Doing ATF Drain/Fill what ATF fluid to use?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to flymore's topic in 2017-2018 Edge & MKX
best not to mix for the long term. mixing should be reserved for "top up" type work. No harm in sticking with Motorcraft LV fluid as long as you strictly observe the 5/60 rule of fluid exchange. If you are OCD, 2.5/30 is even better -
SSM 46412 - PTU Idler Gear
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
may have been referring to the 2015+ units? They come with drain plugs and all the other updates u describe. As to whether the kit is an improvement or simply a replacement part, it is hard to say, but one would hope that the PTU installed in your MKX, if of recent 2019 vintage, would have the "best and brightest" installed. Would help Ford justify the cost of the kit too. -
2016 Edge Sport - My Build

The Euro light looks quite good. Is this LED or halogen? They have adaptive LED headlamps available across the pond. Are you still using the U.S. lighting module? -
Howdy y’all!! 2013 SEL. Bought new, but new to the forum.

Welcome! Post pics of your ride Must have accumulated many tales by now as well! -
There is another reason why you may not have a working starter. If the PATS light is flashing rapidly/i.e. the keyfob is dead, then the starting system will be disabled.
-
Or you could simply replace the TSS OSS sensors and transmission fluid. What you are doing will force the transmission into actual failure, rather than just the controls. What happens if you drive with O/D off? Does the shuddering stop or reduce substantially? Add a tube of Lubegard Shudder Fixx to see if that makes a difference.

good point! one of the reasons Livernois created a direct injection intake for the 3.5. others did as well, but Livernois is best known . https://www.livernoismotorsports.com/product/LPP0114764

if you think it is a misfire, you should read mode 6 data in obd software like Forscan Lite. that will show you misfire counts. i hope it is not a coolant leak!
-
yes. there are bolts that hold the valve body to the transmission case, and there are bolts that hold the valve body itself together. the valve body is a multi-piece affair.

oh yeah, no doubt

generation 1.5 of the edge - 2011 to 2014 model years
-
@2FAST4U maybe Ford had already decided only the 2011 MY for Gen 1.5 would get the KB, but production was cut short due to the Fukushima disaster in Japan, where Ford sourced the KB elements from.

There is no recommendation in North America for RDU fluid change except if there is water intrusion/extended severe service. There are intervals for PTU fluid in hot climates such as South America and the Middle East tho. But yeah, use the fill plug for both drain and fill, just like the PTU in earlier gen MYs.

Did not know that. Nice snag.

2008 Ford Edge No Cold Air

Do you have a sniffer like this one to check for refrigerant leaks? https://smile.amazon.com/Elitech-CLD-100-Refrigerant-Halogen-Detector/dp/B01H34U9N8/ You of course have to observe test conditions very closely, but if there is no dye visible (with a black light), then sniffing it out is your best bet. It can leak right out the Schrader valves on the ports or the evaporator and you'd never know.- 4 replies

2008 Ford Edge No Cold Air
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Mechanic69's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
The air conditioning (A/C) is always on — A/C compressor does not cycle Circuitry shorted PCM A/C compressor A/C control relay A/C evaporator temperature sensor A/C pressure transducer GO to Pinpoint Test M . The air conditioning (A/C) is always on — A/C mode always commanded ON Circuitry shorted PCM HVAC module — EMTC or HVAC module — DATC GO to Pinpoint Test N . If the compressor is running quietly and there are no leaks, then you have to look to the controls of the system. The transducer is rarely involved in A/C problems, but a case or 2 has been noted on this forum. The evap temp sensor is part of the evaporator/heater core assembly sold by Ford, afaik, it is not available separately. Also a part I have never seen fail directly except maybe in hot climates such as the Middle East. The manual control module is also ultra reliable, though we see now and then a failure. You have already replaced this IIRC? You already have OBD hardware/software capable of reading both HSCAN and MSCAN buses? 2007-2010 Edge MKX AC is always on Pinpoint Tests M & N.pdf- 4 replies

@lildisco congrats on the new ride, it is awesomeness! @2FAST4U always loved the kona blue and the exclusiveness (though tragically) to the 2011 year for the Edge/MKX lineup.

Are you using a high E tune or sticking with an E0/E10 tune? With high E you get both cooling and octane. You can still add mild methanol injection to clean the intake valves and if you so choose, the turbos. Adding a catch can generally alleviates the need for spraying the turbos tho.

Suspension modifications on gen 2
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Gmandude's topic in 2015+ Edge & MKX Generation II
at a minimum, i would add the rear sway bar first, then the strut tower brace (an h brace underneath if desired), and then the springs. totally my preference i bought our Edge because I did wanted a bit of space to get underneath for oil and trans fluid changes without needing jacks or ramps. ulterior motive, lol. -
Suspension modifications on gen 2
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Gmandude's topic in 2015+ Edge & MKX Generation II
Nice. Bodes well for most other owners as well, what with the deteriorating infrastructure so common in the States today. -
You can call Ford corporate directly to confirm, but I hope fellow owners who have had the booster updated will respond with pics as well.
-
could be bad tires, could be the subframe (front or rear) was knocked about, or the control arms are shot. I would also check to see if the inner tie rods are binding.

Manual climate control or dual/automatic? Does the heat work fine? What are the hi and low side readings? There is a narrow acceptable range.- 4 replies
