  1. Beautiful collection (cars)! Like every one of 'em. Glad your wife puts up with it
  2. A far cry from the GM days ... The only theft issues we encountered, luckily, were with the '84 Mustang whose wheels were stolen with the body left up on blocks.
  3. Do you know what the plug gaps were at that mileage? NA engines tolerate a pretty wide range, for the Edge I have heard/seen up to 0.025-0.030 gap growth.
  4. Well, they make it sound simple: Item Part Number Description 1 — Shock absorber and spring assembly 2 W520212 Shock absorber upper mount nuts (4 required) 3 W712555 Shock absorber lower flag bolts (2 required) 4 W520216 Shock absorber lower nuts (2 required) 5 — Wheel speed sensor harness clip Removal and Installation Remove and discard the 4 shock absorber upper mount nuts. To install, tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft). Remove the wheel and tire assembly.Remove the shock absorber lower nuts, flag bolts and the shock absorber and spring assembly. Discard the nuts and flag bolts. To install, tighten to 225 Nm (166 lb-ft). To install, reverse the removal procedure.Check and if necessary, adjust the alignment.
  5. Very cool! Did you sell it on or ... http://www.hotrod.com/cars/featured/hppp-0910-the-trans-am-421-sd/
  6. The brute spirit is alive & well in "track packs" today, just not as *cough* "pure".
  7. If it does end up being the OSS, might as well change the TSS, since you've done the pre-work anyway.
  8. Upper grille only (between the headlights)? How difficult to install compared to OEM?
  9. Did turning the Edge off, then restarting it make any difference after you experienced this problem? Was it a one-time thing or is it repeatable? First thing I'd do is pull codes to see what the PCM sees. Check trans fluid level also to see if it's low/burnt/dirty, and check for external leaks, especially around the PTU if yours is AWD. Lights or no lights, the next most likely possibilities are: Transmission Range Sensor Broken Orifice Cup Valve Body TSS/OSS sensors (may or may not set a code)
  10. Certainly one of the lowest I've ever seen!
  11. So it basically took O/D off? The throttle body causes loss of power when it malfunctions, could that be the case here? http://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2014/ford-to-fix-cars-limp-home.shtml
  12. Either folks don't have access to or experience with jacks/lifts, or there are too many steps to getting the LCA taken care of compared to the light bulb change. I think the Edge/MKX is reaching that 10 year point where you will see more owner-mechanic-DIY types.
  13. Sounds like it went into LIMP HOME mode? Could definitely be the TSS/OSS sensors. Did any lights come on? Hoepfully DTCs have been set and can help resolve this issue once and for all.
  14. At least you have the complaint on record? If you have it in writing/dealership letterhead, that's major ammo should this problem return. If you have another dealership nearby, you could try them, though a diagnostic fee might be charged.
  15. Learned to drive in an '81 Olds Omega with the 2.5L/4-banger engine. Team colors (burgundy/gold pinstripes). Pretty nice car overall, great for family outings, responsive with the pedal to the metal Only thing I had to do to it was the valve cover (or rocker cover) gasket, plugs, and distributor cap. Firestone tires, IIRC. Had room in the engine bay back then to work on things.
  16. As long as people believe the govt is going to continue to prop up GM/Chrysler, the stock will continue to be bid up. Let's hope the path for Ford is skyward
  17. Maybe put on rubber cement that's used for other kinds of weatherstrips (doors/windows) around the vehicle?
  18. I haven't looked for the one on mine, but try the fuse box panel under the dash. Probably a five number combo that should be the code. If it has been changed from factory, you will have to take the Edge to a dealer to get it reset. You need the keyless code to set a personal code.
  19. Glad it got sorted out, good luck!
  20. Was the old timing chain put back on? It is possible the chain or the tensioner failed. This could have caused bent rods/valves, which would lead to finding metal in the oil. Either way, it does look like at least a short block will be required.
