  1. cool, works for me not true.. it is just that across the board you dog on "mods" people do. You always find a way to criticize them or clown them later in some manor, no matter what the mod or potential mod idea, you poo poo it - you never saw a mod you liked, or if so, never mentioned it here. And, when you do disagree, which is nearly every time frankly, it comes across as a condemnation more than just a friendly alternate opinion or useful perspective of an issue the mod needs to consider.
  2. did you peep under the dash and see if something is swinging loose and smacking into something? or is it a constant tick tick tick tick tick? always the same loudness? always the same tempo between clicks? electronic click or rattle sound click?
  3. does it happen when turning the wheel? like it is in the steering column - which might sound "low" in the dash. might be worse in the AM or bumpy conditions if it was bad bearing (assuming bearings in the steering column) - just a guess
  4. the first picture tells me all I needed to know to know... your lights are fine. They are not flawed as they are just like mine in brightness - so to me, that rules out a mechanical issue. I took some similar photos, exactly the same results. Thus, it tells me it is a personal preference thing and not an issue with the lighting/dimmer feature. Now, last night at twilight/dusk - when driving back from a stellar sunset and beach swim - I kind of see what you mean about them kind of washing out and hard to read. But, in my case, I was able to adjust that dimmer to the brightest setting to overcome the outside lighting conditions. However, I never have my dash lights on full blast. They are also set kind of dim as I hate it bright in my car. But, it was at that time that I kind of got a feel for your compliant as the dim setting I like at that time of the day made the gauges hard to read. but like I said, cranked up the dash lights and viola - I could see it all fine. So, like I said, seeing your first photo shows me you get the same full on brightness I get, so it seems to me to be a personal preference issue and not an actual flaw in the system. BTW.. did you tint your front windows? Mine are, and maybe that also adds some protection from your issue you might consider... yeah yeah it can be illegal in some states, I know I know, but I do not care as it's benefits out weigh the fix-it-ticket
  5. ahh.. I see what you mean. Kind of like Trijicon gun night sights
  6. obviously, all mods are a bit of both in the end. can't be so literal, and I even did say "some of these mods".. which implies some are this and some are that. but anyway... :boring:
  7. not sure what this means? though, as I have said, I seem to have no issues in this case - but do with the reflective dash glare others do and do not - I certainly think time of day and suns lighting makes all of the difference. Driving into the sunlight on a sunny day and the dashboard glare issue I have is off the charts (as I think my photos show), but drive with light behind or besides you, no real issue. point is, some of these can be only recognized in the coming together of certain variables at the right time. Now, dashboard glare or weak backlighting aside, what many of us do have in common on both of these is that they are not issues on other cars we have/did have - so they are noticeable and so it is nice to get to the bottom of them and determine if there are ways to address them.
  8. your ASSUMING the light that comes from the map light is ENOUGH light for the person versus a light IN the actual glovebox. Just stop trying to be a contrarian all of the time. it is okay for you to occasionally admit some of these things are worthy additions.
  9. not sure what this means exactly? but it kind of sounds like your implying you think some of these mods - like adding light to an area that needs it - are done "just for fun" and not out of a perceived need or utility by the owner? is that what this is all about to you?
  10. when the warning is on the info center, what happens when you push the far right "reset" button on the information center on your dash... do you have information center & button?
  11. the average air filter, tires, speakers, antenna, stereo, bulbs, navi unit, etc. etc all work "just fine" - but some of us just want more or an improvement over the status quo. and in this area, it needs improvement. but hey, you can stick with flipping on your map light and I will stick with opening the glove box and having a nice LED come on instantly for me. your 3 steps versus my 1.
  12. "tap lights" make me think of those cheezy As Seen on TV late night commercials... the ones that are the size of a small plate and cheap white plastic that turns dingy yellow in time even in your closet. I think if you buy a Snuggie you get 3 tap lights yeah, the newer LED ones are a bit more modern and cool, not as bulky, but not "integrated" enough for my tastes. Why would your iPod light up the center console? don't you have it set to have the backlight off? either way, since I never take out my ipod, it is down in the bottom of my console. with no light in that center console, it is a total dead zone below the top coin holder... the LED lights I put in are money and make all the difference in the world.
  13. hella cheezy but effective - I have even seen LED ones now
  14. wasn't really his question. clearly anyone could have thought of your answer, or I will do you one better, why not just flip the dash dimmer switch to the "all lights on" setting - but again, par for course akirby answer and not really the answer he sought. :shades:
  15. OR, you could do what I did and do what hey should have done read here about what I did for my 2008 in both glove and center console
  16. huh? just like I was able to capture pictures of the reflection issue talked about elsewhere - which shed light (no pun intended) on the issue to many who could not visualize it or had it themselves - this is one that could be easy to photo capture. Same with those of us that have taken night shots of the HID lighting. Capture a night shot of your dash/display and label it, and capture a twilight shot and label it - both with the dimmer setting on highest. easy. you raised the question, it is vague at best to many who do not have the issue (as I see it only about 50% of the people posting here see/have the issue), so maybe some photos would clear up if this is just a personal issue - like others state it could be - or a flaw in your system. as it is now, people are just guessing about yours since we have nothing to look at and compare with systems that seem to be fine. so, I think pictures are a pretty legit request - and easy to take - if you care to try to find out if it is just your wife, or a flaw.
  17. night and twilight photos would do this thread a wonder.. could help us compare what you think you have versus what the rest of us have that seems to be just fine
  18. these are the pedals for sure. no doubt. they match the design I first posted. just a matter of justifying the coin as they are not cheap BUT I did not want cheap Pep Boys pedals anyway.
  19. go here for that discussion.. we are talking pedals here :shades:
  20. why didn't you run the wire up through the same location, hole in the center console under the rubber coin tray (that entire center console pulls away SO easy and there is a ton of room to run a wire up), and then wire that into the fuse box (or other wiring) so that the power wire is hidden.
  21. see my post #27 where I said "Do not confuse that port for the computer system access port for one of these you might see." - which is exactly what you did. well we all have THAT port. we are all talking about the extra security port attached to the center sloping side of the bottom of the dash versus the diagnostic port off to the right up under that you are talking about. ha ha as for just noticing the diagnostics port OR even the security port in question - yeah, I am still surprised you are noticing the diagnostics port as it is so right there. I assumed everyone, in the course of learning or cleaning their car - they saw that one at some point
  22. it's a crap shoot with those guys, I often know more than them... it has always done the dings on close, but never on open until I had the issue. I did the reset steps I mentioned elsewhere, than it was correctly back to just dings on close and nothing at open, which is how it has been ever since, which I bet is true SOP. why ding at full extension? its open at that stage - so who cares. makes no sense. but it makes perfect sense to ding on the way down so you watch your head and check all stuff is out of the way. I call BS on this.
  23. warranty with dealer? OR, I would likely just use silicon adhesive on them. the great thing there is it should hold them and not damage the car and always can be easily removed and create water proof seal all at the same time. silicon is an awesome adhesive.
  24. have them check it of course but, I would lube the catch mechanism - then operate it like 10 times with the key FOB (and your finger if needed) and watch it lock/unlock to see if that helps.
