  1. Sounds like the PTU was already on the way out when the first incident happened, probably due to overheating due to low fluid level. No resort that I know of ... so far ... but to fix at your own expense. Could be a coincidence that it happened with the spare tire (meant for limited range driving, but sounds like you were WELL under), maybe not. Try calling Ford National Customer Service, or if that doesn't work out, Lincoln Customer Service. I hope our Ford rep on here (Tricia) will see your post soon and step in with advice. BTW, the difference is about 3" in height, I believe between the stock wheel and the spare: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tirecalc.php?tires=245-50r20-165-80r17 which is still way above the difference the AWD can compensate for. Interesting tidbit I was unaware of (OM): "You should replace your spare tire when you replace the road tires or after six years due to aging even if it has not been used." "If your vehicle is equipped with AWD, a spare tire of a different size other than the tire provided should never be used. A dissimilar spare tire size (other than the spare tire provided) or major dissimilar tire sizes between the front and rear axles could cause the AWD system to stop functioning and default to front wheel drive and could damage the system." "Each tire, including the spare (if provided), should be checked monthly when cold and inflated to the inflation pressure recommended by the vehicle manufacturer on the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label. (If your vehicle has tires of a different size than the size indicated on the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label, you should determine the proper tire inflation pressure for those tires.)"
  2. What year Edge? For a 2007: If flushing of the A/C system has not been carried out, recover the refrigerant. For additional information, refer to Section 412-00 .With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Section 100-02 .Remove the drive belt from the A/C compressor pulley.Remove the RH fender splash shield. Discard the O-ring seal. Remove the A/C compressor discharge fitting bolt and disconnect the fitting. Discard the O-ring seal. Remove the A/C compressor.
  3. This thread says the 500s should fit if build date is after Jan 16. 2009: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/438-oil-filter/ Yours is not, so I would stick with the 400s filter. Not sure what the practical differences would be between the 400 & 500 filters. Could be drainback valve pressure, burst pressure, capacity, etc. FL400s: 2.98 inches in diameter, 4.72 inches in height. Dry weight: 0.8 pounds. Thread size: 3/4-inch. Relief valve pressure: 14 psi http://www.ehow.com/list_7846289_specifications-motorcraft-fl400s-filter.html
  4. I too would suspect the wheel bearing if the tires look OK. Does the noise change in sound when you turn the wheel in either direction? That would strengthen the case for WB.
  5. Maybe you can use the current LED map lights for home security lol ...
  6. Wow, that works great. It is kinda critical too, since that is the only light in the rear that is on all the time (other 2 are manual control). Hmmm ...
  7. I would try wiggling the key in the ignition switch next time this happens. Also check related fuses (starter/ignition), and resistance in battery/starter cabling. This thread makes for interesting reading, even tho not directly related to the Ford Edge: http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/f24/cold-weather-no-crank-272654-print/
  8. It could be a dirty/rusted ABS sensor/wheel speed sensor causing the shudder, fairly easy to clean. I think brake cleaner would do it.
  9. Argh! Hopefully just worn pads/rotors, but could be improperly torqued lugnuts too. Something simple, please! http://autos.com/car-maintenance/common-brake-noises-and-what-they-mean
  10. Glad yer ok, Salta! So sorry to see the state of your Edge Keep us apprised of how this case goes for you.
  11. Could be the ignition switch is bad. Does sound electrical in nature though, since the problem is worse in colder weather. Have you had any misfire/stumbling/hesitation problems before this issue started? That could involve the PCM & ignition coils. Starter solenoid fix: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/5258-08-edge-wont-start/
  12. They sure do issue the DLs early in S Korea You could always tint your lights! Probably the first time anyone tinted interior lights

  14. What year Edge? I think 2007-12 Edge was Mercon V and 2013+ is Mercon LV, so check owner's manual to be sure. But any brand PS fluid certified for the right Mercon spec should be fine, don't need to have Motorcraft. If the PS is low and you have a lot of miles on your Edge, be sure to check the system for leaks and the fluid for contamination first. EDITED to update chrono info.
  15. True, BUT the good thing is, if you are game to service it yourself, or have a trusted mechanic service it, the problem is likely to be nullified!
  16. I think they put a coating on the CCs that takes time to burn off. Maybe less time in warmer climates?
  17. Not sure how tohelp here, near I can figure is you need to get the brake caliper support plate off the assembly? Hub & bearing are integral, replaced as one unit.
