I see they got rid of the alien parasite on top of the intake!

You'd think, right? The dealership is playing the odds that you'll never file (time/money involved). As a Lincoln dealer, they should have been able to do the repair pretty easily & quickly. For now, I guess you have to wait, but not worry really until you have visual or olfactory confirmation. Document everything in case it's needed later. That IS a heck of a commute! And I am sure the days are not easy. Thank you for your service

It is a progressive leak, ultimately you will likely see remnants on the floor. But the fact that the leakage has been noted means it should be fixed. A leaky seal means contaminated fluid, which is obviously a no-no. I don't know what the motivation is behind their refusal to act, but I'd definitely press for it a) before the warranty period is up, b] if the fluid does drip onto the floor, or c) if you start smelling it. There is no question of them "working with you". Check your warranty coverage carefully. Is it a Ford ESP or a dealer warranty? I am in the Silver Spring area, right on the PG/Montgomery County line

Good info, any idea which TSB they referred to for these 4-cycle engines? Pretty early to have the disorder... Was it this one? Date Reported JANUARY 01, 2014 NHTSA Reference #10055042 TSB Reference #ASI-44354 Description: FORD/LINCOLN: AN ACCUMULATION OF OIL, IN LEFT HAND VALVE COVER BAFFLE, MIGRATING THROUGH FRESH AIR INTAKE OF POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) SYSTEM, MAY HAVE ENGINE OIL IN INTAKE AIR SYSTEM COMPONENTS. MODEL 2011-2013 EDGE, EXPLORER

If trans fluid is leaking, that's a seal replacement in the works, and should not cause PTU failure. Now PTU fluid leakage, that is a MAJOR concern for the PTU. Regardless, if there is a warranty, they should perform the TSB on the PTU seal, for deductible or free.

Don't worry, there are people who make u-turns from the shoulder on multi-lane busy roads too! -
Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Damage? - Rear-Ended 2009 Limited AWD
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to evh's topic in 3.5L
This could be a complex issue, because of lines, wiring, and valves involved. I'd have them checked for integrity. Was it the fuel level sensor (accessible from under the rear seat) that was replaced? -

Not too bad! I think your EVAP light/warning probably scared the c*** outta him -
Well, at least now you have it on record now that there is a potential problem. I'm just glad you didn't have the pleasure of seeing your Edge encaged and enraged.

air intake waste of money on edge

3.5" I believe. You can find rubber/plastic caps at HD/Lowe's etc. -

OEM mounts or aftermarket? Yeah, the snowball effect gets pronounced the older the vehicle is. The springs you definitely have to go OEM, unless you want to put in a lowering kit -

Choices in Edge parts are hard to come by. A while ago, someone had queried Bilstein, but they had no interest in the Edge platform. It's not like only 20 Edge vehicles are sold every year ... -
air intake waste of money on edge

Aluminum = heat soak under continuous operation. Plastic/carbonfiber is a significant step up. IDK if plastidip would make any difference, but it would certainly change the look of the intake. Is that cone filter also a K&N? -
air intake waste of money on edge
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Matt Ives's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Didn't think you had the K&N This one is running too close to the engine anyway, and the path is too long. We need to keep it away from heat sources as much as possible. Is the tubing metal or plastic? These things may make the air hotter and thus less dense, ultimately less power. Where is the MAF sensor located (I can't make it out)? Do you have an Android device? you can use Torque Pro to monitor air temp vs intake air temp to see how much the air heats up. Best/cheapest thing to do is use a drop in K&N in the stock setup, if you have a hankering for modding the air intake system, IMHO. I see you also have a crankcase breather installed. How's it working? -
Have it checked for fluid level anyway after you get it back
-
Do you have AWD? That is a bit more labor as you have to remove catback and driveshaft to get to the fuel tank. Otherwise it's disconnecting a bunch of lines & brackets. I'd think aftermarket SS would be cheaper to get this done at. Canister and solenoid are underneath the vehicle, under the passenger seat area approximately, from the diagram posted earlier, near as I can tell. No direct fuel tank involvement. The closest thing I can find by your description of the vent is the BT4Z-9D667-A part, which is Fuel Vapor ReturnTube Assy Part Includes 9C052 Pressure Transducer

On to the canister/solenoid next!

air intake waste of money on edge
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Matt Ives's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Which air intake did you install, Matt? New or used? K&N or some other brand? If not K&N, please post some details so we can see what might be going on. Pictures of current installation would be helpful too. -
A fusible link maybe? I have seen those on other Ford vehicles. Anyway, whoever the vehicle is taken to for service, they should perform an amp draw with everything off, nothing plugged into a power point, very simple to do. If there IS an amp draw, start narrowing down the suspects one by one.

I don't see a Quick Strut offering for the Edge. This is what the e-catalog says: Monroe Suspension parts for Monroe.com Last Updated 03-01-2015 2008 - Ford Edge HIGHLIGHTED part numbers indicate premium products. I don't think he'll get back the old part, normally don't get old parts back from a Ford service shop. Especially since there was warranty coverage, I assume Ford has "ownership" of the old/failed part.

Did you add a URL to the first line? The forum software will automatically take it out (part of anti-spam behavior?).

You just looked this up on the Ford site? Do you remember the URL, or how you got to it? I want to see if the info is inconsistent there. N/M, confirmed what akirby noted in the last post. Yeah, look for the latest revision of the manual, because a lot of times when the first revision comes out (first year of model), there are inaccuracies in there. No harm in asking anyway
