  1. NICE! Bonsai trees? Gonna grab a pic of the Admiral's statue while in Busan?
  2. Ok, so I asked a friend who works for Ford, the info isn't available easily inside either! But he pointed me to this site: http://www.ford-taurus.org/taurusinfo/Engine/ From the pic & specs, it looks like it IS an interference engine. Sorry for any confusion in the earlier post.
  3. I see tire service centers pushing the Schrader brand all the time, my preference is to stick with OEM especially in semi-permanent locations. Can't honestly speak for level of risk by personal experience, but it certainly seems riskier with band-style sensors than stem-style.
  4. If you are keeping the stock wheels, good idea to buy a new set of sensors (esp since sensors have batteries that wear out after 5-7 years). You will need stem type sensors that operate at 315 MHz per http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/PartDetail.aspx?n=dMAS1cRivT6ZQTjtazydRA%3d%3d&id=300034989&m=2&search=true&year=2012&make=Ford&model=Edge Part Number: 1A189(TPMS-12) (9L3Z1A189A I believe) Sample NonFord mfr listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/4X-Tire-Pressure-Monitoring-Sensor-TPMS-for-Ford-9L3T1A180BB-DE8T1A150AA-TPMS12-/171420002709 Sample OEM Ford listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ONE-1-GENUINE-FORD-MOTORCRAFT-TIRE-PRESSURE-SENSOR-TPMS12-DE8T-1A180-AA-/331222293078 http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-NEW-OEM-FORD-F150-F-150-TIRE-PRESSURE-SENSORS-TPMS-DE8T-1A180-AA-/311190097016 Training tool (if DIY'ing): http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-OEM-Ford-TPMS-Sensor-Training-Tool-Tire-Pressure-Programming-Activation-/271293210456 Nice reading from Motorcraft on how to mount/dismount tires from wheels with stem style TPMS: http://www.motorcraftservice.com/vdirs/retail/search/pdf/valvestemtpms.pdf
  5. Definitely not clearly stated, though likely to be non-interference stock. Some info on the 3.5L Duratec engine: http://wardsauto.com/news-amp-analysis/ford-motor-co-duratec-35-35l-dohc-v-6 http://www.supersixmotorsports.com/_pdf/cyclone-tech-v2.pdf Had a topic on this forum, but no clarity there either: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/9007-interference-or-non-interference-engine/ EDIT: Updated below.
  6. I believe only a Ford scanner would, i.e., a visit to the dealer would be required. Whether a tire/brake shop can do that, not sure.
  7. Probably a bad wheel speed sensor or rust on the sensor or faulty wiring to/from the sensor. Will have to check each of the sensors to determine which one is at fault.
  8. Should never have had to come to this, but glad you found an answer. What did you end up going with?
  9. The gas stations you use should have high turnover (name brand or no name brand). Prevents ethanol from separating in their tanks, absorbing water, and corrupting your vehicle's fuel system.
  10. A. That's assuming perfect circumstances, which are becoming rarer every day. God forbid the weather be too sunny, rainy, windy, snowy ... B. There are two partners in a collision. Will the other person be observant and brake in time to help minimize the effect of an impending collision? Will the other vehicle have sufficient braking power and road grip to effect the driver's intentions? C. Maybe the only time the vehicle stalls will be the time the driver is killed. Try reversing that situation. Mechanical problems often give you time to correct, as they show symptoms over time. Fly-by-wire systems, not so much. Time to make it mandatory for Edge drivers to have a competent lawyer on retainer, update your last will & testament, and name your life insurance beneficiaries?
  11. Accident/Maintenance history? Carfax/Autocheck & OASIS report (Ford) are a must IMHO. Mostly highway driven, mixed, or city mostly? Do you have any warranty coming with it? There are a bunch of services due at the 150K mark, so unless EVERYTHING I mentioned checks out superclean, and unless you leave room in the annual budget for repairs (due to it being an older vehicle) I'd not buy the Edge at this time.
  12. Congrats on the new Edge! Post up some pics I was quoted $8,000+ by the guys who turbo'd it for SEMA, hopefully you can get it done for less.
  13. Glad to see you reunited with your beautiful Edge, and at the shipping company for their thievery! Now you get to include the Edge in your video channel productions
  14. I am sure a vehicle customizer could do it for you. Probably run a few hundred bucks tho.
  15. I use the recirc mode primarily in areas of emissions-heavy traffic or when initially warming up the car on a cold day (cooling on hot day).
  16. Usually, fuel injector cleaning service is around $130 if you want to get it done. What did they quote you & what do they do exactly (link?)? If you are not experiencing any driveability problems otherwise, I'd try running a fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank first. The next time you fill up, pour in the cleaner first, then put in the gas. Observe if there is any difference in gas mileage/throttle response after you use up that tank of gas. You'd be surprised how much this simple process helps. Troubleshoot & Clean Dirty Fuel Injectors A flush force-cleans the transmission system, and as a result any/all accumulated debris/metal shavings are forced loose and circulate out of the system. That's the theory anyway. Why take the chance something gets stuck somewhere & leads to major problems? Instead, do the worry free drain & fill method regularly. Any competent shop can do it, don't have to have the dealer do it. You can do it yourself if you are comfortable putting the front end up on jacks/ramps. How a Flush Works & Why It is Done It's your call when you want to do the d&f, but it wouldn't hurt, certainly, to do it now since you are past the 3 year mark.
  17. Is the battery original to the car? Consider having it replaced. 2-3 years is max useful life OEM. The no-start issue may return without it. Good thing the warranty still applies Having fuel injectors cleaned as in a BG cleaning service is a good idea every couple of years. But if you run Fuel Injector cleaner (such as Techron or BG etc.) in the gas tank yearly (not too late now), you can avoid the cleaning service for a loooong time. Advise doing so within 500 miles or so of the next oil/filter change. No transmission flush is needed IF you drain & fill the trans 3 times (5 qts each time, so basically complete replacement) more frequently. So around 50,000 miles or 3 years, do the drain & fill. This will greatly extend the useful life of the transmission. Have the cooling system & brake system flushed tho at same interval at minimum.
  18. Agreed. I don't know if there is a huge base of tuned Edge/MKXs or not, very rare to hear anything about these particular vehicles/transmissions. Do Fusions have the 6F50 on any trim level? However, there is a fairly substantial base of tuned SHOs running 400 AWHP (290 or so AWHP is stock) or more with no changes to the transmission (6F55). This is with a tuner with very close ties to Ford. Hence my comment about headroom differences.
