  1. the interval is more important than the brand. don't try to overextend intervals, either in terms of time or mileage. use a good filter. motorcraft certainly does a good job, but there are better filters, my preferred one being the Purolator Boss (if you can find it lol). your ride is nearly 15 years old. i don't know if it has had a water pump timing pump job done yet, but if not, do yourself a favor and step up to at least a 5W30 oil yearround. Shell Rotella Gas Truck has made the engine run the quietest in my testing, but quietness doesn't have a correlation to wear.
  2. so ... when is the ribbon cutting for your new warehouse?
  3. any changes in tire/wheel sizes from oem? if the odo/speedo is off, typically the nav will be too. battery might be involved if it is weak and not providing proper voltage to the various modules in the vehicle but that is a very long shot.
  4. there are spreadsheets around the web to help with that. search for f150 forscan spreadsheets, and it should point you in the right direction.
  5. throttle body failures on ecoboosts are rare, but they do happen. have seen a couple on the 3.5 EB where the cap on the motor flies off, as well. but none really on the Edge/MKX platform. doesn't mean there couldnt be a one-off situation. also sometimes the crud that builds up in the intercooler can get sucked into the throttle body/intake, so i would inspect the intercooler for any buildup. there was indeed a 3.5 engined throttle body issue for 2015, but that was the extent of it. if you are not finding any mechanical reason, by default, you would look to electrical reasons. electricity does not mix well with water, and 2015 was a BAD year for leaks into the cabin and who knows where else. check the pcm connections for instance for water intrusion/rust.
  6. IMHO it is a rookie mistake to send non fuel resistant hoses with catch cans. more so with direct injection vehicles.
  7. what MY is your Edge? but yes if the reset isn't working, it is most likely the actuator in need of replacement. there are 2 in a dual climate system (assuming 2007-2014), the standard one in the driver side of the dashboard, and the added one behind the glove box for dual zone. the whir is from the blower, could be a clogged filter or a bad blower motor. i would check the filter plus for any debris in the motor itself first.
  8. Frazzled trying to upgrade your Sync2 to the hallowed v3.10? jangus just might have the answer
  9. @jangus nice writeup, thank you. sure to help a bunch of frustrated owners out there. btw, my wife uses Notepad++ for her daily work routines as well.
  10. @ChickieSailor i hope you have an honest dealership. but first, we need to know MY, engine, mileage and all the good stuff to give you a targeted response.
  11. interesting read. really shouldn't have to have paid anything but a deductible, i agree. and yes, you are not the only one to have had 2 vehicles with coolant issues and similar tales to yours, lol. luckily you have a 2019, so probably avoid the cracked flexplate issue that showed up on the 2015-2018 MYs.
  12. you may be able to get an estimate off of repairpal.com - on us spec vehicles anyway
  13. check the oil filter gasket, doublegasketing can cause a leak check the oil pressure switch, to the left of the oil filter. the switch seal (loctite basically) can fail, causing oil to leak.
  14. usually it is a power steering line at fault. if you have AWD, it can leak between the transmission and PTU (front "differential"). most times it will leak PTU fluid (black and smelly) but sometimes it will leak trans fluid also. suggest cleaning the area thoroughly with engine degreaser or brake parts cleaner (CFC free) then following it as it develops to pinpoint the culprit.
  15. motorcraft is optimal for price vs performance, but you can certainly upgrade to reliable name brands with more advanced tech. lifespan is yet to be proven in comparison, but 2011 on with the Ti-VCT, plug life has not been as much of an issue.
  16. @snmjim i might have missed it but did you post your edge for sale on the forum? if not, is there a link elsewhere we can peruse?
  17. local JY, LKQ, or car-part.com. ebay might be fruiful as well.
  18. i imagine if it is the factory rotors on the ST, that the 18s would fit. centric lists 345 mm discs for fronts. what i can't confirm is caliper clearance.
  19. many modules nowadays, including the IPC (instrument panel cluster), are programmable.
  20. had my shop do it, so no idea how difficult it is. they did charge 1.5 hrs labor so ...
  21. if you have had your vehicle outside in extremely cold weather, it is possible the fuel rail cracked. we have had at least one member on the MACT FB page suffer that issue. if you put a catch can on the engine, it is possible the hoses are not fuel rated. some other problems i have seen on ford direct injection vehicles are faulty pulse dampeners, failed fuel line couplings at the high pressure fuel pump, and rarely a broken cam (from HPFP usage). if excessive fuel dilution is occurring, it may be smelled from the exhaust as the fumes exit the tailpipes. natural gas/propane odors typically are from leaking PTU fluid. catalytic converters also offgas when the vehicle has low mileage.
  22. electronic versions available for cheap nowadays are incomplete compared to just a couple of years ago. you may want to get an online subscription instead from Mitchells, Chilton, Alldata, etc. coupons on retailmenot.com
