Modding is always welcome around here I have seen people simply put LED strips along the outer edge of the headlamp assembly for an easy-peasy job. But if you want the LEDs inside the headlamps, you'll definitely have to put a little more time into the project. I hope they come apart easier than OEM.

Experiencing sudden power loss can have not-so-fun consequences. Similar to the debate over throttle bodies

30 mpg is NOTHING! With all those techniques, you'll creep past that goal in NO time!

I suspect 9-10 psi max, that's the usual factory boost Ford is putting out on the EBs. Usually good for a solid 14-15 psi, with spikes up to 24-25 psi.

2008 Ford Edge SE, Error Code P0171, P0201, P0301

So was it the suspect cylinder 1 coil? -
NOTE: All this could be only for the 2007 MY, just thought I'd put it out there. Had a bit of fun replacing the rear bank plugs. There's a brace at the rear of the intake manifold, well hidden on the Edge, and you can see it in the video above at about the 3:53 mark. Wouldn't see if unless you went looking for it. A 6-9 inch extension for the socket wrench should make it easy to remove. It won't fall out, will stay in the "bushing", IME. There's also an electrical connector at the bottom of the manifold on the manifold side of the PCV hose that you have to know is there and disconnect completely by feel. You won't see it on the intake manifold in the video at about 6:40 in. Pulling the hose off the PCV Valve was easy (no clamps); did have to use a wrench to turn it and remove it though. And the spring clamp on the brake vac hose were facing the firewall, so it made for a real joyous occasion Plugs ranged from 0.077 to 0.079. Edge not running too badly considering, but definitely better now. Easier for me just to slide the EVAP valve off the bracket and disconnect the electrical connector; much more freedom of movement. And lest I forget, this is the DIRTY throttle body the dealership keeps telling me I need to have serviced: 2007 Ford Edge Upper Intake Manifold R&R.PDF

P0456 - Evaporative Emissions System - Small leak detected
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to EdgeGermany's topic in 3.5L
Just curious, any of you all top off the tank after shutoff? These systems get more sensitive to that year by year, and apparently some of the "overage" (i.e., raw fuel) can spill into the EVAP system. -
As shown in the attached pic, the only bulb actually reused is the reverse/backup bulb. Just take it out of the old/Ford assembly, and put it into the DTBL assembly in the socket shown. Now, the socket that has the giant bulb in it is the brake light socket. You won't need the bulb any more, just the socket. So remove the bulb from the socket and disconnect the wiring connector (for easier installation). Instead of a bulb, the wiring connector coming out of the opening in the DTBL assembly will be plugged into this socket. See the image for inserting the connector in the right direction/polarity that worked for me. The DTBL assembly uses the brake light socket for signal and power to the internally controlled running light and brake light functions. The running light bulb is no longer needed. So discard the bulb, and tie up the socket securely/out of the way. Test the new assembly functions properly in place (but without the 2 screws installed). If all the lighting works properly without hyperflash etc., put in and tighten the 2 screws. Done!

Welcome to the forum! Would love to know some details on your Edge. Model, trim level, mileage, driving style, maintenance history, etc. The transmission programming is a composite of the manufacturer's desired goals at a price point. Not going to be ideal usually, but "good enough", especially with the adaptive PCM capability. Regular maintenance (e.g., changing trans fluid, changing spark plugs, etc.) also helps a great deal in this regard. Winter gas will exaggerate any "ill effects" also.

Great to hear, and stay safe!

It does happen sometimes as parts get updated, but the old boxes get reused. Good catch though! Might want to contact the seller and make sure you are getting the right part. Alternatively you can look for MOTORCRAFT DY-1286.

Did you use Ford/Lincoln or aftermarket assembly? Sometimes the connector is not very tight or falls off. I'd check the wiring around that first. Then move on to the possibility of problems with the A/C pressure switch (ACPSW) or ACP transducer sensor circuits.

I believe that's the electronic part of the electronic throttle body (the black plastic encased part).

2008 Ford Edge 3.5L #5 Coil replacement
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to montyvox's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
Try running a bottle of HEET through the gas tank. If there's water in there, HEET will take care of it. You can add it at any time, empty tank or full tank etc. Empty is always best for best mix, especially with AWD (due to saddle type tank) tho. No idea on the "defrost condenser sound". Have you changed the cabin filter lately? Can you describe the sound in further detail or record & post? If frost is forming on the coils, a new cabin filter and cleaning of the windshield cowl area might fix it. Or you might need to use a coil cleaner to get rid of stuff built up on them. -
Noise eliminator, just like on an exhaust system.

Impatient to receive my new 2015 Edge Sport !!
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Etienne Bégin's topic in Welcome Forum!
Welcome, Etienne. Maybe FordService can help you out, if you can PM them the details? 3 more posts by you on this forum will get you to the necessary 5 count to have PM privileges. -
Can't seem to load the pic, but I assume you are referring to the resonator. This is held on by 2 clamps, which people have removed and used plastic/rubber plugs from a hardware store to enclose.

Automatic transmission fluid...when do you change it?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Jackman5000's topic in 3.5L
Per the 2012 owner's manual, the transmission uses Mercon LV fluid, capacity of 11 quarts for the 6F50 transmission, and 9 quarts for the 6F35 transmission. -
What to expect at 200,000+ miles

I think the Edge got the engine/appearance covers in 2011 for the Sport (and later on for the 2.0 EB also). The MKX got it earlier, I want to say 2008, maybe 2007. Should run cooler without the cover on the engine, if it's designed anything like on other models in the Ford lineup.
