personally.. the 'shinny' dash is not the issue. glare is very well documented in these cars. looking at the photo, you would see the glare, shine or not. I think it more of an issue of the angle of the glass and angle of the dash as I have never had it so bad in a car. for example, you will never see this glare in a Toyota FJC.. why? the windshield is nearly vertical. it just happens to be the right combo of angles and you should never have to worry about what you put on your dash to cause an issue.. I have seen this many times while not a clean shiny dash in the Edge, I just photo'd it this time.

true BUT the 6p was delivered with the 2008s, so might be hard pressed in getting them to upgrade you to the newest just released 8p - even jumping 7p - but not harm in asking
-
this has been pretty well documented actually.. read here
-
you likely got 6p.. open the dvd and pull the disk and see. 8p is recently out, $200 from Navteq - you can visit their site to see if it updated for your area. you are confined to use Navteq DVDs.

I just recently realized how bad it can actually be while driving back 16 hours from Colorado. it can be bad. I even tried to catch a photo of it it was so bad, but my photo cannot do the true glare justice. at times, it was noticeable enough to .. to make me want to try to photo it.

my plastic shift lever creaks.. drives me nuts since I tend to hold onto while driving.

Rear Ford emblem housing
Lex Talionis replied to DJ Nap's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
no secret.. the big issues are materials and paint match. just make a mold of the size, refine, paint. that iKona jerk knows how to make them, he is just a scam artist & took orders for product he could not deliver and then bailed out. you can see them on the web, it is a matter of finding one that fits our hole size and comes in color matched paint. -
Rear Ford emblem housing

I love the idea & want one.. I even have my own homemade one for now since I never use a key. period. it is just a matter of finding someone who makes them and paint matches them. here is the thread on it -

the keyhole plug guy was a scammer. he scammed me, and I went on to follow him around the web and try to alert others on other car sites and scammed a TON of people. -
someone buy it and start making "backups" NO way in hell I would pay $200 for it. no way.

Installing Curt Hitch
Lex Talionis replied to oakjefferson's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
it it were me, I would likely remove the hitch and sell it - since it is bolt on for Curt - at the time the lease ends when you return it, but I would likely leave the wiring as that could be more of a PITA to unwire and frankly, it is hidden enough it could be made to be not even visible since all you 'could' see would be the pigtail and maybe - depending on wiring skill - the power wiring coming into the engine bay. for the t-one cost, that might not be worth salvaging. -
use the search and search for "smell" and you will be surprised at the number of topics about it. you will see, for some, it has been the air cabin filter. for others, one guy claimed it was - of all things - the windshield wipers

Installing Curt Hitch
Lex Talionis replied to oakjefferson's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
well, I have not done that t-one kit as I only haul bikes BUT it is the kit I will do for sure if I have to install a kit. There are install instructions floating around on the web - like on the sites you can buy the t-one from - I even thought there was a link here to them in one of the hitch threads (??). either way, it is the one, when I researched, I knew I would go for. IIRC, "plug and play" is kind of true. you do have to splice, but they use the push splice easy connectors and you have to run a wire up the battery to gain power to the control box. It has been a bit since I did the research, but the t-one is a solid choice and there really is no other kit/way to make it any easier. not sure if that helps. as for warranty.. I would not sweat that since I own it. If I was leasing, well you can remove both the curt hitch and the wiring kit really. both are not permanent mods. you could remove both and likely never know they were there IF you had to. -
Bravo P-3 Backup Camera
Lex Talionis replied to ebaker21's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I cannot answer for 2009 exact, but I sold one just like that here, I was going to use on my 2008 camera install but went with a different style. RCA jacks, should work universal. also, a CCD camera is the way to go, research will show a CCD camera - all in all - are better quality choice than CMOS and I have seen these plates come in both styles. on the 2007-2008 you had to get a special switch box to hook to the nav system and then hook the camera to that. I did a full install write up here. but RCA hook is standard. -
although this has been solved already, FWIW in cars that have the 2 horns (as I explained above) when both fire they would/do "sound" central to the car.

Programming a garage door opener?

no joke.. I had actually said "but only if I can add an LED", but then removed that at the last second as I did not want to convolute the post.. too funny -

Programming a garage door opener?
Lex Talionis replied to refresh248's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
just for that, I might figure out a way to activate it.. but from the navi console WHILE DRIVING. I know how much you would love that. -
yeah, it was kinda funny... I smirked... but you knew darn well what you were offering up was.. not what he was after but that is the point.. it does not work, not correctly.

Installing Curt Hitch
Lex Talionis replied to oakjefferson's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
there is a good amount on wiring harnesses here. here is one you will need a harness kit, just a matter of what wiring harness kit you get.. Ford, T-One look back in that thread you posted in on the hitches and start at post #23, that talks about the t-one and there are actual installs here about it -
Programming a garage door opener?
Lex Talionis replied to refresh248's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I see.. good point actually. -
don't worry.. he is known for responses like that anyway, often in cars, there are actually 2 horns. a high and low pitch and they work in tandem to make a single horn blast. not sure if this is the case in the Edge, but if so, it could mean one is not firing. And, often, I have seen them on opposite sides of the radiator for example. so, that can explain why it sounds 1 sided.

COMFORTABLE SUSPENSION? 2" LOW
Lex Talionis replied to FaHaD's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
search here on 'H&R suspension'.. a number of people have used those kits here and they report their ride qualities in some of the threads. but, I think by default, if you lower it, you tend to get a bit stiffer of a ride. -
Programming a garage door opener?
Lex Talionis replied to refresh248's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
yes it does on the 08, so would assume so on 09 (?) but why would you not program it if it didn't? you only open the door when the car is off? -
yes, you can. I did it first here and used a method where I totally replaced the stock bulb housing (as the bulb is sealed into a housing unit that snaps into the mirror) for a stand alone LED bulb with no housing and home made lens. You can read that here - I did this as I did not want to cut into the bulb housing, as it is a closed sealed unit and they were/are like $50-60 per unit! BUT then another guy broke one of the housings trying to mod it and then just went on to go ahead and open them up - since it was broken anyway - and see if you could change the bulbs to LED in the sealed unit. Sure enough you can. So, my second variation, the one I have installed now, is using that method and that can be read starting here - all you need to know starts there it is not a hard mod, but you have to mod the housing, after cutting it open, to get an LED to fit and get a small enough LED and epoxy it back together and get the polarity correct.
