  1. Please don't cross-post, it adds to the confusion & clutters up the forum Original post: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/17545-2009-silver-ford-edgelincoln-mkx/
  2. It does open quickly, so now I have watch the chin And it doesn't bounce at the top like the StrongArms did. Win-win so far.
  3. What options do you have on the mirror you are looking for: BLIS/puddle lamp/spotter/heated, etc.? You can see the various options listed on the Ford site under BODY then MIRRORS: http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/CatalogResults.aspx?y=2009&m=Lincoln&mo=MKX
  4. If you a] don't face very slippery conditions and b] pay attention/don't drive aggressively and c] have great all-season or season-appropriate tires with good depth on the Edge, FWD should be just fine. Good tires are a MUST. AWD does give you more control of the vehicle should it slip, as all 4 wheels can be controlled rather than just the front two. I think the AWD is primed, but not really active until there is a loss of traction situation. Here in MD, it is common to have road surfaces with varying degrees of traction, whether it's due to leaves & grass clippings or oil slicks or snow/slush/ice all at the same time. While driver involvement is still important, it's nice (to me) to have that little extra comfort zone, insurance if you will. This is my first AWD in many, many years of driving. Maybe you can tell on the 2011+ when the system is working, I don't think you can on the 2007-10.
  5. And your Edge thanks you! 15 buckets??? I'd thrash that magic hose silly
  6. Monroe 901848. Not listed for 2007, but listed for 2008. Go figure. Working well for me so far. The only place needed to apply some (not a lot) force is to get it to start closing.
  7. According to the 2007 FSM, you have to raise the front wheels off the floor and maintain a vacuum of 20-25 in Hg with a Vacuum Pump Kit 416-D002 (D95L-7559-A) or equivalent with the engine running while performing the maneuvers you described. That should purge the system of any air.
  8. Would like to get updates from you over time on the RP-Lubegard combo for the PTU. Best of luck!
  9. Glad to hear you found a DIY solution, too bad the dealerships didn't deliver. Definitely provide feedback to Tricia/Meagan at FordService so this experience goes on record.
  10. 75W-140, right, not 90W-140? The RDU takes 80W-90. If you did put in 90W-140, I would take mac's advice and cycle that out soon. Using a different weight is not advisable. Also, the capacity is stated as 12 ounces for the PTU (more than 36 oz (!) for the RDU). Best to put the vehicle on 4 jackstands or on a lift to do these changes for that reason. Let us know how the Edge feels with the new fluid in place.
  11. Break in your Edge gently rmmick, and let us know the Vin number so we can pick it up from the CPO lot
  12. Had put Moog swaybar endlinks on my SHO three years ago, only to have them snap within 6 months. Not like I was busy canyon carving either.
  13. Well, there's Dolby Digital, there's DTS, there's THX, and numerous proprietary surround sound formulations out there being used in mobile audio systems. Heck, for home audio, they even have surround/center channel speaker soundbars! Regarding sound quality, yes, there are differences due to encoding or source material. The only constant you have is YOUR audio system. Some implementations are cleaner than others. BUT they ARE using the 5.1 or 7.1 or whatever ...
  14. I personally would be wary of doing this type of work myself, taking it to a machine shop where they do this on a regular basis might be a better idea. Cost issue again, though, I guess. Do you have an "instructor" at the autoskills place that can make sure it's done right? Good luck
  15. TBH, locking the thread doesn't really serve a purpose here. Another thread can be created just as easily. Short of banning the member, it is a loud warning, but futile at best. It is pretty easy to see when a conversation isn't really going where you would want it to. So keep your responses to a minimum, address/present facts, and leave it at that. If the other party accepts them, great, if not, so be it. Facts are not always so, just as "science" is not "truth". Let the reader decide for themselves after that.
  16. Hopefully they are not stalling you. I would ask for a case # or communications copy to confirm their request. If they won't do that (could be a valid reason, don't know), go ahead with the plan to contact Ford US directly.
  17. Can you put up a picture of the part you are asking about? Not sure what exactly you are looking to change (other than it is electronic).
  18. Or DVD-Audio either! Those 2 standards never did catch on, but I have to say the recordings sound fabulous on the home systems.
  19. With the variable conditions the IOLM in newer vehicles takes into account, should be a healthy way of keeping the engine running smoothly. I think you can even change the % at which Chicken Little starts screaming to suit your style.
  20. I think you will have better luck than having to use a bra as a fan belt I thought the noise was minimal at this point?
