  1. Quite understandable. Better things to spend time & money on! I hear the Escape is quite a good deal, AND now you will have 2 Fords with the Titanium pkg, right?
  2. Bad bearings, and no noise? Interesting ... Serious about the trade-in?
  3. Thanks for the update. Hope they can get the part to you sooner rather than later!
  4. I wonder how much use these fans see. We hardly ever saw fans go out on the Gen I-III SHOs, more likely corroded connectors or blown controllers with them after decades of use.
  5. Are you running the latest version of Adobe Reader? Usually it is a fonts issue or a software version issue causing problems.
  6. Probably used a GOOD sealant this time when remounting the tires. Any insight into what they did at the detail level?
  7. Danged electronics these days Keep us updated with this fix!
  8. Replacing the throttle body is an $1100 job? Are they using gold plated parts & tools?
  9. Good info! Glad you found a dealer that takes care of their customers. Stick with them if you can!
  10. Well done on the PD, definite enhancement to the looks of the Edge. Tempting us with that quick look at the lights, are you
  11. $788-$403 = $385 for the sensor replacement. So I'd say you got a good rate, April.
  12. Hope that's not black looking fluid? Did you smell it? Black would be more typical of the PTU overflowing its' vent. Otherwise, there is no overflow as such for the transmission fluid. It can leak at the trans-PTU seal though. I would suggest getting some engine degreaser and cleaning off that area to make sure you get a "clean" sample if it happens again. When was the last oil change? Sure hope it's not engine oil, WAY WAY too early.
  13. Checked the battery terminals for tightness/cleanliness? Depending on production date, may be time for a new battery.
  14. Sometimes I think dealers just don't realize how proactively owners are seeking answers online. I do wish the information that members find out at their own time & expense would be propagated through Ford & their dealerships to make successful servicing and customer satisfaction that much more of a common occurrence. I do realize that proper testing is hard to come by in the real world, but at least a list of probable alternative solutions could be approved for dealership use.
  15. Got a chance to work the new brakes in heavy stop&go traffic. Never gave me a reason to doubt they will be there as & when needed. The downside is now my older car's brakes seem to work much more slowly
  16. Welcome to the forum! Tell us more about your Edge and how you came about purchasing it And put up pics of your new pride & joy if you want
  17. Standard SP411 i think Motorcraft plugs. No need to get fancy. could upgrade to iridium plugs, that's about it, but no efficiency gains, just longevity supposedly. Aftermarket Intakes & Exhaust mods can help produce a bit more power, but Ford's OEM design is very very good. If you want to see a difference, you should add a tune to the intake/exhaust mods. Even if you don't change any parts, a tune would get you more power or more efficiency, depending on what you want. I would backburner all these mods until your mpg issue is figured out.
  18. From my personal experience, 1) change the spark plugs and 2) run a few bottles of Techron through the gas tank. A BG-type fuel/air system cleaning would be great, but Techron is pretty good as an OTC/self-help product. Also make sure your brakes are not dragging by checking left vs. right wheel temps (on the same axle) after a significant amount of driving. More involved work would be to 1) change out the transmission fluid, 2) change out the PTU fluid (probably thick and gunky by now), and 3) change out the RDU fluid. If you are a handy mechanic, you can do this yourself, but probably less of a headache having a trusted shop do it for you. Oh, reset the mpg display if you are still using what you got from the time you bought it. Hard to overcome 99K miles worth of mpg data so easily!
  19. Welcome, Marcus! Congrats on your Edge, glad it's been quite the stalwart.
  20. The closest I have heard of this is in this TSB 13-5-14 for the Taurus/MKS etc: WHEELS:CAP/COVER/HUB Date Reported MAY 13 2013 NHTSA Reference #10052787 TSB Reference #TSB-13-5-14 Description: FORD/LINCOLN: ON SOME VEHICLES, WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STOP OR SHIFTING BETWEEN DRIVE/REVERSE AND/OR REVERSE/DRIVE, A NOISE IS HEARD LIKE POP, TING, CLICK, COMING FROM FRONT WHEEL AREA. MODELS 2011-2013 TAURUS, EXPLORER, FLEX, MKS, MKT. Repair Information for NHTSA #10052787 The solution: Install one (1) thrust washer, metal surface first, over the halfshaft splines until the metal ring is flat against the wheel bearing mating surface. The nylon surface should face outward toward the hub/splines. (Figures 1 and 2) tsb 13-05-14 TING-POP-CLICK NOISE - FRONT HALFSHAFT.pdf
  21. Cool Any idea WHY this happened, though? And which specific hose this was?
