The APIM might be failing. See if your vehicle still qualifies for the extended warranty at https://owner.ford.com CSP 12M02 -

No fuel smell, no leaks? No visible damage underneath to the fuel/EVAP lines? Part of the system is hidden by the underbody shield, so you will have to take off the shield to inspect for damage to the canister/canister vent valve etc.

Welcome to the community, and congrats on the Sport!

Great info! As an aside, Ford systems have also evolved for monitoring the cleanside operation. They started putting sensors in there, I want to say, about the 2015 MY? Not sure WHY they did that, but maybe enough people were complaining about their air filters getting unnaturally oily LOL.

2016 Edge Sport (G2) Front & Rear Sway Bars
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to snmjim's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Most excellent, right in line with what I have seen on my own cars. Good luck with the group buy! -
Are the Boss 302 and the GT350 supercharged? Forced induction engines behave a bit differently from normally aspirated engines, so the cleanside will have a greater chance of blowby there. But still, like you said, it won't be much compared to the dirtyside, which is usually 95% of the problem. With forced induction cleanside setups, you have to have a check ball/valve so it functions correctly under both boost and non-boost conditions. Probably easier to skip the CSS entirely.

So this is just the rear sway bar for now? I see only one item/price listed. -
check on eBay for shop service manuals, or download from https://www.factory-manuals.com/ford-edge&28&140 If you get several picks of DVDs for your model year, get the one with the most recent publication date. Sometimes small changes are made, and inaccuracies corrected, over the years.

Depends on location and shop. But a reasonable estimate for non-dealer shop would be $1,500 - $1,700 labor & parts, all in. Dealer of course, tack on 30% more easy. May be even higher in expensive locales.

car-part.com is a good place to start the search. Don't have recommendations for a particular place tho.

Ford is not the only one using timing chain driven water pumps. But the BIG bugaboo is not separating the coolant and the oil so there would be no chance of killing the engine over it.

Any 2007-10 engine from an Edge/MKX will work. I believe 3.5L from similar years on other model lines that are VCT, not TiVCT will likely be a plug n play. So a Taurus or a Flex 3.5L should work also, not sure exactly when they went to TiVCT. Oil cooler was normally included only with a towing package on the Edge, not sure about the MKX. It is easily perceptible when you look at the oil filter area, as the oil cooler has coolant lines to/from. If yours does not currently have the cooler but the donor engine does, just swap in the adapter plate from yours to the donor. If yours does have the cooler but the donor engine does not, then swap the oil cooler setup from yours to the donor engine. Shouldn't be any special steps necessary to make it happen.

Thank you for putting safety first! -
Larry, newer oil compositions are targeted to meet the latest specs, basically API SN+ or ILSAC GF6. These have come out due to the need for tackling issues with direct injection engines and carbon buildup/fuel dilution. Along with continuing improvements in fuel economy etc of course. It seems oils are moving towards more ashless composition to achieve goals, similar to the TCW3 specification for 2 cycle outboard/marine engines. So additives in oils are being reduced. It will be interesting to see how this plays out for engine life, whether you will have to have two tier specs for gasoline engines like what they have for diesel engines currently. Not yet decided. The best test still remains analysis from laboratories like Blackstone, since all us folks can only go by results Visual inspection of oil of course, both on the dipstick and through the oil fill hole, is also helpful in detecting varnish buildup. If there is no varnish and lab testing corroborates wear rates, you are probably good to go with the oil & OCI you chose to have tested. Note that if your driving conditions/style change, you should get the used oil retested to verify your oil/OCI is still good.

The best meth injection kit you can buy will come from Alky Controls. Talk to Julio there and you will see why.
