Looks like the door is being repaired? -
headlight trouble
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Ricky Hardin's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Welcome! Tell us more about your Edge/MKX - what year/trim level? Do you have halogen/HID? What type of bulb (9005/9006 etc.) did you pull out, and did you put in an exact replacement? If 2011+ MY, could be a stuck shutter in the headlight. -

If you don't see any leaks/smell any coolant/coolant doesn't look contaminated, I'd keep an eye on it for now. It may have been low for a while and finally just got to a point where it made you notice. Heater cores used to leak onto the passenger side carpet in the olden days. Hoses can develop pinhole leaks too. Check to make sure they are pliable and not too soft or hard when the engine is cooled down. Finally, you could replace the degas bottle cap, may not be holding pressure. Cheap enough to replace.

Safe driving/good luck, mac! -
Low coolant level in the degas bottle?

Running out of fuel can damage the fuel pump. Since the failure was not caused by a defective part, and instead by user negligence, the warranty would not cover fuel pump replacement. http://www.agcoauto.com/content/news/p2_articleid/195

Glad to have a simple button on my '07!

Sorry you have to go through this, and good luck! The dealer should trace any shorts causing this problem before returning the Edge back to you. Añy other symptoms? Could be battery, gear shifter, APIM - most common culprits. Could be a keyless entry module in this case.

Secret to a happy marriage But seriously, who knows all the intricacies of all the electronic gizmos & their individual logic in the Edge? We apply our reasoning to explain a phenomenon, sounds logical, doesn't make it right.

You can, positive probe on the positive terminal, negative probe on negative, like any other electrical connection. Yes, you have to use the Ohms scale to check for resistance, should be about the same values for all of them. If the needle swings to infinity, that's an open circuit, and you know that injector needs to be replaced. Not sure what our injectors specifically should show, can't find the specs. This is all assuming the PCM is working properly through its' wires & circuits as well. The FI may be ok, the PCM may not. This writeup is not specific to our 3.5L, but it gives you an idea: http://troubleshootmyvehicle.com/ford/4.6L-5.4L/how-to-test-the-fuel-injectors-1

You may not think so, but beware of the chances you'll become re-infatuated with your Edge after the work is done! -
What problems are you having that lead you to the fuel injector area? The PCM given you any codes? The quick way to physically check them is to use a tool like this to see the FI pulses. This doesn't guarantee though that the injector is not sticking or fouled. For that, you have to pull the injector, attach it to a fuel source and a power source, then check the spray pattern as you pulse the power. Or better yet, send to a fuel injector cleaning service for analysis.

Brake pedal sometimes becomes hard
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to nonipk's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Any recent brake service? Time to replace the brake booster, most likely. Have the master cylinder verified while the booster is being serviced. Don't want the master cylinder leaking into the booster and ruining it. Just an FYI: If the pedal is too SOFT, that is, it goes all the way to the floor before any braking action actually happens, that is usually a master cylinder (could be a leaking brake line). And if it is in between normal & too SOFT ("spongy"), could be air in the system that needs to be bled. -

Good luck with the harness, hope it works flawlessly! Must have felt good getting your hands on the Edge , before the Chinese gold dust laid claim to it Installed macbwt-inspired Monroe MaxLift hatch struts, replaced cabin air filter with an ATP charcoal filter, checked all fluids & air filter. Washing to come later this week. -
Look for these from K&N: http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?prod=77-2583KS or Weapon-R: http://www.weapon-r.com/products/2382-2013-3-5l-v6-ford-edge-secret-weapon-intake People didn't have much luck with the ProZen intake, so best to stay away from that. Carid, AutoAnything, EBay or direct from mfr are places to start looking.
