  1. Thanks for taking the time, Joe Looks like the PTU completely failed due to lack of adequate lubricant, hence the metal shavings & need for replacement. The PTU is an oft-neglected maintenance item, despite what Ford would have you believe about "forever & ever". It has its' own lubricant, and it is questionable whether the fill is correct from the factory, so the installing dealership/repair shop needs to check before releasing back to the customer. Since the spec for the amount of PTU lubricant required is already so low, a lower level of lubricant than spec'd would lead to an unnecessarily early death for the PTU.
  2. Found this info about the TSB above: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3364343 TSB 14-0209 SHIFT TO PARK MESSAGE - WHILE IN PARK / UNABLE TO REMOVE IKT / SHIFTER STUCK IN PARK / DISCHARGED BATTERY DUE TO SHIFT TO PARK LIGHT ON FORD: 2011-2014 Edge 2013-2014 Flex 2011-2015 Explorer 2013-2015 Taurus LINCOLN: 2013-2014 MKS, MKT 2011-2015 MKX ISSUE Some 2011-2014 Edge, 2011-2015 MKX, Explorer, 2013-2014 Flex, MKT, MKS and 2013-2015 Taurus vehicles equipped with a floor shift selector lever may exhibit a Shift To Park message displayed while in park, unable to remove integrated keyhead transmitter (IKT), shifter stuck in park and/or discharged battery due to Shift to Park light remaining illuminated. The park detect switch cannot detect the shifter is in park. SERVICE PROCEDURE 1. Replace the selector lever assembly. And since it is a TSB it only falls under Factory Warranty Guidelines. IE 3/36 and any purchased extended warranty. If you are outside of this you pay.
  3. Hard to say what the cause might be, but I'd check the brakes (calipers, rotors, pads) first. The calipers on the rear are known to seize, and that would cause the pad to grind against the rotor continuously. Also check for any brake fluid at the lines going into the caliper. Does the fluid in the master cylinder reservoir look clean/full? Other possibilities relating to brakes are wheel speed sensors and ABS components.
  4. Happy New Year, Joe, and good luck w the new PTU!
  5. Thank you, and wish you all a happy & prosperous New Year as well
  6. Dust storms? Drive with windows down often? Leaks at weatherstripping? Try changing filter more often? Do you have the screen or actual filter OEM?
  7. The AC isn't on Recirculate is it? Bringing in outside air should eliminate/minimize the problem.
  8. What product did you use, and how hard was it to install?
  9. Hope they made sure the new PTU is filled correctly. Has been an issue with other Ford models so far, overwhelming the lubricant and causing PTU to overheat. What warranty did they give you (2 years?)?
  10. That whole shipping thing is just plumb crazy!!! Lengthwise the 42mms should fit, not sure about the width, will have to check on that.
  11. Steps 1-3 in my previous post. You may have done this already, but try it anyway.
  12. Welcome to Blue Oval country, and congrats on your '14 SEL! EB or V6? Pix please Do you have the window sticker handy? If not, you can check what equipment rolled out of the factory here: http://www.etis.ford.com seems like there are 3 package levels: 200A, 204A, and 205A. If you have the 204/205, you have the rear view camera builtin. 2014 Ford Edge packages.PDF
  13. With any luck, it should only need the initialization sequence as below. Power Liftgate Initialization NOTE: If the power liftgate system is turned OFF in the message center, the system cannot be activated with any switches or with the liftgate handle. The system will need to be turned ON for any power operation to occur. NOTE: The power liftgate may not operate under the following conditions: A low voltage or dead battery A disconnected battery If any of these conditions has occurred, the power liftgate must be reset. Manually close and fully latch the power liftgate. NOTE: If the power liftgate does not open during this step, refer to the symptom chart to diagnose the power liftgate for no operation. Power open the power liftgate by using the key fob or control switch.Once the power liftgate is fully open, close the power liftgate by using the key fob or control switch.
  14. Lucky for you, Dan has HID kits for the Edge now Two choices for color, 5K & 6K, not sure tho which one would match better.
  15. Welcome, and congrats on the '14 Sport! The Edge handles pretty well even as a FWD, so should be fine in FL. I had considered the Vue also, being a Saturn fanboy from day 1 But GM's spotty service/parts support killed that idea. Enjoy the ride, be sure to post pix!
  16. Aiming for bigger game now, Cellbine? Let's see the trophies! Where did you get the LEDs from? EBay? Is transit time from China (if that is the origin) any better now that you are in Korea? Looking forward to your LED adventures
  17. Well, don't forget to post the pics of the mods to the Impala here as well
  18. Must be the tight tolerances, hope the new shaft will fix! Does the seal's mating surface have any give, or is it very firm?
  19. Tried to get a vehicle under the "Date Night" promotion, told they were out. This was back in ... early November, I think.
  20. Do you perchance have the EBay link to the image/listing? The closest thing I have is this: http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/ODI2WDU3NQ==/z/DnMAAOSwxH1ULKcO/$_57.JPG and this: http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/ODI2WDU3NQ==/z/SP4AAOSw6EhUNAnt/$_57.JPG
  21. Welcome to the community, pjazzz, and congrats on your '13 Sport! Got pics? Happy Holidays to you as well
  22. Welcome, Feedguy, and GL with your newfound Edge! Do put up an intro thread for yourself, would love to see pix too!
  23. If you get someone knowledgeable at a dealership, you could have the newer hardware installed and have Sync3 available, so the rumors say. http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=128950
