  1. Omar: Thanks for adding your experience. Ford should be highlighting the added value & functionality of "Sport" mode because references provided to dealers do not make it clear. Good luck!
  2. Based on the similarity of the descriptions of "Sport" & "Manual' modes in the Source Book references, I expect they're functionally identical. Depending on the model year and the vehicle model, the shift mode indicator says either "S" or "M" and the driver's selection method is either the steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters or the rocker switch on the shifter handle. It's all about providing the driver the ability to modify the gear change timing so long as the driver's selection does not bring harm to the engine or transmission. Relating to this feature, there is probably a programming difference between transmissions mated to 3.5L engines (Edge) and 3.7L engines (Edge Sport & MKX), in order to prevent over revving the engine when the driver fails at properly timing an upshift or downshift. But I don't think you need to feel cheated if you have "Manual" mode on your shift indicator, which was what it was also called on 2011 & 2012 Edge Sport models. I think this is simply a Marketing decision to call it "Sport" on the newer model year Edges. The Marketing folks must believe Edge buyers prefer having Sport mode, while MKX buyers are satisfied with Manual mode. Good luck!
  3. The 2013 Edge Owners Guide says... "Battery Saver - If you leave the courtesy lamps, dome lamps or headlamps on, the battery saver shuts them off 10 minutes after you switch the ignition off." It does not mention any Battery Saver affect upon parking lights. I did a 10-minute test on my MKX's parking lights and the Battery Saver did not shut them off. Perhaps the parking lights are excluded from auto-shutoff in the same way as the 4-way Emergency Flashers -- to ensure the vehicle can be more visible when stationary, especially in the dark, when the driver leaves the parking lights on to warn other drivers that the vehicle is parked and poses a potential traffic hazard. When I did the 10-minute parking lights test, the Warning Chime did sound when I opened the door, to inform me that I had left the parking lights on after the ignition was turned off. Thanks to EDwin, we all know the gravity of that chimed warning if we unintentionally leave our parking lights on. Good luck!
  4. The attached files provide fuller description of the 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission's non-automatic function, marketed as "Sport" mode on 2013 & 2014 Edges and marketed as "Manual" mode on 2011 & 2012 Edges and 2011-to-2014 MKXs... 5. Spitfire: Your 2013 Edge SEL has 3,500 lbs towing capacity rating if it is equipped with the factory trailer tow package, which provides the 2-inch Class II hitch receiver, a larger radiator, upgraded cooling fans, trailer sway control capability added to the AdvanceTrac electronic stability control program, and a 4-pin wiring harness. If your 2013 Edge SEL does not have the factory trailer tow package, its towing capacity rating is only 2,000 lbs. BoatTest lists the dry weight of just your boat, without any trailer, at 2,280 lbs. If your dealer did not provide you the original window sticker with your 2013 Edge SEL and you want to determine if your vehicle has the factory trailer tow package, you can input your Edge SEL's VIN using this website, which will provide you the window sticker showing your Edge SEL's optional equipment. I am towing a Robalo R180 boat on a single-axle aluminum trailer with surge brakes, weighing a total of 4,030 lbs when the boat's 50-gallon gas tank is full. My 2012 MKX with factory trailer tow package pulls the boat & trailer extremely well, even at highway speed. I've experienced no problem with the boat pushing my FWD vehicle around during normal driving. I drive defensively and avoid circumstances that might lead to a panic stop. And as you expect, the front wheels of my MKX remain on the level surface of boat ramps when I am launching and retrieving my boat. I bought my MKX expecting to tow this boat and my MKX purchase has proven to be a good decision. Good luck!

  9. When saying "selling dealer", I meant the dealer that sold the vehicle to the customer. When saying "not as supportive", I meant the out-of-town dealer may not provide a no-charge loaner because he knows I'm just passing through. In the latter case, my ESP coverage reimburses me for the loaner rental charge. Sorry for the confusion my expression created. Good luck!
  10. These previous posts may be helpful: #1 and #2 and #3 and #4. Good luck!
  11. The car rental reimbursement benefit is immediately available once you sign-up. Your selling dealer may provide you a no-charge loaner while your vehicle is being serviced, however, an out-of-town dealer may not be as supportive if you are traveling and your vehicle requires repair. Good luck!
  12. EdgeSE: While I cannot answer your question, attached below is a photo of what the entertainment system in your SE-level vehicle probably looks like. Just to help clarify your question for other Forum users -- You are asking about the function(s) of the telephone-style numerical keypad in the upper right of the photo ? I expect if you want to directly tune to a radio station, you would key in the specific radio frequency using that numerical keypad ? Good luck!

  14. EdgeSE: Sorry, I missed your question from the other day --Mine is a 2012 MKX. Good luck!

  16. No experience of pulling or veering with my MKX running on 18" wheels & stock tires. Good luck!
  17. EdgeSE: Thanks for your good research and a nice report. Good luck!
  18. I'm aware that Rack Attack has several retail stores in Canada, though it appears their website is USA-focused. If you have not already, perhaps you could contact one of their Canadian stores to determine if the pricing disparity you describe is simply the result of currency exchange rates or if the higher Canadian prices are caused by something else. Good luck!
  19. Will S: I am uncertain if you can access the Forum Personal Messenger system due to your current number of posts, but I have messaged you some information. Good luck!
  20. Jetz: Setting your geographical humor aside, you offering your rims & tires for sale in Nate's thread may have been the cause of Edgie's concern. Good luck!
  21. While I provided the above download link, I'm not an iTunes user nor a playlist maker. I obtain most of my music via SoundCloud, using the Search feature at the top of the page to locate a desirable song, or artist, or genre, with no signup required. I just copy the MP3s from my Temporary Internet Files folder to a flash drive and use the Shuffle setting in my vehicle to cause the musical sequence to be a surprise. Good luck!
  22. A GUI version of iTunes Export that runs under Adobe Air is also on that page and is directly downloadable here. Good luck!
  23. Now that you've filled the tank of your vehicle several times and you've driven hundreds of miles, have you done the math to calculate your vehicle's actual miles-per-gallon performance? Discussions on fuel economy by other Edge/MKX owners can be found here, here, here, and here. Good luck!
  24. If your Edge's fuel consumption history is 14 miles per gallon, then 252 miles would be normal. Good luck!
  25. EdgeSE: Help us understand your comments. You seem to be describing: 1) you recently bought this vehicle; 2) several times, when you attempt to fill the gas tank, it only accepts 14 gallons of fuel; 3) the vehicle's gas gauge shows FULL every time you fuel up the vehicle; 4) the "Distance to E" shown on your Message Center display is usually about 252 miles. When you are fueling up the vehicle, once the pump automatically shuts off the first time, do you stop pumping gas and hang up the nozzle, or do you manually continue pumping gas into your vehicle until the tank is absolutely full? Asked another way -- Are you certain your 18-gallon gas tank is filled to its 18-gallon capacity? Good luck!
