  1. Welcome to the forum! Could be the pads are a little loose and need to be re-seated. Sounds more like a valve that is not opening/closing properly, but not sure. OEM or aftermarket parts?
  2. Ugh! Better make sure they didn't overfill the engine oil!
  3. Great intro, and welcome (again) to the forum Hope you will log hundreds of thousands of troublefree miles on your Edge, all while enjoying it to the max!
  4. Did you find out what you needed about that setting?
  5. Is this true for all manner of transport, Waldo? For example, factory to dealer, dealer to dealer, etc.?
  6. hmm, need to get me some of these things. Thanks for the ideas, akirby!
  7. Hopefully all you need is a PCM update, I think under $200 at the dealership. Valve body modification will likely be significantly more. First thing to do tho is check for codes. If you do not have a reader, a local auto parts store like AutoZone or AdvanceAuto should be able to retrieve them for you.
  8. I know a couple of guys who do have such experience and contacts, including with TCE if so interested. Basically we'd have to have a certain number of people commit to a price, maybe put down a deposit as a confirmation of interest, then the group buy would be valid. Normally, there is only 1 tier of discounting, but depending on how many sign up, the discount could get deeper. I would really like to see this level of owner interest in the Edge/MKX platform. We really have so few choices in the aftermarket, considering how many Edges/MKXs have been sold over the years.
  9. Yes, the shipping blocks should be in the springs if still there. Could be transfer of pad material to the rotor if brakes left clamped for a long time between drives, or drives not long enough to get rust/foreign material off the rotor. If the caf didn't smell, then it's probably OK. Any debris visible through the windshield cowl?
  10. Correct, tire pressures should be as specified on the door label (around 35 I think). Air filters last a good 2 years in good environmental conditions. But if you get a lot of dust/pollen/pollution, the filter can choke in a year or less! A quick test for pleated paper filters is to hold them up to bright light/sunlight when new and see how much light comes thru. Compare that a year later and you will see how much the filtering capacity has diminished. The dirt is not always visible to the naked eye at a glance.
  11. Easy and cheap enough to be a worthwhile replacement, i think.
  12. Welcome to the forum, sorry to hear about your issues with the MKX! Rare indeed to hear of warped rotors so early in the life. Nor should you have to put up with the rear rotor vibration. Do you have a production date for your MKX? You can look it up here: Then click on the VEHICLE tab and enter the VIN number there. It could be a late 2012 calendar year build. Which also puts the battery in a nebulous situation, if it wasn't kept charged. The wind noise is definitely not normal. Maybe the weatherstrip needs to be lubed/rejuvenated to fix, or realigned just a little bit. Check the cabin filter. It shouldn't be dirty, but you never know, if it has been exposed to a lot of moisture ... Have the alignment checked. Also whether they took out the shipping blocks they put on to prevent bounce on the trailer. You can always call upon Ford Customer Service (here on this forum) to help out if the dealer experience continues to go awry. They can definitely get the dealer's attention.
  13. 18 gallons FWD/19 gallons AWD. Short trips that don't see mileage on a warmed up engine or what qualify as severe duty will def kill mpg's. 17.6 is not bad for AWD (17/23), below EPA rating for FWD (19/26). How are the tire pressures? Air filter?
  14. If we could ever get any type of group buy going, there might be hope for us getting high Q parts at a great price.
  15. If I run into a problem with the Edge, I start searching the 'net and broadening the search progressively as each level continues to provide unsatisfactory results. I am willing to cross models & even makes to find the answer. It CAN be time-consuming though (time I am sure the techs do not generally have), which is why having a helpful forum like this is such a valuable asset to the community. Learning & sharing is good for us all. But if the customer does their research and brings up possible solutions, that should be taken into consideration by the serviceperson as well. Collaboration.
  16. Maybe you can get the dealership to do the cleanout tool service on ALL the remaining doors just to make sure they don't act up
  17. Tirerack.com seems to think the 17" wheels will fit fine. Since there are really no brake hardware changes between trim levels, I'd agree A TPMS trainer would get rid of that annoying period of TPMS messages you get while road-training the vehicle. Really don't use the device any other time, but can get one off EBay. Or have your local tire shop do it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-OEM-Ford-TPMS-Sensor-Training-Tool-Tire-Pressure-Programming-Activation-/271293210456
  18. More items for your checklist: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/6962-rattle-vibration/ Reference for the wheel well clips being loose: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/4907-passanger-side-noise/
  19. Welcome to the community, BergerKing, awesome to have another OC Edge owner (nice backstory ) on here! Love that color, wish I could have found one locally when I was looking. Any mods/upgrades?
  20. Sorry to hear about your bad experience with Power Stop, jwallace. I am medium to hard on my brakes as well, not because I have to be, but because I like their feel & have confidence in their ability. Haven't needed "warming up" time yet, but we will see with winter approaching. BUT I agree with you, can't argue with quality like EBC or Brembo in the long run. Ceramics are pretty hard on rotors, and the Z16 pads are ceramic. If you are OK with dusty, and want to save your rotors, go with non-ceramic (my preferred). EBC rotors with the Yellowstuff pads will probably work very well. Not sure how long the Redstuff will last. Generally speaking, caliper slide pins should be serviced whenever brakes are replaced to keep braking even and strong. Along with a brake system flush every 30,000 miles or so.
  21. Welcome to the forum, shacho, and congrats on your acquisition! The chrome grille can kinda stick out like a sore thumb on an otherwise good-looking vehicle. Pics?
  22. Unintended pun? Ford deserves all the blame, dontcha know
  23. Sorry to hear about your experience. Did you have the issue put down in writing at time of sale? Same service manager? The seat issue may be on Ford, but the service issue is entirely on that dealer, IMHO. You could talk to Ford Customer Service (they are on this forum), not sure how they could help if you don't have a written backup though.
  24. Ok, if you can find out, that would be great And good luck on your upcoming trip, hope the HM oil works out.
