  1. Personally, I would look at a 2015+ then. They have drain plugs in the PTU regardless of engine. With regular servicing, should last indefinitely.
  2. The very first thing to do is verify the PCM is good. If the coil drivers are bad, then you will be in a vicious cycle replacing with new, frying them, replacing them again ... Fingers crossed, the PCM checks out. Then I would replace all spark plugs & coils to be on the safe side. There is a kit of plugs, coils, manifold gasket available direct from Ford, you can purchase from online dealerships for under $160 or thereabouts. BA5Z-12259-A
  3. Give some time and the Wizard appears to clear away any confusion
  4. The PTU is ONLY on the AWD models, and really tires will trump AWD in most situations for value.
  5. Do a search on "H&R springs" you will find examples from all Gens of Edge. MKX prob not nearly as many, but you will get an idea.
  6. search for "PTU Leaks Failures" and you will be amply rewarded. LOL.
  7. I guess same idea as an induction cleaning, but maybe done thru the spark plug wells?
  8. Did not see an SSM number on it is really why I reposted this. But yes Jason did post it some days ago!
  9. Welcome to the community, leftoverture. I think only the Limited and Sport get the HD radio, not even an option on the SEL trim level. Comes with the Sony system. Brochures for the 2013 & 2014 http://www.hillerford.com/v2/resource_library/2013/2013_brochures/2013edge.pdf http://www.hillerford.com/v2/resource_library/2014/2014_brochures/2014edge.pdf HIDs are another popular topic. You only get OEM HIDs with the Limited. And that too as an option with equipment group 301A or 302A. You can def improve upon the OEM bulbs if not happy with them, with offerings from Philips, Osram, etc. For halogens, you can go the aftermarket HID kit route. Plenty of discussion on the forum about that. Do you need/want AWD? Less maintenance going with FWD to be sure.
  10. Always recommend running full synthetic engine oil on Ecoboost engines, and as you stated, never out to the max. Note that the IOLM may state the need for a change at an interval well before that, depending on driving conditions/idling/WOT/etc. Ecoboosts are torture chambers for engine oil, which is why full synthetic will always be a better choice. Instead, make it a regular habit to go no longer than 6 months/5,000 miles whichever comes first. You may not get the max oil useful life, but providing that margin of safety, to me, is well worth it. You can peruse macbwt's engine oil analysis series on his YT channel, and while it may not include Magnatec (formerly Startup), it does provide some eyeopening data on the choices to be made: documents https://www.mactgarage.com/oil-analysis videos https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJb7karK2nhyA7G1BW6xESg/search?query=oil+testing+series I have not heard of anyone running Magnatec on an EB engine yet, at least with an oil analysis to back it up. HTH.
  11. Some 2015-2018 Edge and 2016-2018 MKX vehicles may require the replacement of the interior quarter trim cargo net hook. The cargo net hook can be serviced separately and no longer requires replacement of the interior quarter trim panel – Edge: H2GZ-78454A46-AA (Ebony), MKX: H2GZ-78454A46-BA (Coffee), H2GZ-78454A46-BB (Quartz), H2GZ-78454A46-BC (Black), H2GZ-78454A46-BD (Espresso). Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-05 for the updated repair procedure. APPLICABLE VEHICLES 2015 – 2018 CAR: DQ CD539N-EDGE 2016 – 2018 CAR: D9 U540 – LINCOLN MKX
  12. 2013 can use Motorcraft Orange coolant. You can use aftermarket universal extended life that has been used in place of the Motorcraft Gold and Green coolants, but I have a sneaking/unconfirmed suspicion that the Dex-Cool extended life coolants might be an even better fit for your Edge. It is advisable to completely flush out the old coolant before adding in new coolant, especially when changing brands. They may meet the spec, but do not have to arrive at it the same way. Due to the unknowns in how the chemistry might interact, purge the old before installing the new. Keeps the engine healthier in the long run. If its a topoff issue, I would rather just use a little distilled water than mix coolants. Keep a jug of distilled water in your emergency supplies. A dealership can even top it off for you with MC coolant if you are able to get your Edge there in time. No need to buy a full jug just to have it laying around.
  13. Time to post up in this thread http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/23250-comprehensive-list-of-possible-forscan-mods/
  14. A bit more info in hilokamper's thread http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/24232-add-equalizer-preset-buttons-with-forscan/?do=findComment&comment=184621 GEN 2: Converting OEM lighting to HID http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/24181-converting-from-halogen-to-oem-hid/
  15. Meh, that's why you have a Utility Vehicle. Always check your parachute before proceeding on mission.
  16. How have ambient temps been where you are? How many miles on the Edge? is it at 50K? Assuming you have a 3.5 or 3.7 for my response below. Radiator fans and/or coolant pump would be top suspects. Possibly faulty data from the CHT (cylinder head temperature) sensor, usually due to pests chewing up the sensor wiring. CHT is used to infer coolant temperature, there is no separate sensor for it. A stuck thermostat is very rare. So A] check coolant for oil and oil for coolant, just to be on the safe side. B] Verify that there is no coolant leak from the weephole. C] verify that the second fan comes on when A/C is activated and that both fans are not running all the time. Have not heard of a coolant gauge issue being software related, but maybe look into a PCM/IPC calibration update if physically everything checks out.
  17. Sorry to see ya go, but hope the ISF provides tons of fun!
  18. Stubby antennas are fairly common these days. One of the originals: https://www.cravenspeed.com/the-stubby-antenna-for-ford/ https://www.amazon.com/Antenna-Replacement-2007-2015-Installs-Resistant/dp/B00BPZAFFO
  19. Aha! Explains the purchase of the significant acreage with the house.
  20. 3.5 or 2.0? The degas bottle/coolant reservoir would be the first bet since you have the OEM Orange coolant. Perhaps the cap is not holding pressure or perhaps there is a crack in the reservoir itself. Have not heard of the hoses leaking, but would check anyway as the hose runs from the reservoir to the radiator. If it is possibly engine oil, you can check the VCT solenoids/valve cover, and also the engine oil pressure switch for leaks. Unlikely to be power steering or transmission fluids, I think.
  21. How much understeer is there in a stock Gen 2 Sport? Probably shows up less at "normal" or posted speed limits than say around a track, twisties, or autox'ing.
