  1. Ok. Cam phaser noise MAY be related to this tapping noise. I have listened to some of the YouTube vids out there, not quite the same. Sounds more to me like the old rocker arm/lifter tapping sounds. This may help: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/7693-ford-edge-engine-noise-getting-worse/
  2. Variables & variability!!! Bane of those seeking accurate information
  3. There has been a TSB for the transmission range sensor, I think, for prev model years. Could be the same issue.
  4. If I may ask, what oil are you using for the engine? 5W20 or 0W30 or ... Insufficient lubrication or oil that is too thin could be a culprit, that's why I ask.
  5. I guess you are in a wait & see situation for now, unfortunately. Did the dealer refer you to documentation re: the 1 qt/1000 mile use? Owner's manual? Very interesting. Never had that problem with any of the cars I have owned since new.
  6. Leaky turbo or oil cooler comes to mind right away. Are you seeing any blue smoke out the exhaust? Any smell/drips on road/garage floor? More serious implications could be blown head gasket (in which case coolant would be compromised and color of oil/coolant would change due to mixing) or bad piston ring(s) creating blowby.
  7. Kewl! Now that the interior is protected, we need to armor up the exterior More stuff to do!
  8. There does seem to be a noise besides the fuel injectors ticking. Don't know what it could be though, maybe a pulley bearing?
  9. If you want a rugged stubby antenna, a good choice would be http://www.cravenspeed.com/products/The-Stubby-Antenna.html An alternative to the OEM bumper protector is the Scion bumper protector (discussed here) which happens to almost perfectly fit the Edge. Price does fluctuate on Amazon, occasionally you can grab it for around $55 + S/H. You can also get it here for about $57 shipped http://www.trdsparks.com/displayparts.php?Mdl_dtl=631&Part_cat=26&parts_id=3251 EGR USA, a sponsor of this forum does have a hood deflector/window visor product, you will have to read up on these yourself Weathertech visors seem to work well, as do Weathertech floor mats.
  10. Sorry to hear about your Odyssey, hope your new Edge will be a worthy replacement. Welcome, participation is actively encouraged!
  11. Welcome to life with the Edge, and be sure to share your experiences, thoughts, and questions! Not a whole lot of mods by way of engine/powertrain, but lots of options as mentioned above for pretty much everything else.
  12. Congrats & welcome to the community! Two great vehicles, IMHO. The turn signal on mine is a pain, tho not as much as yours. Asked the dealership, they indicated it's normal. Since you did not get it new, it is possible that it has BECOME annoyingly difficult over time, and so I would definitely have it looked at. Still under warranty, especially. This has been a problem on other vehicles in Ford's lineup, but I have not seen/heard anything done about it by Ford yet.
  13. Welcome, hope your quest goes well! Did you by any chance own/drive an XR7?
  14. Could try getting the PCM flashed, if there is a new version out. There are various transmission TSBs over the years that may be kinda related.
  15. There is a video writeup on YouTube related to the Vista roofs, I haven't sat through this 3 parter, but may be helpful.
  16. The thought that comes immediately to mind is that the front and rear springs are swapped. The front is supposed to lower 1.75 & rear 1.5 inches, correct?
  17. Hopefully the event stored a code(s). Could be indirectly related to the PCM Calibration TSB for slowing down & having a firm shift/clunk when tipping the throttle. Doesn't sound like the throttle body itself.
  18. Tarek, any gasoline 87-93 octane should be fine for your Explorer. Performance should be improved with 93 octane, though can't speak for how your MPGs are affected.
  19. Can you put up a video so we can listen to this sound as well? Hard to hazard a guess otherwise.
  20. Nice find. Any idea if these units are reliable? GPS updates? Thanks.
  21. I guess if you have an AWD "truck", you are not supposed to be going that fast in the first place! LOL Thanks, Ford, for watching out for us :hysterical2:
  22. And surely, we shouldn't have to use them as a Fix-It!
  23. MPG will likely be disappointing for a coupla thousand miles initially as the engine/drivetrain settles in. Should pick up nicely after that, and certainly after the first oil change. Quite a few modders on here, and they lend their knowledge/experience willingly. Ask away if you have Q's, and certainly we welcome any "new" ideas you may have!
