AVIC-Z110, Can I keep my backup sensors?
Lex Talionis replied to Technyne's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
very nice.. well done, the photos are always a key addition. I could be into something like this, but personally, I like the Sync and I would want all the steering wheel buttons to work. 100% integration. on #1.. was/is there not am=n after market module to retain these abilities? can you give more detail on #4.. that is, what wire (color) did you tap into on the existing Edge harness? on #2, why did you bypass this wire? the mute seems a useful feature, they gave you the wire, you were there... but did not hook up? -
as far as I know, this is it. first ones that came to mind and I know of no others. they are pretty cool though. I think they will work better than their CAI

nope.. that is not it. trust me. I hope I come across knowledgable here with all the things I have done, and if so, you must see I have no reason to fib when I tell you the "shine" is not the issue. Your cell phone picture above, not even in good substantial light to catch anything, so not a good representation for this issue. As I said, I know I know I know it is easy to blame the glare on the shine. But you know, as I have said, I get the same issue when less shine! just not had a camera handy to prove it yet. but I will. Look at my picture above, notice how you cannot even see the "shine" in the window glare. it cancels it out. it looks like regular glare. why? because the shine is not the issue here. Now, just for the sake of argument, so what if it is "shine"? so what. a person cannot use a product to clean the dash and leave a shine in fear of having such bad glare, you cannot see clearly?? preposterous. I should be able to use any car care product I want to clean and dress my dash - as I have on my past 10 cars with no issue - and not have a fear of not being able to see correctly in certain light/angle conditions. on a side note, I think parcs makes an interesting point. I am 5' 10" and he is 6' 4" and that could come into some play in the whole angle issue of angle of dash versus windshield versus the driver.

Sirius Antenna - disable
Lex Talionis replied to doc johnson's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
not sure what you mean by "disable" - but igciting is correct as for 1 obvious method. or, IIRC, the sirius black box unit is in the back of the car passengers side rear trunk panel. -
Any one useinga K&N air filter
Lex Talionis replied to DEADEYE's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I just used force and it popped out. BUT, I think I am going to put it back on as it makes the car "feel" and "sound" like it is struggling for power from inside the cabin - not sure the outside sound, but even so, it is kind of disconcerting sensation to me. if you gas it to pass or climb mountains, it feels and sounds as though the engine is working harder. -
you guys are driving too damn much.. I recently turned 10k - in 20 months... but then again, I am at 7k on my bike - as in bicycle - in 9 months
-
I have said it before and will say it again, as have others who deal with the reflection.. it is not shine related. trust me. it is the simple and easy conclusion to jump to. I could dull that dash and you will still get the issue. I just dealt with it again coming down from the mountains this weekend. once you are keen to it, it is obvious. and my dash is "dull" so to speak. it is all about light and angle of windshield. yeah, sure, maybe the "shine" might - and I say might - add a bit to it, but it is there heavy nonetheless. IIRC, Ford took steps to address it after it was noticed in the '07 models. that photo above, it does not do the issue justice.

dont use them on my Edge, only did back in the day when one of my cars had like 100k+ miles.. and even then, I do not think it did a damn thing. I would not use them.
-
I think he meant, for the drivers side, the A pillar or roof mounted one. whereas, I have always known the oh shiznit handle to be on the passenger side on the dash.
-
search around here, it has been covered. as Grey said, you could destroy your airbag potential if you put one on the passenger side dash - like my 1974 FJ40 has - or even on the A pillar of the driver. AND, assuming you could, it would be hard to brace and tie into something solid to where it would do what it is suppose to do.

post #40 covers this and has a link to the 3 button listing

Stubby Antenna Install
Lex Talionis replied to Lex Talionis's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
yeah well.. I will take that over looking like a friggen CB antenna any day. -

slight gap, thick rubber visual effect, who cares... it covers the lip as clean as can be done for a not Ford designed part. hard to beat this fit.
-
too thick for me.. would add like .25" to thickness and set them up higher and oddly.
-
a camera is the best, by far... but since that is not an option - unless you self install - I think they are very valuable. glad I have mine. 1 time saved is worth the coin.

sure, I do not doubt it would as the program process will just blow off that button, but why get the 4 button when he has a 3 button and, the 3 button is actually a neater more stylish key
-
not this exact key, but the eBay seller claims "I HAVE 3-BUTTONS AVAILABLE,PLEASE CHECK MY OTHER AUCTION" - so look into his other auctions, as he likely has what you need
-
got new transponder, got it programmed... good to go. I like the new key/gadget. quality is as good as my VW key, better than expected actually. does not feel cheap. design is a little square and blocky and bigger than it needs to be (you know this by opening it up and a good deal of wasted space and plastic can be seen). I like that the center bulb lights up as it is just a visual indicator. I actually like the button layout a bit better as it makes a little more sense than the Ford key. my only 1 concern will be how long the "paint" icons will stay on the rubber buttons. not sure they will even wear off, but it is the only thing that I might consider suspect - but I could be totally wrong. just "looks" like it "might" wear off in time. I would buy again.

check this out

$61.10 is the price now from that site. so, you scored. and, you could have done it cheaper. you should have bought a throw away item for $2.60 and you would have got it $50 total since free ship

Any one useinga K&N air filter
Lex Talionis replied to DEADEYE's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
the engine should always make its own adjustments this minor... unless you went to something more radical like a CAI. then, to really benefit from the device, you would need to use a "tuner" to "tune" the engine for the massive amount of extra air. -
some sort of mini van? good score though. I like mine, but would consider a change... that is, if we ever find out what this is
