13N02 - Extended Warranty Coverage on Brake Booster
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to omar302's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
Nope, no such luck. -
Welcome to the fold, Dood, congrats on the '13 Edge! What are your plans for the new ride? First Ford?
-
The BCM should also be looked at. Hopefully it IS the alternator or related cabling, like akirby said. But if needs must, one fuse/relay should be pulled at a time until the source of the drain is isolated. Sometimes being smart is not enough, you HAVE to do the grunt work too! A Lincoln dealership instead perhaps?

What to expect at 200,000+ miles

Clean as a whistle, no doubt -
Have you checked the battery cable terminals, are they attached securely? Could be a short somewhere, possibly a faulty ignition cylinder. Is the battery spec'd for at least 600 CCAs? You must see some pretty high temps in NV, and if so, that will eat batteries for lunch. Def make sure you have a strong battery to start with.

You probably get a mileage deduction the size of some people's mortgages -
Any shifting issues or error messages relating to that? Seems to be a popular reason for battery drain.
-
Does the recent recall affect you, grumzy? That might just be the ticket to getting the power steering issue fixed. Since you have EPAS, I won't suggest the possibility of a fluid line leak either, as the dealer already warned of that LOL. http://www.leftlanenews.com/ford-recalls-452k-vehicles-to-fix-power-steering-overheating-88604.html#ixzz3bMTJnCKT Even if the Edge is not included, worth pointing this issue out to Ford and the dealer to see if it can be included.

It's been quiet on the 2.0EB front for a bit, mostly need to make sure the hoses are securely clamped on and the fuel pump/fuel control module is working properly. I am thinking that for the type of driving you'd be doing (mostly highway), it could be a very economical choice. Only thing I MIGHT advise looking into for other people would be an ESP, but you'd wear out a 7 year warranty in what, a year and a half??? Nothing wrong with sticking with the trusty V6, who knows you might even get a better deal on it! -

Do they provide an engine cover with the V6? -
Reported many times over the years, and especially in the rear. Slide pins and caliper pistons. I am not sure how often people are flushing their brake fluid, but it needs to be done every 30-35000 miles even if rotors and pads are fine. Brake fluid does get "dirty" and can compromise piston function. Rust threats do not go away even with "lifetime" fluid.

Save the gummi bears and french fries for me. The rest you can toss! Should also clean off the MAF while you are addressing the throttle body. When the rpms drop, do you have any accesories running at the time? I know that if the HVAC is on/compressor is on, sometimes this will happen. The other possibility is you have a small vacuum leak somewhere. -
Problem with door ajar sensor

Pretty sad the issue is continually "postponed". OTOH, we do have DIY solutions for replacement, so there IS a bright spot -

2012 Edge Sport, My impressions not very good so far.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Diesel350's topic in Owner Impressions
Do you have the 22" wheels on your Sport, Diesel? I have heard that the firmer ride can provide additional feedback in the cabin, including vibration. If you have AWD, the driveshaft is a possibility as akirby said. In which case, I would take a look at PTU & RDU fluid levels & condition. Wheel bearings were pointed out earlier as a likely suspect, did you have a chance to verify them? As far as alignment goes, sometimes the subframe has to be adjusted a bit for that last bit of perfection. -

Driver floor is SOAKING WET
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Blue_Edge15's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Sealer just means some sort of water-resistant product they will use to protect the steering gear mounting bolts. No seals involved. Long ago Ford had recalls on Taurus vehicles for similar problems with subframe bolts. Fortunately did not have the pleasure of having this part fail on me To: All Ford and Lincoln - Mercury Dealers Subject: Safety Recall 98S36 - Certain 1986 - 1995 Taurus and Sable and 1988 - 1994 Continental Vehicles - Sub-Frame Rear Plate Nut Replacement AFFECTED VEHICLES Certain 1986-1995 Taurus and Sable and 1988-1994 Continental vehicles that were originally sold or are currently registered in the following U.S. states and Canadian Provinces: U.S. States: Connecticut Delaware District of Columbia Illinois Indiana Iowa Kansas Kentucky Maine Maryland Massachusetts Michigan Minnesota Missouri Nebraska New Hampshire New Jersey New York Ohio Pennsylvania Rhode Island Vermont Virginia West Virginia Wisconsin Canadian Provinces: Manitoba New Brunswick Newfoundland Nova Scotia Ontario Prince Edward Island Quebec REASONS FOR RECALL The body mounts on the rear corners of the sub-frame that support the engine and transmission may separate. This can occur if the lower retainer plate of the mount or the retaining plate nut becomes severely corroded from long term exposure to road salts and retention of moisture in the mounts. This corrosion can weaken the retainer plate of the mount or the retaining plate nut severely enough to allow the bolt head to pull through the washer or out of the nut. Should both rear mounts separate, the rear of the sub-frame will drop and steering may suddenly become difficult. This could result in an accident. SERVICE ACTION To correct this condition, dealers will replace the attaching bolts, plate nuts and the reinforcement plates on the bottom of the sub-frame rear body mounts, on all affected vehicles.- 478 replies
