  1. The only problem with the 3.0TT when it came out was tuning for it. Only 1 or 2 tuners had "cracked the code" as of last year. Hopefully that crack continues to widen.
  2. Labor is closer to 4 hrs for TSS OSS. They are asking too much money. Many many non mechanics have done this job. You can do it too. Best to use Motorcraft parts of course. Buy online from Levittown Ford, or Rockauto, or Amazon. The biggest error has not been putting the vehicle in NEUTRAL before shutting off the engine and disconnecting the battery. Follow instructions closely. Take the time to complete a fluid exchange. 3x drain/fills after the work is buttoned up. Valvoline Maxlife ATF highly recommended.
  3. Files got lost when the forum software was updated. I have attached them here to this post. Turbine Shaft Speed (TSS) Sensor.pdf Output Shaft Speed (OSS) Sensor.pdf Solenoid Body Assembly.pdf
  4. pretty normal fan failure when it happens on these vehicles. replace the fan assembly, preferably with a Motorcraft unit for best results. a search will turn up many threads on this topic. though searching through Google may be more fruitful, lol.
  5. First: Livernois has always claimed access to the widest possible parameters when tuning due to a close relationship with Ford. IDK if that relationship still exists, but that was also given as a reason why they DID NOT use certain parameters that other tuners were adjusting. Not "safe" in their opinion. Second: Dyno tuning - as long as the owner is straight up with the tuner what mods are on the vehicle, it is the tuner's responsibility to make the decision whether a dyno tune is called for or not. And dyno tuning is no guarantee, having seen dyno tuned vehicles later blow up on the street or track. Third: No tuner is immune to having their customer's engine blow up on their watch, so that IS a risk you take. But it is nice to gain insight into your vehicle during the tuning process, IF you want that level of involvement. Some tuners accommodate you, some don't.
  6. some have had better luck by rebleeding the main system AFTER the ABS bleed, so there's that.
  7. humidity and cold temps too can play havoc with ecoboosts. but it is a tuning issue more than anything else. i would check the intercooler for crud buildup as that has potential to get sucked into the engine.
  8. There are going to be exceptions, hopefully this is an exception to the rule. But sometimes you pull at a thread, and start unraveling the mosaic. Time will tell.
  9. There are failsafe mechanisms, but in engine overheat situations only, where normal cooling procedures fail to reduce engine/coolant temps. Then you have alternate cylinder firing, with air being used to cool the cylinder not fired. Has been a Ford strategy for at least the last 14 years or so. Compressor shutdown may also happen during extended WOT runs.
  10. Have you tried recalibrating the HVAC module again? Are there any codes stored for the HVAC system? You will need a reader that can scan the MS-CAN bus. Could be a bad ground or a bad HVAC module. Or something else entirely. 2014 Edge DATC Blend Door Actuator Inoperative or Does Not Operate Correctly.pdf
  11. Only the 2012-2014 2.0L EB powertrain got the single fan system. 2015+ are twin fans on both the 2.0 and 2.7L EBs. No idea why the change.
  12. Edge/MKX built after 7/11/2011 had Motorcraft Orange as OEM, basically 2nd gen Dex-Cool. Same difference. EDIT: As Ron noted, YELLOW replaces ORANGE, for whatever reason It is already OEM on some of Ford's lineup.
  13. gen 2+, yes. prev gens, try your luck at the Ford dealer, talk to the trans tech direcly. OR go directly to a Lincoln dealer where they are much more likely to do it for prev gens. Standalone L dealer if you can find one, or a combo where you talk to a Linclon service advisor.
  14. Although things may have changed with Gen 2.5 / the 2019 MY, there are no clutches in the PTU. There ARE clutches in the RDU, but it is a sealed system, and separate from the gears, which is where we add RDU fluid. So, for all practical purposes, for 2007-2018, the PTU/RDU have no clutches to maintenance. 30K for the PTU, 60K for the RDU (or every other PTU fluid change) - assuming normal driving conditions, or let's say 2 yrs/4 yrs, assuming the average miles/year people drive nowadays. https://www.bts.gov/statistical-products/surveys/national-household-travel-survey-daily-travel-quick-facts
  15. There is a video (in Arabic) on YT showing you how to repair the fan motor. It's no different than commonplace motors, so as long as you are handy with tools, you likely can DIY. Rockauto.com has assemblies I believe without the module. You can swap the module from the old fans into the new assembly and it should work fine. These are 2007 MY fans, since I do not know your Edge's info. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ford,2007,edge,3.5l+v6,1434490,cooling+system,radiator+fan+assembly,2181 TYC is generally well received, if you can get them, you should be ok. Amazon sells them too.
  16. If not buying Motorcraft, keep the old OEM module. You can put it on the new assembly, instead of the one that came with it. Failure of the module is extremely rare, and if you look at how new ones are priced, you end up buying the whole assembly. LOL
  17. your mkx would have come with GOLD, not orange tho it may have an orangeish appearance as time passes. i hope they did not put the new YELLOW in there, as it is not Ford supported. if upgrading the coolant, it should be SPECIALTY GREEN, which is quite dark. if you actually had ORANGE, then yes, it could be flushed and YELLOW could be deployed instead. Just be aware that YELLOW has no use history to back its' reliability.

  19. Fuel Economy • Distance to Empty - Shows the approximate distance your vehicle can travel before running out of fuel. • Inst Fuel Economy - Shows a visual graph of your instantaneous fuel economy along with your Avg MPG since the function was last reset. • Long Term Fuel Economy - Shows your long term fuel economy. • Average MPG — Shows the average fuel economy for a given trip. • All Values — Shows all fuel economy values (DTE, Inst Fuel Econ, Avg Fuel). • Auto StartStop - Available Auto Start-Stop messaging will provide details about what is happening with your system. See Information Messages (page 112). Note: You can reset your average fuel economy by pressing and holding the OK button on the left hand steering wheel controls.
  20. are you looking at instantaneous mpg perhaps, or right after fillup? this is typically when you get into the 3x's with a 3.5. A 2.0 typically easily manages 3x mpgs on highway drives. plus is this an imperial measurement? have to do a conversion to get the EPA rated mpg.
  21. Add to that the variance in human perception systems, and you got a big mess, lol.
  22. Ford may allow mixing orange and yellow. Be a purist. If you are going to use yellow, flush out the orange first. Or switch to an aftermarket Orange, such as from Peak, Prestone, or Zerex.
  23. Hope you all stay safe & secure during/after Marco.
