  1. I once moved to Michigan and had to navigate through their new-resident process. I prefer avoiding surprises by doing a bit of advanced research. If I moved to Canada, I wouldn't immediately know how to process a US vehicle, which it turns out, is similarly complex. Good luck!
  2. TPMS is a standard safety feature on all Edges, except in the spare tire. Good luck!
  3. That looks similar to Arial Rounded MT Bold. Good luck!
  4. MattieP: I can understand your frustration and anger over the situation that developed at the dealership, especially since this is your first vehicle-buying experience in the USA. It's true that earlier in the process, someone should have observed your Canadian license plates and/or your Canadian driver's license, and especially someone should have noticed the Canadian title document your provided for your trade-in when you were finalizing your purchase. If you walk away from the deal now and/or keep your trade-in, you'll still have to fulfill all of Michigan's new resident requirements and manage the conversion of your Canadian-titled (& maybe not-manufactured-for-USA-sale) vehicle into being Michigan-titled & USA-saleable. And you'll be navigating that process alone, probably making several visits to the Michigan Secretary of State's office and/or other Federal regulatory sites. If you have the time & you enjoy the thrill of a (paper-chase) hunt, maybe that route is for you. Remembering that your purchase is an A-Plan deal, the dealer cannot give you anything extra in excess of $50 at his cost (I found that in the A-Plan rules). Maybe they'll cover that portion of the importation-documentation cost. You could let the dealer do all the work because you will have to pay one way or the other for that conversion process. Or, you could sell the vehicle in Canada if you have a friend or family member north of the border to manage that process on your behalf using a Power of Attorney document. Good luck! By the way, here's what the dealer (and/or perhaps you) must be concerned with under Michigan law: Section 3-23 CANADIAN OR OTHER IMPORTED VEHICLES 3.23.1 Authority. Federal law requires all vehicles entering the United States from another country for resale to be imported through a registered importer. A registered importer is a business authorized by the federal Department of Transportation to handle the legalities of importing vehicles into the United States. On behalf of the vehicle owner, the registered importer ensures the vehicle has proper ownership documents and meets all EPA and DOT standards. The importer also inspects the VIN, converts the odometer from kilometers to miles, and ensures custom duties are paid, if applicable. 3.23.2 Requirement. When vehicles are imported into the U.S. from other countries, including Canada, additional documents must be presented to the Secretary of State branch office with the application for title. Failure to provide proper documentation may result in the branch office rejecting the application. a) Foreign ownership document. The foreign ownership document must be properly assigned to the buyer, and must include the following information: 1) The date of purchase; 2) The odometer reading in kilometers when sold to the Michigan dealer; 3) The names and addresses of both the seller and the buyer. U.S. Customs Form 7501. This form is required by U.S. Customs for all vehicles entering the United States. The form verifies the vehicle entered the U.S. properly, identifies the port of entry, and declares whether duty is due. It must be stamped by the U.S. Customs office at the port of entry, which verifies they processed the form. Forms submitted to the Secretary of State without this stamp will be denied. c) Vehicle Number and On-Road Equipment Inspection Form (TR-54). The Department will only title vehicles that are imported for resale by a Michigan dealer, or for private use by Michigan citizens. Customs Form 7501 indicates the port through which the vehicle entered the United States. Michigan port codes begin with the number 38 (e.g., 3801 is Detroit and 3802 is Port Huron). If the port code does not begin with 38, form TR-54 must be completed by a Michigan law enforcement officer to verify the vehicle is physically located in Michigan. It must be submitted to the Secretary of State branch office with the application for resale title. d) U.S. Department of Transportation Forms. To certify compliance with Federal motor vehicle standards, the following forms are submitted to the Secretary of State branch office: 1) HS Form 7, completed by the registered importer; 2) A statement of compliance or a waiver from the US DOT. e) U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Forms. To certify compliance with Federal environmental standards, the following forms are submitted to the Secretary of State branch office: 1) Form 3520-1, completed by the registered importer; 2) A statement of compliance or a waiver from the EPA. NOTE: DOT and EPA forms are required only when importing “grey market” vehicles that were not manufactured to meet U.S. import standards. f) Odometer Conversion Paperwork: The registered importer converts the vehicle’s odometer from kilometers to miles, and provides the buyer with an affidavit to describe the odometer conversion. This affidavit will be necessary when titling the vehicle.
  5. MattyP: Congratulations on your impending new vehicle purchase. Based on what you describe, it sounds like you didn't immediately tell the dealer you were A-Plan eligible. Under A-Plan rules, the dealer cannot provide you anything that he would not provide anyone else walking in off the street. If the dealer gives every customer a free oil change through Owner Advantage Rewards, then you as an A-Plan customer are entitled to that same free oil change. A-Plan rules ensure a level playing field for all dealers and consistent treatment for all A-Plan customers. Also under A-Plan rules, the dealer must show you the invoice for the vehicle you are interested in purchasing. This allows you to view the A-Plan price in writing on the invoice. As an example, another user on this site posted this invoice, which clearly shows the boxed-in A/Z-Plan price in the bottom line. You can review A-Plan rules, search dealer stock & view A-Plan prices for searched vehicles on the AXZ Plan website, where you also obtain your A-Plan PIN that you provide to the dealer for your purchase. You will need your CDSID & password to log-in to this website. Any special A-Plan incentives should also be viewable through the AXZ Plan website. Good luck!
  6. I also purchased an ESP contract (7-year, 125k miles, zero deductable PremiumCare with 1st-day & upgraded rental coverage) for my MKX from Anderson & Koch after I checked prices on the Ziegler and Flood websites. These various dealers receive extra ESP sales incentives from Ford for selling ESP contracts in excess of their "normal" ESP sales target, which is set by Ford. Those extra ESP sales incentives from Ford enable these (and other) Internet dealers to offer national-market ESP pricing that your local dealer probably cannot match. My local dealer said he didn't sell enough ESP contracts to be able to match Anderson & Koch's pricing. I submitted my ESP order via Anderson & Koch's website on a Friday evening and my completed ESP contract was mailed to me on the following Tuesday. Anderson & Koch provided me an ESP brochure and my ESP contract, examples of which are attached below. Good luck! Ford ESP PremiumCare Brochure.pdf Ford ESP - Sample Contract.pdf
  7. Buckeye Quinn: While you wait for your new Sport, perhaps you will enjoy reading the attached documents. Thank you for your past and current service to our nation and our safety. 8. ELation: I have experienced the cold air blowing in my face only after making a downward setting in the AUTO Climate temperature setting and the Climate system then tries to cool down the already-warmed interior of my MKX. During winter, like you, I prefer to have warmed air directed at my feet, which I achieve my using the TOUCH Climate screen to manually set the air distribution path downward, leaving only the fan speed on Auto. You may wish to assess the full range of manual Climate settings using the TOUCH screen. You may want verify that all the air distribution paths are fuctional by manually selecting each path. You may also want to manually adjust the temperature settings upward & downward while on full AUTO to verify operation of the air mixer door. But, if your system consistently takes 30 minutes to deliver heat, sounds like a visit to your dealer is likely -- if you haven't gone there already. Good luck!
  9. c_bova: Appreciate your clarification on Remote Start/Climate settings. Found that setting as you described and checked the box using left-side steering wheel controls. Jimmkx2k11: Drove MKX the 10-miles minimum, as recommended in Owner Guide for reteaching computer after a battery disconnect or battery replacement. TOUCH screen Battery Saver message at engine shutdown disappeared after vehicle was driven & sat in garage overnight. Upon engine start-up, Climate settings now default to AUTO on TOUCH screen, but Center Stack AUTO control pad light is not lit. Peculiar thing is TOUCH screen will show prior Climate settings with ignition power on before attempting engine start, but Climate immediately switches to the AUTO default when engine starts. Good luck!
  10. Jimmkx2k11: Sorry, I don't specifically recall that. In the Owner Guide, relating to Climate function and use of Remote Start in moderate temperatures, Climate settings are supposed to revert to settings from the previous Ignition-on cycle. This shows -- as all of us expect -- that Climate settings should be able to endure from previous use and should not revert to some default setting that we don't enjoy. As an experiment, I just now did a hard reset by pulling the negative battery cable for 10 minutes, then re-energized the system and started the vehicle. SYNC did a full reboot and on the TOUCH Screen, the Climate settings defaulted to Auto fan speed with face-level vents. After that, I manually set Climate to floor-level distribution and shut off & restarted vehicle. Climate setting did not endure after restart. I did a Master Reset via the TOUCH Screen and shut down & restarted the vehicle. Climate setting defaulted to full Off. I adjusted Climate setting and shut off vehicle and restarted. Climate setting did not endure and returned to default full Off. As I use the vehicle, I'll report back on what I hope will be progress, and not my so-far setback in Climate function and return of the dreaded Power Saver screen. In the mean time, I feel your pain!
  11. Attached are documents relating to Ford Certified Pre-Owned vehicle inspection requirements and FCPO limited warranty coverage. Good luck! Ford Certified Pre-Owned Inspection Checklist.pdf Ford Certified Pre-Owned Ford Ltd Warranty.pdf
  12. jimmkx2k11: I understand your '11 MKX is running SYNC update V3.5.1, the same as my '12 MKX. I have my Climate settings just as you describe. Several days ago, with the engine running and Climate on Full AUTO with center stack switch pad lit, I used the MyLincoln TOUCH screen to set the air distribution path to Floor, which caused the Auto descriptor to appear only above plus-minus fan speed on the screen and the AUTO control light on the center stack to be extinguished, consistent with the photos I previously posted. Earlier today when I drove my MKX -- and just now after reading your post, I verified -- that climate setting is sticking/enduring and does not require any re-setting in my MKX after the vehicle is restarted. I cannot say if there is a difference in the endurance of a Climate setting adjustment made with the engine running, versus the same adjustment made with the engine not running & MyLincoln TOUCH activated using the Entertainment power button beneath the Volume slider control. But, I made all my Climate adjustments with the engine running and the Climate settings stick/endure whenever I restart my MKX. Good luck!
  13. Perhaps the attached documents can help you as you comparison shop. I enjoy my MKX and I hope both of you will enjoy owning an Edge. Good luck! 2013 Ford Edge Competitive Comparison.pdf 2013 Ford Edge Quick Reference Guide.pdf 2013 Ford Edge Source Book.pdf
  14. If you can get the Edge's VIN, do a Google Search of the VIN. There may already be a CarFax report posted somewhere on the Web. Or, the Google Search search may show advertisements or dealer stock listings that provide you a better sense of the Edge's history, like if it went through any auctions, etc. Good luck!
  15. I guess several of us have differing recollections of the AUTO climate functionality before V3.5.1 upgrade, however, we all agree on how it now behaves. Good luck!
  16. Out of curiosity, I called Weathertech and asked if they make what you're looking for. Sales rep said no, only cargo liners for behind the second row of seats. I asked if rep could search their products by dimensions, since a 28 x 54 inch piece would cover the seats-down real estate. Customer service rep had no capability to do a dimensional search. Maybe you could call them and try to speak with someone in engineering (800) 441-6287. Someone at Weathertech should know if they have a 28 x 54 inch piece. Good luck!
  17. Check to see if your Voice Control setting is on Novice or Advanced for the Interaction Mode. I believe the Advanced setting eliminates the voice prompt that invites the driver's spoken commands, which may be what you're describing. Good luck!
  18. The rear brake pad on my MKX lightly clunks and clangs when I climb into the driver's seat. Good luck!
  19. You needn't feel shortchanged while driving your Edge, because there is also no backlighting on either control in my MKX. Apparently, Federal regulations do not require it. Good luck!
  20. The AUTO climate function on my MKX has always behaved like you describe, regardless of which SYNC/MyFord-MyLincoln TOUCH update version has been installed, the latest of which is V3.5.1. From the 2013 Edge Owner's Guide - AUTO: Press the button to turn on fully automatic operation. Select the desired temperature using the temperature control. The system automatically determines fan speed, air distribution, A/C operation, and outside or recirculated air, to heat or cool the vehicle to maintain the selected temperature. The control design doesn't deactivate AUTO by pushing the AUTO button a second time, whether on the center stack or on the MyFord TOUCH screen. Full deactivation of AUTO occurs only via the Climate TOUCH screen by manually selecting a fan speed setting and air distribution path. Good luck!
  21. Posts 1-to-6 describe problems with rearview camera visual park aid lines in vehicles running V3.2.2. Posts 7-and-later appear to describe the V3.5.1 update as having corrected V3.2.2's rearview camera visual park aid problems. My rearview camera & visual park aids & zoom are all working just fine with V3.5.1. I especially enjoy the way the visual zone containing the approaching obstruction highlights from green fill-in to yellow fill-in to red fill-in as a supplement to the audible warning. This added visual function makes the location of the hazard more obvious. Good luck!
  22. Take a look at these instructions & photos for door panel removal. Good luck!
  23. My Owner's Guide, on page 55, mentions removing the screws from the splash shield inside the front of the wheelwell in order to change the turn signal bulb. Out of curiosity, I removed the three screws and found the plastic splash shield bends back easily. If your arm is sufficiently long, it's an easy reach up to the turn signal socket/bulb. The removal clearance between the sheet metal flange that is aft of the socket/bulb is fairly close, but working from inside the wheelwell, the socket/bulb can be removed and reassembled more easily. Good luck!
  24. I have had no problem with Intelligent Access system. Photos attached are of emergency slot & IA fob in center console of my MKX. Slot inclines IA fob about 30 degrees aft from vertical. For rustypayne: You mention you always carry IA Fob #1 in your pocket and you always leave IA Fob #2 in your console. Does IA Fob #2 in your console cause your vehicle to be driveable when you & IA Fob #1 are not present? Is that equivalent to leaving one's key in the ignition? Perhaps I'm missing something in your description. Good luck!
