  1. I have a RS kit -I went with 35w (I felt no need for higher light output given I was already dramatically improving over the lame incandescence bulbs) -5000w bulb (very close approximation to "factory" installed bulbs on the roads we all like & which made these popular and just that perfect nice tint of blue and not overboard toward gawdy purple - my opinion of the best choice of color+function+look) -not slim ballasts (it was not offered at the time and we have plenty of room to mount anyway so room is not an issue - but at $6 more, not a real issue). I would buy the same setup again. I think your biggest decision, which is one of preference, is bulb watt/color. at $6 total diff it seems for 55w or slim, who cares really.. the bulb color is what you WILL notice the most. and of course, digital is the ONLY kit to go with.
  2. never understood these.. you buy to protect the dash, since you obviously want it to stay in good shape, so you hide it, so it is never seen, as it is hidden by a cover, which you never plan to remove so you can see the dash underneath you are protecting
  3. well, it must be (1) when/where we are driving or (2) we are different heights or seat angles as someone else postulated or (3) your just not noticing it - which just can't be given the case as it so plain as day as one can see with the photos - as there is nothing different from my car to yours in this aspect. same windshield, same glass & dash angles, same dash, same colors, same materials, etc. it makes no sense, in this instance, to get different results given our cars are the exact same setup. unless, like I said, it is #1,2,3 above. there was nothing special done to capture these images. I was driving, I was like "damn", I pulled out the cell phone camera, snapped the photos, there you have it. real world, real life scenario - captured it on film. clearly showing how bad the glare can obscure your view. hell, you can see the vents better than some of the roadside scenery. did you even notice the cyclists in image #3? if I setup your cars seats just like mine, and drove it, there should be no reason the exact same thing would not appear given the right sun/light conditions. but that is a huge part of what this is all about - right lighting conditions that exploit the funky set-up of the car.
  4. I use the Turtle Wax "ICE" also... use it all over the car from rims, interior, plastic moldings, body, chrome... I like it good enough I do not use it on glass or lights though, and I have not noticed that anything sticks more because of it. I use it a bit almost everyday to do quick clean ups of road debris, dust and bird poop, etc.
  5. here are some more photos.. BEFORE you comment about the supposed "glossy" dash note that (1) I wiped it down and that just is what it is on a daily basis and (2) I think some of you think the "glossy" dash is due to something on the dash when in fact, it is sun glare on the dash. this is just to further document the issue and show those that claim they do not have it... what it looks like.. these picture pretty much tell the story as the glare is glaringly (no pun intended) obvious. it is really noticeable while driving into the sun I noticed, less of an issue with the sun from left, right, back. I did not plan to do this, it just came up while I was driving. these photo capture it as good as you will ever see it.
  6. just to show the issue visually. even around the edges it peels off
  7. ahh... you just said "hidden hitch" - but did not mention the harness as some install a hitch but no harness - so it did not make sense how this "floor pan" was involved.
  8. I wondered when you might chime in. your right, there is nothing magic about clear coat... assuming you have one to begin with. the clear coat is an additional protective layer, not really debatable. no surface clear coat = reduced protection. In my estimation, having the issue and looking deeply at it, this is why the blue is chipping off and the rest of the front of the car is just fine and both would/are/have received the same debris potential. even the back emblem's blue portion, with the potential of hardly any debris damage given its location and the fact it is facing backward, is susceptible. so, the blue can chip off for reasons other than surface prep or defective paint, and 1 reason is, no clear surface coat applied so paint is exposed and thus, easily damaged as no protective coating over it. and yes, I know I know.. the right piece of debris could chip anything. but this is not the kind of debris damage all over the logo I am referring to. we are not talking one chip nothing could stop, we are talking dozens of places with blue missing. hard to explain that in 1.5 years of driving with roughly 10k miles.. oh wait, unless it is simply cutting corners on fit and finish. but I know your not big into buying into that theory.
  9. the fix is simple.. a clear coat since clearly the blue is exposed and not under a clear coat, it chips easy. very easy. but they failed to do so
  10. yep, I got it. others here have mentioned it also.. chalk it up to sub par materials. just wait until some of your external chrome items start to bubble and peel
  11. they have pretty inexpensive battery testers you can put into your lighter port and get a red, yellow, green light on to tell you battery quality. handy gadget to have around.
  12. actually, I now see our foot rest is just a cheap piece of rubber attached to the carpet. not even tacked/screwed down. pretty cheap as it flops around if you try to kick it with your toe. I suppose you could bolt into whatever is backing under the carpet. BTW, can you post a few photos of yours installed please?? at $150 bones, I gotta see them installed first
  13. hey thanks.. those match the ones I was looking at that - good to know about the MX6 fit. why did you not do the foot rest? does it not fit that you know of?
  14. yeah, both of you, it would help me greatly decide if it is for me. thanks.
  15. Goldy - can you please take a few more photos in the day light for me and post please. I also have a tri-sand and was considering one of these off and on, but wanted to see it installed on our color of Edge. thanks!
  16. not seen anyone here, but, if you can get your hands on them not sure why the would not work? body style and light style is the same, so would certainly assume fit is the same so should be simple plug and play. and let me tell you, since I have taken them out, they are as easy to remove and reinstall as it gets. OR just get your tails tinted as that looks like the only change in the Sport style?
  17. did you see the Power Acoustik CCD-4XS camera I installed? stealth install for sure. as clean and factory looking as any I have seen. you might consider it.
  18. okay then.. I am convinced. well done. the look of this one is 10x better than ours, and if you loose no functions - hard to beat. BTW, on this unit, how do you get nav street updates? did you add a camera, which one? photo? what do you think total install time was?
  19. well, I guess I recalled 1 part correctly, it is in the back :shades:
  20. what "floor pan" and why was it removed to install a hitch?
