well done... this one might get some followers and maybe some design improvements by the next guy how did you make the outline/stencil? cardboard? can you show a better pict of the rod/attachment at the rear seat area?

yep, I sure did.. read here not sure how you missed it

almost looks like an engine mount. I suspect it is used in the factory to hold the frame while assembly? no matter what, I would go back and get that on record ASAP as that will continue to crack through over time and could split that rail as it moves up towards the top. NO DOUBT that needs welding up and addressed. no doubt! it would take a heck of a force to rip that mount open like a tin can like that. how is your alignment?

I noticed the 2 holes in the bottom.. I assumes that was for a key ring. other photos on the web conform that. let me ask... how does it "feel"? cheap, solid? Also, any thoughts on if the white 'paint' will wear off from use on the buttons? I have seen things like this, from Asia, be very cheaply produced and wonder your thoughts?

thanks for that / HIJACK did not not know that. did you do a write up on that mod? HIJACK/

yeah, I bet these are Gentex cameras. I looked into a retro fit of these a year ago based on the F150 setup, you can search here and find my posts on it.. but, I was able to get an awesome CCD camera + switch box and self install for less than half of the one you mention here.. plus a lot less possible headache with getting the Gentex to correctly work with Sync & you get to use the full sized nav screen versus the smaller Gentex mirror screen. When I did my research I talked with Gentex, but no one would touch the install as it required, at the time, modifying the microphone IIRC.

Chrome a/c vent trim
Lex Talionis replied to Centerliner's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
wow, I still find the outer ones reflect greatly. even if brushed. anyway, I do wish they were consistent, never really liked that they used polished and brushed. -
look on the far right side up in the red bevel bar, see a gray box that says "Options" and click that, inside that you can select your Display Modes (viewing style), I prefer "Standard" to see all the posts, fully, in one long page(s).

there seems to be something between the lock and unlock buttons.. does that light up or something?

one guy said "Getting it cut was a little bit of a chore, but you just need to find a local hardware store that doesn't have the new digital key cutter. " another guy said "and he didn't think that the key would fit properly in his machine." and " Their machine was not able to hold the flip key properly. " both of these concur with my supposition about fitting it in the key machine. One guy did say "what we did was remove the blade from the "electronics" body." - so that does seem to be possible despite my thought. another great read - point is, it is doable, but getting it cut might require some hoop jumping.

cool find. I use to love the flip key on my VW, just because it was neater. yeah, if you have 2 keys, you can program as many other keys as you want. I bought a spare key & FOB off ebay when I first bought my car so I would always have 2 - dealer cut the key for free in about 2 minutes. Now I see this and kinda want to get on. Only bummer about them to consider is that there is a good bit more "stuff" sticking out of the key hole as the device itself is longer. anyway, I think it takes nothing special to cut this key or a Ford key - pretty generic. the thing about the stock Ford one is that the FOB fits over the key so you can take the key out and have it cut by any locksmith or key shop & snap the FOB back on. But on these flip keys, I am not sure if it can fit in just any key cutter or if they can remove the flip key portion, cut it, and attach it back. I suspect the key portion, since it is spring loaded, cannot be removed and thus, it might take a special cutter to be able to fit that blocky FOB?

update: yes, you can unscrew the top black plastic cap.. does not mean thread pitch is the same, but if I were a betting man, I would say they would work now that we know we can unscrew ours as I would think if the posting lists "Ford" it is likely a universal thread pitch. my other possible concern would be diameter and just hoping these are not much thicker than what we have. might have to ask the seller if they know the length and width just to compare with what it there.

make a cardboard template of the top curve, width, length Edge bumper and carry it around whip it out whenever you see a possible candidate and compare

if no one answers here, as I have not seen many Zune topics, you might try posting here

maybe... when you pull off the door, you will see that our lock pins are a long metal rod that mounts to the actuator with a plastic cap piece. you can see a photo of it here in my gallery. the door panels are way easy to take off, you could take one off and see if you can unscrew the top black plastic piece.. or just clamp onto the top black plastic piece and see if it screw loose and then take measurements. I would be curious what you come up with, I like little touches like this myself. if you do not have the auto climate control but have the manual, you might like these knobs as well

I think another brand for another car is going to be the way to go. it is just a matter of someone here giving it a whirl. the Murano one looks like a decent choice of any. At that price, it is not a huge loss. you 'could' walk up to a Murano on a lot with a piece of cardboard at night and trace the outline of the bumper, go cut it out and lay it up to the Edge and see how close the curve - and also length - really is in comparison. that should give some decent data before ordering. the ASL is great. What I have before they went bad & stopped selling. Very thick and heavy duty no doubt. Sure, I would love the lip curve, but no doubt the ASL was the best of whats around. never heard here if they started selling again.

Auxiliary Line-In and IPOD

so no navi, no Sync... no USB port then and you cannot do the self updates then either - try a new cable first, they are cheap -
Auxiliary Line-In and IPOD
Lex Talionis replied to leverhead's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
you have a USB port option, no? if so, and no other device, why not just use that as that can also charge the iPod at the same time. 1 great benefit alone. but hey, the inline should work as you bought it to work. -
it is for an Edge.. but no way it would be pliable enough to bend over the lip curve along the curve at the same time and stay stuck down. no way. to protect the lip, a lip needs to be built into the design, for sure. in the end, unless some company makes a specific one, the only chance is to find another auto makers - or oem for another car - that happens to fit the curve and have a lip.

on a modern computer controlled engine like this, not sure why you would even want to know? to make the point, I put an inline fuel pressure gauge in my 1974 FJ40 becuase there was no such gauge and on an all mechanical engine that old with certain performance mods, knowing matters for some of the carb calibrations. But, on a modern car, not sure why you would want to know the exact oil pressure number since there is a computer that monitors it all? but anyway, maybe best you could do is find an inline oil pressure gauge and splice it in? I am sure someone can dig up the specs of what the pressure is running it.

Auxiliary Line-In and IPOD

for that matter... could be a bad input plug -
nope. those long existing threads pretty much cover all that has been found and so far, no one with a turned edge.

Hitch mounted Bike rack for 09 Edge?
Lex Talionis replied to jedi6's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
I travel a lot with bikes. race them. You can NEVER go wrong with a Yakima. depends on how much you want to spend, seriously. I have had them all: Yakima, Thule, Performance Brand. if you want great quality, Yakima. But you pay. You want function that works, much more affordable, just get a performance brand - Performance Bike - rack as they are about half the price and they make 2-4 bikes versions. they are even having a sale right now! -
Auxiliary Line-In and IPOD

the key software upgrades that have been released - EXCEPT for the 911/Healthreport - which would not address this anyway - can be downloaded and self installed via the USB port. no need to go to dealer to have it done. there have been 2 that you can do, the last one incorporates both updates, and can be self done. directions and downloads can be found at syncmyride.com I would do the self updates for sure! -
2009 Ford Edge Navigation - Software Updates
Lex Talionis replied to ebaker21's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
their website already shows no updates available.. but more importantly, did the 2009 not go to a totally different navi head unit and is no longer the Pioneer IIRC? so, not sure if Navteq is even the distributor for map upgrades for 2009+?
