Welcome! How much mileage on your Edge? Makes me suspect the solenoid body. It can be checked without any disassembly required. If the electrical values are near the limits of allowable specs, replace it along with the solenoid body filter. A simpler item could be the torque mount/dogbone. easy to check, a little harder to replace on AWD, but 2 hrs shop labor or DIY if you are handy.

Given the driving scene these days, not surprised. Those drivers may have been perfect the rest of the drive, and just got tuckered out for that moment. Following their journey and talking to them is the only way to know. Also if there is a way to easily blot out license plates, please do it.

So it does not do it in N? Could be purge valve, torque converter, flywheel, ... Do you feel a vibration of any sort, any unusual noise? Is the A/C cycling on and off? If the compressor is drawing too much power, that can happen. I am assuming no codes set in the PCM?

get more life out of them. bank 1 (firewall side) coils are in a heat intensive environment with comparatively low airflow. So if all the coils are good, put the ones that have faced less challenges on the back, and the back ones on the front.

I think it is worth it do so yes. And at least rotate the coils front to back/back to front if not replacing them entirely. 2007 & 2008 were problematic years with coils/PCM going bad from worn plugs.

you sir are absolutely correct! In any case, seems to be a fair bit of annual mileage on the vehicle, so you would not think typical severe operating conditions type issues. But never hurts to start with looking at the plugs, as they tell the story of what is happening inside the engine.

Firing order is defined in terms of cylinder #, not the other way round. Cylinder numbering is 1 2 3 4 as you look from left to right (pass side to driver side of the engine). On an ecoboost, could be a spark plug or fuel injector. If plug is bad, replace them all. You have not stated mileage on your 2017 ...

Mileage on your edge? Maintenance history including plugs/coils/pcv valve? could be misfiring, in which case the CEL should flash.

how many miles on your Edge? have the plugs/coils/pcv valve been serviced yet? could be bad fuel or sticking injector(s). if this just started happening, check to see if a changeover to winter fuel has occurred in your area. run a bottle of HEET (yellow) thru the tank, see if that helps. does the CEL flash at any time during this event?
