  1. Maybe the steel not of as good a quality as in the past?
  2. Sweet updates! Looking forward to the pics & your review of the new lights (staying away from filter discussions lol) ...
  3. Looks nice! My Edge has issues with the headlights pitting more than anything else, they are pretty clear otherwise.
  4. A handy reference to modern gasoline formulations: http://www.ethanolrfa.org/page/-/rfa-association-site/ChangesinGasolineManualIV-UpdatedLogo.pdf?nocdn=1 ChangesinGasolineManualIV-UpdatedLogo.pdf
  5. Have you looked up the window sticker for your Edge to see what's supposed to be on there? Mine says 20 gallons, even though AWD is supposed to have 19 gal for 2007. http://www.inventory.ford.com/services/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=
  6. Best of luck, hoping for a continuation of the trend
  7. Loaded this wifi OBD2 adapter from Amazon for use with Forscan Lite on the iPad. Works without a hitch! In the process, discovered a 3.16 axle ratio (as expected), and a tire rev/km setting of 438 (not expected, should be 424 for 245/60/18 tires and 432 for 235/65/17 tires). My Edge has the 18's, so that'd throw calculations off a little, don't you think?
  8. You always want torque where it can best be utilized, no good if you can't put it to the ground. The nice thing about EB engines is the rapid build and then the flattish curve after. For exampe, the 3.5L EB: http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/03/ford-details-how-ecoboost-promises-to-be-more-powerful-eco-frie/
  9. 2011+ Edge powertrains supposedly have a "Smart Charging" feature where the PCM controls alternator output. Can't really find any proper documentation on this, but here are a few bulletins for other/older models (below). Harness check or alternator replacement are possible solutions if all the other known issues for the Edge re: battery drain are checked & found not to be the case. 19773 2005-2007 FREESTYLE/FIVE HUNDRED/MONTEGO - HARD TO DIAGNOSE MIL ON/INTERMITTENT TELLTALES AND/OR CHARGING SYSTEM LIGHT SOME 2005-2007 FREESTYLE/FIVE HUNDRED/MONTEGO VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT A HARD TO DIAGNOSE MIL ON, INTERMITTENT TELLTALES, OR INTERMITTENT CHARGING SYSTEM LIGHT. INSPECT THE MAIN ENGINE HARNESS TO PCM (12B637 - ENGINEERING / 12A581 - SERVICE) FOR POSSIBLE CONTACT WITH THE A/C LINES ON THE PASSENGER-SIDE REAR AREA OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. IF CONTACT IS FOUND, INSPECT THE HARNESS FOR A RUB THROUGH CONDITION. IF A RUB THROUGH IS FOUND, REPAIR AS NECESSARY. IF NO RUB THROUGH IS FOUND REPOSITION HARNESS AWAY FROM THE A/C LINES AND PROCEED WITH NORMAL DIAGNOSTICS. EFFECTIVE DATE: 10/12/2006 May be able to have it turned off through IDS, have heard mention of that in an Aussie forum.
  10. The driveshaft support bearing could be, not sure re: cost. The exhaust shield may just require some repositioning/tightening. It may require some bending back into shape if it has deformed. Pretty easy/quick to do if the vehicle is on a lift. http://autorepair.about.com/od/fixityourself/ss/heat_shield_2.htm#step-heading DIY: Repairing an Exhaust Heat Shield Rattle I didn't see a pic in the FSM where the heat shields are on the Edge, otherwise I'd post
  11. My guess would be a loose heat shield. Edge has been quiet (knock on wood), but have had it on other Fords. A broken exhaust clamp can cause that also, but less likely. Sound travels. If the sound is indeed originating between front /back doors, it could be a driveshaft support bearing. Any objects recently hit the underneath of the Edge? Any loss in power or other issues?
  12. Are there multiple Sunrise Ford dealerships in CA? There is at least one person with positive experience with the one in North Hollywood. EDIT: Obviously purchasing is a very personal experience, but here is the Dealerrater info on Ford dealerships in CA: http://www.dealerrater.com/directory/California/Ford/?typedCriteria=california

  14. My sympathies, and good luck!
  15. Welcome, and congrats on the '14 Edge! Hope your son enjoys it as much as you
  16. So sorry to hear, hope you can get a deal worked out soon!
  17. The differences are probably more from tuning and ability to adapt to different grades of fuel. But yeah, would be interesting to do a comparo.
  18. That I do not know. Maybe the audiophile version of the OEM radio has a sub out, I don't see anything helpful in the owner guide regarding that. Do you have the 6 disc changer or single disc unit? i believe the audiophile version has the 6 cd changer unit.
  19. Here's the thread for you insomniacs http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/10869-door-ajar-warning-on-at-all-times/
  20. Well, the listing says the unit is a monitor not a mirror. Doesn't talk about contrast either, so could explain difficulty in bright situations. When it's not in use (i.e., vehicle not reversing), the rearview is not available to you. I don't know about you, but I frequently scan the rear and side view mirrors while driving to keep apprised of traffic behavior. Not having that rearview mirror functionality would be bothersome.
  21. I believe the SEL+ would have the subwoofer, not the SEL. The most frequent/rewarding/simple upgrade is to change out the door speakers. If you don't have/need navigation, you could replace the head unit as well with one of choice, and add a sub at that time. EDIT: Do you know if you have the PREMIUM SOUND/AUDIOPHILE SOUND option? You can look up the window sticker to make it easier: http://www.inventory.ford.com/services/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  22. Most likely a water pump issue, IMHO, if there are no signs of engine/transmission oil in the coolant or vice versa. Could be a slow leak from the radiator/lines attached to radiator. Could be block porosity also (happens occasionally). An example of this on a Saab: http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/9-3/index.html?bID=137304 1" over 6 months isn't horrible, but definitely worth watching. Fill it back up to COLD FULL and keep an eye on it for a short while. Document frequently. A dye test could also be done, since the pressure test did not reveal anything.
  23. If they can check the PTU/RDU fluid levels along with trans fluid level, I think you may find your culprit.
  24. The rails appear to be gone from the catalog. I had seen roof racks for vehicles with the BAMR, I think around 3,000 MSRP, but that has also been pulled.
