The fill plug, spec'd at 33 ft lb. the drain plug, no idea. Ford does not officially acknowledge the drain plug in Gen 2 PTUs, and many dealers are likely unaware of it as well. If you insist on the fact it has both a drain and fill plug, it is meant to be drained, you will likely be able to get their trans tech to service the ptu.

Noise after front strut replacement
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Father of Ford 702's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Check to make sure there is no crossthreading on the bolts. I know there is an orientation thing with KYB struts, so I would confirm with them directly on that. People installing H&R lowering springs have noticed creaking issues due to improperly seated springs. -
At least with Gen 1.5, the bulky +ve terminal has giant fuses attached to it to explain the "weirdness"
-
As long as enough material is left in the bore, the wheels should work. I think I have seen 1 or 2 gen 1 Edges running gen 1.5 Sport wheels.

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?

We know this video is fake, because you are NEVER out for a "leisure" drive, LOL. Glad an incident was avoided! Sound clips? -
Welcome and congrats! Looking forward to your impressions on how it performs for you.

May be a faulty transmission. May be incorrect fluid. May be fluid level is too low. Assumption also is that all sensors are working correctly. Not the first time a used transmission has not worked out. Also, the transmission cooler is supposed to be flushed whenever a transmission is changed. In addition, the solenoid body strategy has to be updated in the PCM. There could be engine related issues as well. But first, pull codes from the PCM, then let's see.

Cooling Fans staying on when car off 2017 Edge 2.0
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to bcultra's topic in 2015+ Edge & MKX Generation II
May need a new fan assembly. Probably covered under powertrain warranty, but not sure. I know they had to replace some assemblies due to noise, but have not heard of faults/failures otherwise. -
The 6F55 was introduced in the 2015 MY, for the Sport Are you referring to the valve body modification TSB, Fingernip?

Welcome to the community! Post some pics of your Edge

Most full synthetics will not last 15,000 miles in special operating conditions. If you choose to use the IOLM to remind you, make sure the oil outlasts the IOLM and use a full synthetic media filter to go with.
-
I will repeat that you only have the dealer's word that the oil was serviced. Personally, paying for an oil change right away at a trusted mechanic is a small price to pay for peace of mind Some oils do not look dirty even with miles on them, for various reasons. Anyhoo, enjoy the Edge
-
I am a little confused (more than normal). Has the transmission fluid been completely changed or not? It should be. Coils should have been checked & electrically verified at the time the plugs were replaced. If they were not, they could still be a problem. MAF and TB should definitely be kept clean. I hope you have kept the coolant changed as well, to save the water pump/engine. Power steering fluid? PTU fluid and RDU fluid both can be serviced through the fill plugs they both have. Dealers may not do it (Ford policy on "lifetime"), but any competent independent shop/quick lube place/trans shop can do it. how many miles on the Edge? pretty early for a WB to die.

If you live in a hot area of Texas, Arizona, Florida etc. you could probably use the 5W30 without detriment. But 5W20 full synthetic usually does well in non-extreme climates.

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
When done as regular maintenance, the DI service should be fine. Ford engines do not build up nearly as much on the backs of intake valves as other similar setups. Of course dual setups (PFI/DI) have the best of both worlds. You can always have the valves scoped prior to service. If it looks relatively clean, get the service done, and do it every 30K miles, less if tuned. Or fit in a methanol injection kit into your future plans. -
The spec number differences are for two different viscosities of oils - 945 is 5w20, 946 is 5w30. Does not intimate higher quality.
-
Wouldn't worry about the past. These engines can last a good LONG time. Just take care of it going forward.
-
I assume you have a Gen 2 Edge, Ducati?
-
If the oil was changed frequently, and it met the API SN spec, should be fine. I would have the oil changed immediately to full synthetic, and the IOLM set to 100% if you intend to rely upon it. It seems paradoxical to let the IOLM run down based on someone else's assertion about the oil change, and you intention to be a longterm owner of the vehicle. Such a small cost for peace of mind. I assume you have the 3.5L engine in your Edge, since 5W20 is being used?
-
1900 miles? on an ST? Ford and/or the dealership should take care of you, warranty language aside. Not the first time they have had issues with tire beads on a SporT.
-
seems to be independent problems, could be conjoined by a fault in the BCM. I don't think I saw info on what year Edge, how many miles, and how old the battery is. Sometimes fuses pop out partially, so make sure they are seated firmly (under driver side dash). When the car battery is giving up the ghost, all kinds of weird electronic symptoms will manifest. So check the CCAs on the battery with a digital tester like the Solar BA7. Any major auto parts shop can do this for you for free. If the RCM is triggered, it would lead to airbag lights. Usually due to a collision of some sort. Did you use OEM/Motorcraft replacement parts?

Ford has coil plug gasket kit for 2007-10, $160 or so shipped. Saves a TON of money right there. Buy online at any Ford dealer, or on eBay. Part number ba5z12259a Don't need a heated PCV valve, just the regular one, saves a tiny bit there as well. And welcome to the community!
