Definitely, Ford should take a hard look at the design of these seals since this is obviously not a one-off issue. I am SURE they have done extensive testing, and would not have let it pass into production otherwise. BUT, now that this issue has been identified in the field, they should obviously pay to fix correctly, which may take time to diagnose and develop a solution deliverable to the customer. Offering to replace the vehicle is nice (as the problematic vehicles are lo mileage anyway) in the interim, but not necessarily a cure, as the replacements may also end up with a leak. So some patience is required I would think on the part of the customer. At the very least get a nice rental while the Edge is in the shop to get properly fitted & fixed.

Nice to see this option put into play. Thanks for the additional info, coronan!

Amsoil is good stuff. Many Ford nuts I know using it for the PTU/RDU are seeing results. Continued success, JL!

17" Rims From '07 On '13 That Runs 20's Now ???
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to ExNascarDood's topic in Wheels & Tires
Actually, you are in luck. It's easier to put larger hubbed wheels on smaller hubs (with hub adapters) rather than the other way round. Gets expensive to expand the bore of the wheel for a larger hub. What you need to get are 63.4 to 70.6 adapters. -

Good luck with the "new" ride. Interesting how vehicles flow in the family -

'11+ is smaller, at 63.4 mm, '07-'10 are the 70.6 mm hubs. -

Saddened. But, as long as MG Productions are in full swing, I can forgive you -
Welcome to the community, Saxman_T, nice lookin' Edge! Interesting, you and macbwt are 2 of the highest "grossing" drivers on the forum, and both have enjoyed crossing paths with a deer. I guess it was bound to happen! Glad to see the lemonade

Andrew? Adam? Anthony? August? Alex? I'm no good at guessing games -
I do believe diagnostics costs are your responsibility, as they have to be reimbursed for their time. Now, it is up to the dealership to waive such costs, on a voluntary basis. Since the issues were not covered by the FSA, the ball isn't in Ford's court either. Again, it is up to Ford to determine whether they pay or not on such an incident, as a courtesy to their customer. It IS a risk we run when taking our vehicles in for service. Sorry

Sorry to hear about the TB, mac, hope you get a good deal on an Edge! -
What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?

Definitely helps carry that styling cue throughout! -
Not at all, just a possibility derived from across the vehicle spectrum.

Tricia is our official Ford CSR, forum name FordService. You can contact her for assistance as needed, PM probably works faster. Make 4 more posts in the test forum to get to the min 5 post requirement to use the PM feature. Crystal is on other forums, I believe, BlueOval/Flex etc?- 478 replies

No more hiccups!!! -
Wouldn't worry about it unless it is very easy to hear under any condition. Most likely culprits are improperly attached fuel tank straps or loose/missing baffles internal to the tank. They should have checked the straps at the dealer though.

What trim/engine do you have in the Edge? Based on the 2007 FSM: Could be a bad actuator, a wiring problem, or a faulty SJB (bad to worst possibilities). Testing wiring/circuits requires Ford-specific probe connectors. If it is an actuator, you will still need to remove the door trim panel and window regulator/motor to get to it. Near as I can tell, the part numbers for the actuator/latch are: BT4Z7821812A (Right) BT4Z7821813A (Left)

Parts roulette is the name of the game unfortunately. It all depends on who you talk to at the store, their depth of knowledge/experience. Sometimes you get tricked even with OEM. I do hope the COPs for the TB work out -

Could be a bad throttle position sensor or throttle body. How many miles do you have on your Edge, and what is the maintenance history? -
I am sure a Ford dealer in Germany could do it for you, they may need to talk to HQ to find out how, but they should be able to do it.
