Welcome to the community, glad to see ya around here! Congrats on the '08 SE, hope it treats you right. First Ford, I take it? Got pics?

Dead battery - did this lead to a stereo/CD problem?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Maxthedog1's topic in Welcome Forum!
Probably a faulty power supply on the CD changer. Probably best to get a high quality aftermarket unit unless you are tied in to Ford services. -

Check battery voltages with engine off, and then with engine running. If battery is 12.6-12.8V when engine off/no key in ignition/no accessories on, and 13.8-14.4V when engine running, it is fine. If OEM, the battery IS old enough to have issues, regardless of how much use it has seen. -
I'm sure you'll be good to go for the next 50,000 miles

For 2010 & older Edge, I think, you might be able to enter the Engineering Menu in the IPC this way: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/7844-engineering-mode-gauges/?do=findComment&comment=62222 -
Carmax seems to be the place to go for trade-in as long as the vehicle is stock. Hopefully Sync 3 will begin a new & better chapter in Edge history! I wouldn't say my dealership is the best, but they do keep their customer (& shop AFAIK) areas clean. So, how did you feel about the Edge apart from the electronics? Any replacement yet?

Hope you and the Sport parted on good terms, and GLWS!

Hopefully it just requires a new battery/ PCM reset to fix all these issues. I WILL note that the speed displayed on my Edge's analog gauge and the Toque Pro app are often up to 2 mph apart! -
Welcome to the community, Manco, and congrats on your '12 SE! FWD or AWD? Be sure to get the Edge properly washed and waxed before taking it home to MI, if you intend on winter driving it there, keep the finish *pretty* What are your previous/other current ride(s)? Pretty happy with my Weathertech cargo mat, I believe some folks have the Husky liner as well. I see catback systems for the 2.0L and 3.7L currently available from Magnaflow & Gibson. H&Rs are still available.

This might give you an idea what you are in for: http://www.justanswer.com/ford/204st-p0012-code-ford-15o-5-4-v8-camshaft-sensor.html If it IS the solenoid and not the phaser, you will need to remove the valve cover, then R&R the solenoid.

Oh no not Transmission issues again!
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Carmen Connelly's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
Suspect everything, discount nothing. The difficult part is prioritizing the possibilities I have heard the pcv valve can be replaced without taking the manifold off. Since you likely have the non-heated valve, shouldn't cost more than $50 for replacement. I would press for free/discounted labor to do so if the bill estimate is higher. macbwt just put up a how to video, and am a sure he can answer questions related to this.- 9 replies

Got covered shelter for the Edge? -
it does kinda look like the Loch Ness monster, doesn't it, with the manifold end of the elbow off & free Consider that off your bucket list. On to Sasquatch!

The Edge started out with electrically heated PCV valves, but switched over later in 2007 (I believe) to non-heated. Would have been much easier if you hadn't been trying to get us the inside scoop

Awesome, congrats!

WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Carmen Connelly's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
Welcome, Carmen, sorry to hear about the problems with the Edge! Does sound like the right services have been done for the issues experienced. Dealer was way out of line, though, to suggest transmission replacement that early, considering the first fluid change is supposed to be at 150,000 miles for normal duty driving! Was a drain & fill performed, or was a flush performed on the trans? A flush is not recommended unless you do it at regular intervals (like the old 30K/3yr or even 50K). Too much history built up in the transmission. A 3-time drain and fill is much better & safer. When you had the plugs changed, did you have the PCV valve done also, as it is right there? What fuel are you running? If 87, try running a brand name Fuel Injection cleaner through the system, preferred being a BG product or Techron. If you see results, repeat a couple of times at the recommended intervals. If not using Top Tier gasoline, switch to this for a while, preferably from a high-volume station. You can also try running premium fuel and see if the throttle response is better. I had to search hi & low for a gas station whose fuel worked for my Edge, even though I am paying a premium to do so. No Shell worked for me, none but 1 Exxon worked either! I don't want to recommend this for regular use, but you can try adding 104+ Octane Booster to an empty gas tank prior to refueling. May not be the greatest for emissions, but for me, it + the Shell fuel substantially restored performance. Seeing now if the gains hold. As far as the low speed clunk, here is a TSB or two that might be relevant (PCM reprogram, orifice cup, or valve body fixes) TSB 10-21-02 SLIP_NEUTRAL OUT, 5TH GEAR START FROM STOP, ELECTRONIC PRNDL ERROR.pdf tsb10-09-09_6F50-6F55 TRANSMISSION - DTC P0751 - HARSH OR NO FORWARD ENGAGEMENTS - PERCEIVED SLIP ON ACCELERATION - SLIP-DELAYED AND-OR HARSH DOWNSHIFTS.pdf tsb11-05-06 Sluggish acceleration from stop or low speed followed by bump.pdf- 9 replies

On the backside of the engine, right next to the firewall and under the plastic cowl. I guess you could say in line with the #2 sparkplug (middle firewall side of engine). Not easy to spot at all.

As Omar said, all but the Ecoboost 2.0L Edge use the 6F50 transmission. The EB uses the 6F35. So if you have the EB, look for parts related to the 6F transmission.

Could be a bushing? Check the fluid level to make sure it's not low.

Tasca is selling the PTU online (part # AT4Z-7251-D), but any dealer with a good rating selling online (looks like $670 or so) should be fine. I would not try to put in a used or junkyard PTU. Just be sure that the PTU fluid is at the proper level before/after installation. EDIT: Just checked our site sponsor, LevittownFordSuperCenter, and looks like they still have free UPS ground shipping. So you can score one for slightly lower price - $618 shipped! http://www.levittownfordsupercenter.com/oemparts.php?partstr=123/AT4Z7251D.html
