Check for codes that might be set in the PCM first. Could simply be that a new mulftifunction switch (wiper stalk) is needed, but best to make sure. Any major auto parts store should be able to read/print out these codes for free.

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?

Exhaust system? -
I wonder if MT tested with 91 or that is an official Ford number. Anything short of 93 usually is an incremental step up in performance.

Fail-ing not fail-ed There is always a little bit of loss via the weepholes and degas bottle if need be. So if the TStat is not opening on time or fully, it could impede cooling a little, cause the coolant to run hotter, cause a little more loss than usual. The losses would begin to add up over time. TStats are typically designed to fail in the open position, but anything is possible, especially on a Gen 1 with original Gold coolant.

Get Forscan Lite for Android/iOS. Pair with an OBDII adapter. Watch temps in realtime. The temp gauge as it were is an "idiot" gauge. Not really useful for telling you where in the normal temp range the coolant is. Maybe temps have been creeping up over time due to a failing thermostat, for example. The temp gauge would be blissfully oblivious. Though TStat failure is rare, it is an easy task to replace. So you could just toss a new one in first, see if it makes a difference. Getting to the CHT sensor (doubles as an ECT sensor) and of course the water pump is much more labor intensive.

Ford Protect has the option to get a rental car from day 1 of service. I would call and ask about it, whether the car has to be estimated to be in the shop overnight or not etc. Always keeping in mind of course that (no pun intended) crossover point when you should look into moving into your next vehicle. Does not have to be new. Just in great condition, and with a nice warranty.

There is no official "howto" but plenty of people will show you the basics of how they replaced the PTU fluid. the_natrix originally did a writeup on installing a drain plug as well. I think everything is in the "PTU leak / failures" thread. Buck Newby does have PTU related videos on his YT channel, I would check those out. https://www.youtube.com/user/buckn32

Intermittent "Service AdvanceTrac" Message

No plastic panels to deal with. You have to remove the wheel/tire to get to each one tho. -
You can always purchase the Ford Protect warranty, but probably will be 2,000$ from an online dealer, or thereabouts. About $100 inspection fee to get approval for the warranty.

If you are not hearing a noise while turning, predominantly in one direction vs the other), then likely the wheel bearings are still OK. Yeah you can try spinning the tire/looking for play while the Edge is jacked up/lifted, but that test does not necessarily work with sealed wheel bearings. If you have an AWD, I would suggest to you to look to that next. PTU fluid/RDU fluid replacement are crucial, especially if you are not driving a lot or are driving primarily city/mixed conditions.

A custom tune is the only way 2 go IMHO. Such as from UnleashedTuning.com (Torrie).

Ford Part No.: 7T4Z-9C490-A Manifold - Vacuum Supply Part Description Manifold - Vacuum Supply Replaced By BT4Z-9C490-B This part fits the vehicle you selected: 2008 Ford Edge 6 Cyl 3.5L DOHC VCT SMPI; 6-Speed Automatic Transmission 6F50 The vehicle options this part fits: Production Date: 11/2006-12/2014 The check valve is part of the vacuum hose assembly. Is the hose on the intake tube connected, easy to forget to do so. Also make sure the hose from the back of the intake manifold to the booster is properly secured. That clamp can be a bear.

NO this kit is only for the naturally aspirated 3.5/3.7 Engines. Will not work on Ecoboost engines at all.

You can read the entire thread for your own edification, but here is the TSB I was referring to, many thanks to omar302 for posting it! http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/11282-shift-to-park-warning-when-its-in-park/page-7?do=findComment&comment=183459

Used to be you could post a direct link as the first line of the post. No longer a restriction AFAIK.
-
No extended warranty unless you bought one yourself. There is a TSB for the Shift to Park/Shifter Not in Park issue that confirms replacing a switch in the shifter assembly fixes the issue.
-
Yup sure looks like it. A periodic sweeper routine perhaps? Anyhoo, updated the post, should work ... for now ...

Fuel filter is intank. Have to drop the tank to get to it. Actually a "sock" integral to the fuel pump itself.
