Actually got the Edge through a working carwash today! Yay! Only to drive it through a dusty/muddy construction area a mile down the road. Boo! Still, glad to have the salt off, for a little bit -
Quite the shortage! BUT at least the customer is taken care of

Congrats, great-looking ride! Best of luck, and enjoy!

2008 Ford Edge SE, Error Code P0171, P0201, P0301
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Michael Walsh's topic in 3.5L
Good luck! Hopefully there is no crapola built up in the gas tank/fuel lines, and the system stays trouble-free. I find that even with using Tier 1 gasoline, adding a FI cleaner like Techron once a year pays dividends. -

2007 Ford Edge PTU failure and replacement - long
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Sean Greene's topic in All Wheel Drive (AWD)
Try another Ford dealer or Lincoln dealer. Also advisable to escalate matters via FordService (Tricia) on this site. The PTU problem/solution is well known, and I am sure there is a nearby competent dealer who can end this vicious cycle for you. -

New (to me) 2013 Edge Limited minor issues/quirks
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to straycat76's topic in 2013 Edge & MKX
Welcome, Matt, and sorry to hear you are already having issues with the Edge. Do you have warranty coverage? Sounds like a bad climate control module for #1 & 2. For #3, replacing the ignition switch might do the trick, or it might be a wiring connection in the steering column. -
Any effect on your climate control, marinevet22? Could be a blend door actuator or lever if so. Cold weather will bring out all kinds of rattles & noises. And BTW, welcome to the forum

2012-13 edge sport awd vs 2011-13touareg awd
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to cams-76's topic in Competing Crossovers & Vehicles
With German vehicles, getting a warranty that suits your length of ownership is key, next to having a good servicing dealership. After the warranty, probably best to trade it in, unless you are a] in love with it or b] have the personal funds for its' upkeep or c] both. http://www.truedelta.com/Volkswagen-Touareg/problems-284 http://www.truedelta.com/Volkswagen-Touareg/reliability-284/vs-Edge-728 If you are hands-on, you can take off the body panels and add DynaMat or some such sounddeadening material. Also, from what I hear, adding the material to the cargo cover area is also very effective. And finally filling in the "blank" spaces under the hood mat (if any) yields substantial results. Not very much cost for the results obtained. When the tires wear out, change to quieter tires if you like. -
I'm sure the 2.7EB is a fine engine But it would be nice to see something better than a "practical" Lincoln, if Lincoln is still considered a "luxury" brand. Why be coy?
-
Should have gone with the 3.5TT in the MKX. Give it a powerplant worthy of the Lincoln brand.

Lucky you! (that you have a porch, not that your Edge was pretending to be Hercules)

Any leaks into the engine bay or passenger compartment? Could be a compromised ground or two. Do you have a security system on the Edge?- 5 replies

Ask A Professional Detailer?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to CanuckG35's topic in Appearance - Detailing, Wash & Wax
Don't rely on a mfr to sell you well prepped vehicles. You want nice, you gotta take care of it yourself. Since the Edge is new, this is the perfect time to have the paint decontaminated (rail dust, road dust, brake dust, etc), and then sealed with a hybrid wax or sealant that will last through the winter muck. Products such as Collinite 845 are very popular due to low cost and high effectiveness, but the longest lasting are usually sealants/coatings such as OptiCoat or CQuartz Finest, which last between 1-2 years and give you a maddeningly good shine. Same products also keep your wheels looking good for a long time. So if you use anyone, find out how familiar they are with one of these products, then get it done. You will probably need a one-pass polishing at most, so that should help keep cost down as well. -
I guess the intake is making your Edge put out 600 hp/750 lbft torque, per dealership! Yeah, somehow I don't think that is the case. Sure you've got everything plugged in nice & tight? No pinched wiring? Could always put the intake back to stock to be sure

2007 Ford Edge PTU failure and replacement - long
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Sean Greene's topic in All Wheel Drive (AWD)
Sad to hear the issues continue. Until recently, it was thought the 2011+ models were free of this issue, but seems like it continues to plague the Edge. Not sure about the MKX, but the userbase is smaller. Everyone should have their PTU fluid levels checked ASAP. If it's low but good, top it off. If it's gunky at all, replace it. There are BG services for it (some dealers might even offer it) if you want to go the extra mile.
