2018 Edge Sunroof Whistle
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Kane's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
A couple of questions from people I asked: Can you feel the fractures? If so, are they both outside/inside, or which side is more easily felt? Also, can you please grab a closeup pic of the labeling on the glass? Might be able to figure out something from that. -
2018 Edge Sunroof Whistle
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Kane's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Don't think I have come across a report on this particular issue. Very likely that if you open it up fully, you will be able to find a loose rubber strip or two. It only happens when closed, right? Or does it happen in TILT, or fully open modes as well? -
Does not look like an impact issue to me, but I would get it looked at by 2 or more independent parties. I dunno if there is a workaround to involving the insurance company, since coverage has elapsed (1 year/12K miles IIRC). But if Ford is pushing back, you can as well - pending confirmation from said parties that impact is not the issue. People should not be required to have glass coverage when purchasing vehicles with BAMRs, it is not even suggested in the warranty or owners manual anywhere. On a side note, this issue with glass is usually at low mileages/first couple of years of vehicle production. Literally as if the glass needs time to "set" in place. So it is possible that the frame is "settling", leading to stress fractures. Much like house windows. Just a theory. Not a Ford-only issue for sure.

2016 Edge Transmission Hard Shifting
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Maverick's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
Could also try Valvoline MaxLife instead of Motorcraft LV. I think they have started putting an active warmpup for the transmission, but have to dblchk which transmissions it applies to - 6f35/50/55. The transmission fluid cooling system consists of the following: An oiltoair transmission fluid cooler integrated with the A/C condenser A transmission fluid cooler bypass valve If equipped, a transmission fluid warmer Tubes to all fluid to flow to the various components The transmission fluid flows from the transmission to the cooler bypass valve. When the transmission fluid is below normal operating temperature, the bypass valve directs the flow back to the transmission. When the transmission fluid is at or above normal operating temperature, the bypass valve directs the flow through the transmission fluid cooler, which transfers heat from the fluid to the air passing over the cooler. The transmission fluid then returns to the transmission. The transmission fluid warmer optimized transmission fluid temperature. The transmission fluid warmer transfers heat either from the coolant to the transmission fluid or from the transmission fluid to the coolant. If equipped, the transmission fluid flows through the warmer. When the coolant is warmer than the transmission fluid, heat is transferred from the coolant to the transmission fluid, warming the transmission fluid quickly to improve efficiency. When the transmission fluid is warmer than the coolant, heat is transferred from the transmission fluid to the coolant, providing additional transmission fluid cooling. -
What is the maintenance history on this vehicle? Spark plugs, coils, PCV valve, throttle body cleaning, MAF cleaning? Also when were all of the fluids in the vehicle replaced, if ever?

Congratulations, and welcome! Owned Fords before? Pics to share?

A periodic application of Techron Concentrate Plus (once every 6 months or 5,000 miles) or BG 44K (once every year or 10,000 miles) will not hurt regardless of the gas you choose to use. There are some doubts of the efficacy of such "cleaners" in GDI applications, you can use MMO/TC-W3 (4-5 oz to a tank, every tank) if you choose. That will also help. OR run Shell 93 w NITRO+. That indeed makes a noticeable difference, naturally aspirated or forced induction. More power, smoother, etc. Mobil/Exxon Synergy is also good, but not as good as Shell Nitro+ in my experience.

Moog - Rear Wheel Bearing Assembly
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Van G's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
SKF > Motorcraft > Timken. Moog is not a great choice for wheel bearings from what I have heard. -
have not heard of a dealership doing the 3x procedure. A fluid exchange is typically between $150-200, depending on area. Including fluid.

Which version of the MyCal do you have? I think there are three in all. The original was a touchscreen, v2 was no touchscreen, and v3 is their latest, friendlier, more powerful interface. So if you have a v2, it is definitely a good idea to upgrade to v3 anyway if you can swing it.

a bit more info as furnished by ford.oemdtc.com April 15, 2016 2015 Edge – To Drive: Press Brake And Start Button Message After Genuine Ford Accessory Remote Start Installation After installation of a Genuine Ford Accessory remote start system, some 2015 Edge vehicles can exhibit a To Drive: Press Brake and Start Button message that stays illuminated in the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) message center after a remote start session is completed. After cycling the ignition key, the message may still be illuminated in the IPC message center. Update the IPC module to the latest level calibration using IDS or Ford J2534 version 95.04 or higher. Make sure you are connected to the internet when entering module programming to obtain the latest updates. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraftservice.com

Long periods of idling (gen 1.5) will cause a false warning, there is a TSB addressing it.

Intercooler Grill & AGS (2016 Sport)
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to snmjim's topic in Accessories & Modifications
i would say swimmingly ... but given the weather today ... LOL! Hope you & yours are keeping safe! -
Drain and Fill 3x is an official, factory approved procedure, in case anyone is having second thoughts. Still difficult on the 6F35, but not bad at all on the 6F50/55.

hopefully will get attention within the week. most do not visit the forum very often :( -
Ford has traditionally had two categories: normal and severe/special operating conditions. I see they added a third category (extreme), for 2019 (?). Anyway, you can look up Ford recommended intervals online at https://www.fleet.ford.com/partsandservice/maintenance-schedules/ ...

Pull the AWD/4x4 fuse? Check in owner's manual for location, but should not have anything else on that circuit. Oops looks like the A/C clutch relay is also on F70 in the BJB ... so no a/c related functions if you pull that fuse ... I suppose you could pull the connector off the AWD/4x4 module directly (located in the spare tire comparment, I believe).

Sorry to hear about this almost-runin. Puts a damper on the enthusiasm for sure Best of luck, and hope those miscreants get their due at the soonest. I think Pre-Crime may have a role to play after all, LOL.
