  1. I think the ballasts likely are at fault, OR not playing well with the Gen 2 system. Osram does have upgraded HID bulbs available, if you decide to go that route.
  2. Did you ask Buck this question? IDK if he has commenting turned off or not. I think he is on this forum as well, will ask him to assist if he can.
  3. Suprising the RDU failed before the PTU, but good to get a fresh start
  4. Probably a rusted retaining screw they used at the factory, if brakes are original to the vehicle. I believe the screws were only used on the rear rotors.
  5. Nothing a dab of superglue won't fix, LOL. Are these original to your Edge?
  6. More of a benefit to have the fans reprogrammed with the tune. That is the bigger factor. Come on sooner, run longer is the Livernois strategy, and they say it helps prolong fan life.
  7. The Edge sucks! Ford Sucks! LOL LOL LOL
  8. It is ridiculously easy to be independent checking for codes. Nobody with a modern vehicle should be without a) an OBD II adapter, and b] Forscan Lite (Ford/Lincoln/some Mazda) software in the vehicle. Permanent codes will remain, temporary codes will be erased upon restarting the vehicle. The next time the CEL pops up, do not restart the engine. Instead, place the ignition in the ON position and read the code(s). Hopefully there will be something tangible to assist with a solution.
  9. Truth be told there is a lot of snake oil being sold as catch cans. A healthy dose of skepticism is duly warranted from the average DIY'r/owner. A lot of fancy looking products that are in fact plain trash. The JLT is definitely a nice product though, and seems like the 2.7 could use a good catch can. I would highly recommend folks to get intimate with examining their intercoolers periodically for evidence of oil/fuel/water deposition. At the very least, all you need is the engine oil dipstick. Get a USB borescope if you want to go into more detail.
  10. Welcome and congrats on the new ride! Sorry about your Focus, tho Regardless of maintenance history, if you have an AWD Edge, PTU/RDU fluids should be R&R'd at the earliest. This goes double for the 2017 F Sport, too little fluid in a very compact unit. Hope you enjoy the Edge for a LONG time to come! 6 years have come and gone for me already LOL.
  11. Check online for the latest revisions, I believe it was 24 oz for the PTU last I saw. They have a handy dandy HTML version now! http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/vdirsnet/OwnerManual/Home/Index?bookcode=O27061&marketCode=US&languageCode=EN&VIN=&userMarket=USA&div=f Rear differential (All Wheel Drive) fluid 2.4 pt (1.15L) Power Transfer Unit (PTU) fluid (All Wheel Drive) 23.7 fl oz (.7 L) Full specs for the Sport CAPACITIES AND SPECIFICATIONS - 2.7L ECOBOOST™ Capacities WARNING The air conditioning refrigerant system contains refrigerant under high pressure. 12. Well, a lot of aftermarket tuners also blame spark blowout for issues with their tunes. Not usually the case. Now Ford did gap the plugs smaller with Gen 5 of the SHO, but it is hard to tell why they did that. Was it due to programming updates, or did they think they were running the engine too lean, or ... etc. But if it works for you, great! Just be sure to use proper technique/tools as already mentioned
  13. Welcome to the community, Dan, and congrats on the new ride!

  15. Correct, 2007-10 Edge have the 70.6 mm center bore.
  16. Batteries are definitely the first and quickest part to check in these conditions. If the fob battery has never been replaced, do that first. OR have the vehicle battery tested for Cold Cranking Amps, using a digital tester (any major auto parts store can do it for free).
  17. I would second the wheel bearing, because that is basically what happened with my 2007. The car would behave fine unless a) it was fully loaded with passengers, AND b] I was driving for an extended period of time. But usually it was while trying to make a left turn or turning left, you could feel the right wheel drag, and I would hear something like cymbals or ball bearings rolling loosely. I checked the RF tire, and you could see the wear/feathering from being dragged. The dealer finally acknowledged the RF bearing was at fault and replaced it. A very few Gen 2 Edges have had issues with the axle/bearing, so more fuel for the fire. Of course, since so few have had issues, there is no bulletin from Ford on it.
  18. Wow, that is one sweet ride! Congrats, and welcome to the community!
  19. SSM 47240 – 2016-2017 Various Vehicles – SYNC 3 Navigation Map Updates Map Upgrades are now available for 2016-2017 Ford and Lincoln vehicles built with SYNC 3 Navigation. The navigation map upgrade for SYNC 3 systems is accomplished with a Universal Serial Bus (USB) drive. The USB drive will need to contain the map data along with the Map License file; both of these files are required to complete the update. The USB drive required to perform map updates can be ordered from the Ford Electronic Service Group on the PTS OASIS Home page on-line 1878 form. The SYNC 3 navigation map upgrade is currently offered as a customer pay upgrade (non warrantable) and a dealer only installation. This navigation map upgrade only covers US/Canada/Mexico. 20. SSM 47251 – 2015-2018 Edge/2016-2018 MKX – Remote Start Selections Grayed Out For Heated Steering Wheel/Heated Seats Some 2015-2018 Edge and 2016-2018 MKX vehicles may exhibit a concern with the remote start selections for heated steering wheel and/or heated seats grayed out in the cluster. To correct this concern, reconfigure the front controls interface module (FCIM) using As-Built Programming. Make sure you are connected to the internet when entering module programming to obtain the latest data. If the concern is still present, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-10A for the directed self-test for the FCIM. For claiming, use causal part 18842 and applicable labor operations in Section 11 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. 21. veneer, you are correct, the device does come with preloaded tunes, which do not hold a candle to custom tunes. So buy the device from the OP, then buy the tunes you want/need. Pretty easy.
  22. SSM 47325 – 2015-2018 Edge, 2017-2018 F-Super Duty – Climate Controlled Seats Inoperative -Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) B2729, B2730, B272A, And/Or B272B Some 2015-2018 Edge and 2017-2018 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit inoperative climate controlled seats. This may be due to excessive sunload on the seats causing the front seat climate control module (SCME) to set DTCs B2729, B2730, B272A, and/or B727B. Clear these codes and perform an On Demand Self-Test. If the codes do not return, the repair is complete. If the codes return, follow normal diagnostics found in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-10A.
