  1. Probably a malfunctioning multifunction switch (or a blown fuse if all the wipers are inoperative). This link may shed some light: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/12632-right-blinker-wont-stay-on-possible-causes/ The MFS removal/installation procedure: Removal and Installation NOTE: Release the upper steering column shroud by pressing inward on the sides of the shroud and lifting upwards. Remove the upper steering column shroud.Release the tilt lever, remove the 3 screws and then remove the lower steering column shroud.Disconnect the multi-function switch electrical connector.Remove the 2 multi-function switch screws and remove the switch. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  2. Cold weather loves to put crimps in plans! Hope you get both items done successfully & get back to enjoying being the driver, not the mechanic.

    New Year

Thank you (sentiment ECHO ECHo ECho Echo echo'd)
  4. Wow! How the heck did THAT happen? So the problem with the camera was a software issue? Hopefully they can provide some specific info that will help other forlorn Edge owners out for a helpful dealership.
  5. Welcome & congrats, fellow Marylander! I don't think you missed out by not having AWD, tho I got one because I wanted one enough From all reports, the FWD Edges do splendidly in all weather, assuming the wheels are properly dressed & enough common sense is applied! Plus you get to miss out on the remote possibility of having to have your PTU replaced or leaky seal fixed etc & no ugly driveshaft to (surface) rust. Now, the bonus is better mileage, AND if you wanted to put in a true dual exhaust, you have ample room! AEM filters or Green filters are also well liked, if you want an alternative to K&N. Pix please!!!
  6. Battery starts the car, then alternator takes over and charges battery while car runs (assuming enough rpms are reached to overcome auxiliary demand). That's my understanding for "normal" non-hybrid vehicles. You can get one of these to help you check voltages easily. Starter could very well have gone bad on you (clutch not engaging the flywheel), get it checked out. Another thing, you start the Edge in PARK mode? I hope you do not have a starting problem again, but if you do, try starting in NEUTRAL mode. I don't think the trans/safety switches are involved here, but could be.
  7. Probably need warmer weather/heat gun to make the plastic more pliable. I tried to do remove the fog lamp housing too, to update the lighting. Budged, but not enough, even with both hands and all kind of pry tools at the ready
  8. I was thinking #41 underhood (starter), or #27 pass compartment (ignition). What error are you getting from the CD player? When it does have a problem, it can cause a parasitic draw on the battery, not turning off completely even after turning the vehicle off. Can you provide a bit more detail as to what happens during the starting problem? Do you hear clicking/buzzing, or does the engine actually try to turn over normally (not a "wheezing"/slow type of cranking, but strong)? Have you checked the cables for tightness? I had a problem in the past like this when one of the terminals on the cabling was loose/faulty, and had to be replaced. Could be a faulty starter or ignition switch if everything else checks out.
  9. This is going to sound old, since it has been suggested many times recently, but check the battery. Is it original, relatively new, etc.? What is the voltage across the terminals. May simply need a new battery. Check all the fuses underhood as well. The layout of the fuses is in the owner's guide, available online at https://www.motorcraftservice.com
  10. A good mechanic is worth his weight in gold!
  11. Doesn't seem long enough to have affected the battery. But if your charger is 12V, wouldn't hurt to put it on for a while, make sure the battery is at full charge. Check the voltage across the terminals before and after with a multimeter (while the Edge is turned off). I assume the battery looks clean? No signs of corrosion/crusting?
  12. Hello, Wil! Glad to have another European Union Edge owner here Thank you for your love of American cars! 120K for a camaro or mustang? Serious OUCH! The 3.5L is a proven engine in the Ford lineup. The transmission does have its' quirks, as you have noted. How many K's do you have on the Edge now? If you want, you can try disconnecting the battery and having the Edge re-learn its' optimum parameters while in for service. That way, it will definitely be more customized to your style of driving. Though it sounds like it's pretty close already. Having the fluids drained & refilled (especially engine & transmission/PTU/RDU) is a very worthwhile service, as is having the battery checked (replaced if necessary). Good luck and please do let us know about your continuing experience. AND post some pix too, especially in outdoors settings Would love to get a tour of Netherlands through your eyes!
  13. Since the Edge has electric power steering, I'd check the battery first. Do you know the vehicle's production date, and whether it has been sitting on the dealer lot for some time? Try unhooking the battery for 30 minutes or more, and then reconnect, let the Edge re-learn. If the problem is gone after that, have the dealership replace under warranty. Of course, it COULD be the fluid level is low (always a possibility) or that the rack has a problem. Statistics are strongly against these possibilites, but yours could be the exception.
  14. Eight coats? Well worth it! Do you know if the glossifier will add any protection like we expect of Plastidip?
  15. Old thread, I know. But I found this info online: Seems to be a part number for this gasket, no idea on availability. http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/pubs/content/~WSAV/~MUS~LEN/92/501-08_s3p2541q0.PDF Hope it will help someone. 021A46 http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/PartDetail.aspx?n=ClRxA85wQi2V4GHUyyCJgQ%3d%3d&id=262914911&m=2&search=true&year=2007&make=Ford&model=Edge If correct, this would be around 5 dollars, compared to buying the entire spoiler, which can run more than 500!
  16. If you read this page http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Oils/Mobil_1_Extended_Performance_5W-20.aspx#, even tho Mobil says you can run their oil guaranteed for 15K miles, they recommend sticking with the mfr specified OC interval if your warranty is still in place. Legalese doubletalk. There are oil filters that go 15K miles also, per mfr claims. If you check oil level & quality frequently, you'd probably be OK. But if you are one to set & forget, I'd not recommend extended interval OCs.
  17. Great! Still wonder why a battery disconnect fixes the navigation.
  18. Time to replace the battery. Avg expected life these days is 3 years with the newer vehicles. Should not be the alternator, but will know better after battery change. Hopefully the remotes do not have to reprogrammed.
  19. Is your -1 within OEM specs? If not, I wonder if having a dealership reset the values in the ECU would do the trick also.
  20. Cold weather can dramatically decrease range. Angle of approach matters too, since the receiver is not positioned equidistant from every angle. Have you noticed any issues when closing the driver door? I was thinking of a possible door latch/switch problem. Of course, could always be a bad door lock actuator (have experienced that on older Fords).
  21. Did you check the transmission fluid color & level? Any leaks? To check the level, according to the manual, you have to warm up the trans fluid to it's operating temp by driving around for about 20 miles, parking it (engine still running), working through the gears (allow 30 seconds each gear), and checking the fluid level after putting back into Park. Not the easiest, I know, but doable. Did you speak with the service manager/dealership manager? If they are unresponsive, take it to another dealer, and/or contact Ford National Customer Service.
  22. Good that the dealer was willing to work with you, and hope the switcheroo is the solution.
