AFE Dry air filter for a little more performance on my 3.5
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to carguy75's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
A cooler, denser charge of air resulting from a freer flowing filter would result in the engine having to do less work to pull the same load. More power at the same rpm (or same power at lower rpm) means more efficient engine. More efficient engine means more mpg. Would you drive around with the top of the airbox off and let the intake air heatsoak? Of course not. http://www.bankspower.com/techarticles/show/22-Cool-Air-Equals-Power Combining the intake with a proper exhaust will maximize this effect. I still think a proper tune will net you even better results. -
Most likely, any problems with the PTU will show up within the powertrain warranty period. Having an extended warranty is just like insurance, you have to decide if it is right for you. The PremiumCare level of Ford ESP comes close to the B2B warranty you have now with the new Edge. How long you tend to keep vehicles and how much mileage you put on them plays into it too.

Let us know how the Monroes work out. I have the Strongarms, and they really don't like cold weather at all. Maybe they need pipe insulation on them ... -

As listed above, updating the Climate Control Module programming (at the dealer) seems to work. Would have Dealer contact Ford directly if stumped. -
Keep 'em coming! Did you go with Autoshade/Weathertech/??? for the rain guards?

Does sound like it needs to be updated. Interested in what you find out. -
Welcome to the forum, John, and congrats on the new2you '08 Limited I had looked at Freestyle's/Taurus X's also prior to the Edge, just liked the overall "architecture". Do post a few pics of the Edge (and prev ride(s))! How many miles do you have on the Edge? Unless you know the history intimately, I would seriously advise you at least check the condition of: 1) The PTU fluid, and 2) The Battery, aside from the specified maintenance in the owner's manual, found online here: http://owner.ford.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Owner/Page/OwnerGuidePage&year=2008&make=Ford&model=Edge PDF: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/catalog/owner_guides/08edgog1e.pdf

No harm done in talking with the dealer, and with Ford Customer Service (FordService/Tricia on here). But if it comes down to it, not cheap, but here's the locking cap for the 2013 Edge (3.5L engine) 8U5Z-9C268-B: http://www.levittownfordsupercenter.com/ford-locking-fuel-plug-p-393.html http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Ford-8U5Z-9C268-B-Fuel-Filler/dp/B001H1O688 http://www.fordpartsgiant.com/parts/ford-plug-filler_8u5z-9c268-b.html

EDGE STALLING // Throttle body thread
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Cman's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
Whoa, that's no good! Good luck, hope it's just the throttle body; could be a bad BCM or ignition switch also. They will need to run codes at the very least to see if the PCM has left any clues. -
Congrats, and enjoy!

One of the best ways to check: http://www.sylvania.com/en-us/applications/automotive-lighting-systems/Pages/lrgmain.aspx 2007 Edge 2011 Edge If you have OEM halogen on your Edge (not HID), looks like the same lighting for the dome (578/42mm festoon), not so sure on map lights (2825 vs 3886x), though I do know they are both T10-based bulbs, so you should be OK. Nothing beats pulling out the actual bulb though, as there are always running changes in production, and your Edge may be the odd "man" out. -
AFE Dry air filter for a little more performance on my 3.5
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to carguy75's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
Even if the oiling caused an issue, regular cleaning of the MAF/MAP sensor (once a year?) would be good, inexpensive practice. Now as far as the throttle body, it would take serious overoiling to affect it IMHO, but I don't really see any discussions on that link. -

I have the drop-in filter. The Edge does have adaptive logic for the drivetrain. -
