a fan of them as I am), but nevertheless their techs were saying that to do a new after-market sub you would really have to do a new amp. they claim you need at least 100 watts to an after market sub to "keep from damaging them".. anyone know how many watts our 190 watt Audiophile amp sends to the current stock sub? is that 190 watts spec of the Audiophile peak power? they are talking about 4 ohm 2 voice coil is stock but in the end, really recommended not even fussing with it unless you also changed the amp at the same time as the subs are so reliant on the amp, versus speakers, the differenced noticed in swapping out would be negligible given what we are working with as stock. thoughts?
  4. I like the front end, but it is reminiscent of the Audi Q7/Q5
  5. did you turn that little roll knob accidentally on the left side dash that can adjust all the interior lights?
  6. bad ground? 9 speakers are 2 in each door (2x4) + the sub = 9
  7. there are posts here and at SYM all about the discrepancy in pricing. some, like my dealer, just offered it free recently so I took it. shop around, see what you can get, but there is no rhyme or reason.
  8. more like that Buick that Tiger Woods drives?
  9. the front dome light entire unit pulls right down and exposes the wires. you might read this as a start as it could help you with wire color choices?
  10. bwa ha ha I call that having O.C.D. - I know how that goes very cool project. I wish there was an easier way. Not that I couldn't do it, but it does sound like a bit much. I hope you bought a quality LED string of lights as I would hate to have to swap it out if one goes bad as Lord knows, I have already changed a few bad LED bulbs. BTW, where did you get the string of LEDs?
  11. very cool! 1-of-a-kind there. I dig them, and yes, I love the Audi lights as well. So, how did you get into the actual body of the lights? what did you use to adhere the LED string to the lights? how are you powering the LED lights, what did you tie into? did you cut to fit the string, it happened to be the right size, or you have extra lights sticking into your engine bay?
  12. I have run thousands of miles since the update and never once been asked if I want to run a report. did you check the setup menu and see if there is an option for prompting or some sort of interval timer reminder? I do not recall, but I thought there was a Mileage Interval and maybe that is set and that is the reminder?
  13. anyone? anyone? 8p looks to be the last update we might get for the 2007-08 model since Navteq is no longer making them as it looks Ford is not ordering them (or never paid their bills, whatever the reason) - since Navteq only makes them when Ford orders them they told me long ago. UPDATE: the rumor is that Ford is sourcing DVD maps from a new vendor now... I wonder if that only helps 2009+ people and what it means for 07-08 owners??
  14. you might get lucky and find someone selling it on eBay? I know that you can often find 4p, 6p, etc.. I know your 2009 uses a different DVD, but point is, unless you can find someone with a 2009 willing to make you a DVD copy, that might be your best bet? interesting that Navteq and Ford parted ways.. but also sucks as that leaves any updates for us all up in the air
  15. your correct.. the powers that be edited some posts out, damn, there was some good stuff there also
  16. my original mod: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=2325 the improved way: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=797 I did both.. both work, I stuck with the 2nd version
  17. dont thank me just yet.. watching your situation unfold makes me think we may not be out of the woods just yet time will tell
  18. If you read back over some of the existing LED bulb threads, there will be part numbers and info you might need to install them as some, for some people in some cases, require using resistors. I cannot recount all that here as it is a ton of info and already covered in detail - so I would read those threads as it might save you a bit of hassle. Also, the puddle lamp mod is not for the faint of heart as it requires cutting and modifying plastic housings - again, you can read elsewhere on that IF you want to tackle it. Most other bulbs are plug and play though. What I can give you is my part numbers/titles for bulbs my 2008 Edge from that eBay dealer: 1 rear trunk cargo area: Super white 9-LED 39mm festoon bulb 2 front map lights AND License plate bulbs: Super White T10 6-Led 194-168 wedge bulbs 3 rear dome/map lights: Super White 6-LED 36mm festoon bulb (AND 2 home made puddle lamps 6418/1036) 2 retro fit factory puddle lamp bulbs: Super White 9-LED 30-32mm festoon bulb
  19. wow... your using all possible inputs.. 2 USB items, 1 BT item, and the available Line In all at once.. I find I never use the BT as I do not keep music on my phone, Line In - well, that is to lo-fi & no charging or control with it as all I have are ipods
  20. Hey Druck.. say, I did not respond to your actual manual steps - or try them - since my posted fix worked for me and that came before your post on the shop manual steps. You then posted your shop manual steps, which are, just so happens, similar to what I happened to do out of logical next step in trouble shooting, so I never went on to try yours as I was good to go so saw no reason to try those as well since I got mine back on track. So it was not me disregarding your posted steps as you might think (?), I just had no reason to try them - nor comment on them then - since I go mine working before your post, and they were virtually identical steps. Make sense? Maybe you meant BalzedUp did not follow your shop directions since he is still having issues?
  21. okay.. so the "pulling the fuse" reset method from yesterday got it so it stopped chiming when fully opened? Agreed? But then, you further tested the system by disabling the gate open option via the dash menu? SO now it is (1) back to chiming at full open and (2) opens despite being disabled? odd... I would naturally try the "pulling the fuse reset method" once again, see if it goes back to working like it did before (no chime at fully open) and if it does, I would try one more time to disable it via the dash and see if, once again, it reverts to the odd behavior of back to chiming and still opening even if disabled. This way, you can start to get a sense of a pattern that causes it as the pattern that triggers the issue is important to try to figure out if there is something deeper in your case. I just tested mine. Same status quo result as yesterday.. the "pull the fuse reset" I did yesterday which had stopped the chime in the fully open position is still working. So, I just disabled the lift gate on the dash like you did to see what would happen and (1) my lift gate does not open and (2) when I turned it back on, the chimes still do not happen at the fully open gate as we had hope.
  22. I tend to agree and wrote a whole conspiracy thread on that here Alerts show up in one report, not in the next. And the alerts certainly do make you think you better haul aZZ to the dealer, until the next time you run the report and see no more alerts or totally different alerts.
  23. hey hey so, I am not sure about the 09.. not even sure if the 09 still has this USB2 plug accessible or if they changed it in some way? did you look to see if it was there? I would think it would be the same, but not 100% sure. Really, tapping into it is so quick and easy, seconds, it is worth testing and posting up what happens with the 09. Anyway, I do not recall not being able to go to line-in. It was always still a choice. So was the BT connection. neither were disabled by adding in the 2nd USB hook up. I will confirm that sometime this weekend. I had both USB hooked up on a recent 3k road trip (2 different iPods) and though I do not ever use Line In or BT connection, I am pretty sure they are still both options to select from.
