  1. What year Edge do you have? Does the steering wheel lock after turning off the Edge?
  2. Oil is doing just fine. Knowing the TBN would be helpful, but sounds like the IOLM is doing good 4 you. Only the Shell Rotella GT was tested in the 5W30 viscosity, but the change to SN+ certification I believe has led to more "hidden" ingredients/additives that normal oil testing will not discover. For used oil analysis, the wear element numbers and the properties will continue to hold value.
  3. I believe TxFordOwner (sp?) has kits available for you to upgrade to Sync3.
  4. I would. Though summer tires today are better than ever, and can handle rain pretty well, snow and ice are a bit beyond their capabilities. While you could "manage", the last thing you want to do is not have solid road control in adverse conditions. Honestly, if you can manage two sets of wheels/tires, get snow tires instead, such as the Nokian Hakkapeliittas.
  5. yes, could definitely be the BMS. There is a current sensor on the positive terminal. But not one case of it being a problem yet. You either have a bad +ve battery terminal, have not allowed the battery to rest 8 hours or more after charging to allow the BMS to reset itself, have a parasitic draw, or have a battery slowly going kaput. You can force the BMS to reset by using Forscan Lite, or have the dealer do it. Sometimes the "automatic" system does not work correctly.
  6. First, we need to know the symptoms that led you to believe that the transmission had failed. Including any codes set in the PCM. Second, please provide details on maintenance to the engine and transmission prior to the first and second failures. The PCM controls transmission shift behavior, so if the engine is not running right, it will affect transmission shifting. The transmission is electrically controlled, so failure in sensors could easily cause transmission problems. But since transmission replacement did not fix it, I do not believe the issue is the transmission. These 6Fxx transmissions LOVE new fluid, you will want to change frequently to keep them running correctly. Since you are in a tropical zone, severe/special operating conditions apply. Every 3 years/50K kms on the outside.
  7. basically, the recommendation to change over to spec green was a result of this field service action from Ford 09M04 09M04-S1 Certain 2007 through 2009 model year Edge and MKX Vehicles - Cooling System Corrosion.pdf
  8. While the Gold is spec'd for early MYs of the Edge/MKX, it is NOT recommended anymore due to possible issues with the coating in the coolant crossover tube. This becomes a risk for a clogged heater core, which is an expensive job if you are not DIY'ing.
  9. Possibly head gasket or microcracking of the head at the water jacket. Turbo issues would mean replacing at the least coolant line seals, or turbo or other components not part of the long block.
  10. Check for codes; you need a reader that checks ALL the modules in the vehicle, not just powertrain. The 8 time blink is to let you know the vehicle is not ready for emissions testing yet. So there should be a P1000, maybe other codes. Service engine soon: The Service engine soon indicator light illuminates when the ignition is first turned to the ON position to check the bulb and to indicate whether the vehicle is ready for Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) testing. Normally, the Service engine soon- light will stay on until the engine is cranked, then turn itself off if no malfunctions are present. However, if after 15 seconds the Service engine soon-light blinks eight times, it means that the vehicle is not ready for I/M testing. See the Readiness for Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) testing in the Maintenance and Specifications chapter. Sure all the electrical has been hooked up? Usually it is sensors or pinched wiring, but it could be that the restraint control module (for example) needs to be reset, or the inertia switch for fuel shutoff has been tripped, etc.
  11. this may help https://www.fordpartsgiant.com/parts-list/2016-ford-edge/intake-manifold.html?Filter=(30940) M6 x 22MM
  12. Welcome and congrats! It is very possible Sync has not been updated since it left the factory. If you have the big 8" screen, updating the software to version 3.10 will make it much easier to enjoy the system. Check out Sync Support at owner.ford.com for details.
  13. no cooler kit for gen 1 or gen 1.5. Began in gen 2, AFTER Ford put it on the Police Interceptors in the 2013MY, SHO, Flex, Explorer, etc. Gen 2 introduced the 2.7 twin turbo Ecoboost, which is what you are seeing the power numbers for. The problem is the inherent limitations of the 3.5/3.7 block/head design coupled with the 6F50 transmission. The ecoboost versions have larger PTUs, but until 2013, none of them had a cooled PTU. And still problematic if you do not service them regularly. Police fleets recommend every 10K for severe duty service, and have minimized failures that way. The Gen 2 Sport PTU has TWICE the fluid capacity of the Gen 1/1.5 PTUs. TWICE.
  14. There was also a halfshaft related recall on certain Gen 1.5 Edge/MKX vehicles - 14S10. While your 2011 is not included, may have similar issues. Otherwise, as above. REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL In some of the affected vehicles, the circlip that retains the right-hand halfshaft to the intermediate shaft may not have been fully seated during assembly. A halfshaft that is not fully seated may move outward over time, which can result in NVH, damage to the shaft splines, and/or halfshaft disengagement from the intermediate shaft. If the two shafts fully disengage, the halfshaft will no longer transmit torque to the wheel, and the vehicle will experience loss of drive function. Additionally, if the two shafts are disengaged, unexpected vehicle movement may occur if the gearshift lever is placed in the “Park” position without the park brake being applied, increasing the risk of a crash. 15. Have you checked the coolant level with engine off/cold? Should be at top of COLD FILL RANGE. When was the last time you flushed the coolant? If the GOLD coolant is in there, it needs to be evicted pronto. Hopefully the heater core is not clogged. I doubt it is the cabin filter (or screen) but worth a check. Sometimes debris from leaves or pests will block ducting also (fingers crossed not the case). The blend door would affect the temperature on both sides, the blower/filter/ducts affect air volume.
  16. Check out rockauto.com and do a search on the part number. There are alternatives but not sure how much $$$ you will save. Sunsong has +ve reviews on Amazon, but IDK anyone here or on FB that has installed this brand.
