  1. This is one of the wars that the consumer gets pulled into. A lot of hullabaloo in the beginning, then it's radio silence for a loooooong period of time. At the very least, you deserve honest and better communications from the mfr.
  2. With these modern shapes and "lifetime design", these small things REALLy get tucked away. If I HAVE to get cuts & scrapes, I'd rather it be while working on an engine or trans than changing a little ole lightbulb!
  3. Nice job, Bossross, nothing better than being hands-on with your fav vehicle Can be agonizing to find flaws, but really therapeutic fixing them. And if it's flawless, awesome!!! You might be interested in this thread (there are other, smaller threads also related to how folks detail their vehicles): http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/5535-ask-a-professional-detailer/
  4. You have to crack the trans case open to remove the "filter", there is no filter like there used to be with trans pans that you could unbolt from the bottom for regular fluid & filter changes. The FSM puts a filter change under the DISASSEMBLY section of the transmission. Disassembly NOTE: Note the orientation of the fluid filter to the fluid pump. Remove and discard the fluid filter. Remove and discard the fluid filter seal. Clean and inspect the components of the pump assembly for wear or damage. Inspect the fluid drained from the pump for excessive metal debris. If excessive wear, damage or excessive metal is found, replace the fluid pump as an assembly. Assembly Flush the pump with clean automatic transmission fluid. Rotate the pump shaft by hand to clean the old transmission fluid out of the pump. NOTE: Lubricate the seal with clean automatic transmission fluid. Install the fluid filter seal in the fluid pump. NOTE: Install the filter in the correct orientation as noted in removal. Install the fluid filter in the fluid pump. Unrelated: a peek at the TSS/OSS sensors and valve body in this post: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/13407-what-have-you-done-towith-your-edgemkx-today/?view=findpost&p=124435
  5. I imagine that might be true IF the engine were not calibrated to recognize and use the higher octane fuels. 2011+ should do fine with these, 2007-10 not so much.
  6. This post by autom8r might be just what you need, Daniel: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/12767-how-to-change-high-pressure-power-steering-line-on-2007-edge/?do=findComment&comment=101318 Ford Edge Power Steering HP.pdf 777.05KB Ford Edge Power Steering HP2.pdf 711.05KB If you had an ESP warranty, it should be covered, as this post by ls973800 says: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/14553-2011-ford-edge-sel-leaking-ps-leaking-at-banjo-fitting-not-covered-under-premium-esp/?do=findComment&comment=112275 Another experience from a 2009 owner: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/7545-power-steering-leak/?do=findComment&comment=123433 The location of the actual drip may be concealed from view by heatshield material, as shown in this post: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/17795-drip-under-engine-bay-2007-ford-edge-sel-plus/?do=findComment&comment=129135 TSB on power steering leaks
  7. You can search for "hardwire radar" to come up with a few conversations on this. One such example is: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/13215-radar-detector-hardwire-info/ and that includes a video by one of our favorite lighting vendors, DTBL
  8. Yup. Go here, and type in FordServiceCA into the recipient's name, then compose the rest of your message and send it.
  9. AC performance is pretty crucial to car sales, I hope people do a bit of research on forums to discover these easy fixes so they don't get diverted from their otherwise "perfect choice".
  10. Ah, mea culpa! It is supposed to be 520, not 420 for the 2011+! I tried to use the strikeout feature to correct the post, but the line coincides with the flat line on the 4 and can't be seen Anyways, Autozone always has this 20% off on items shipped to home, or you can take advantage of gift cards you can use online/instore (check out giftcardgranny.com). I have used Cardpool, CardCash, ABC Gift Cards, and Raise as vendors, multiple times and all without a hitch.
  11. So cool, Larry! I really hope this works out for you and the wife, would make me doubly glad to see you enjoy the Edge in safety.
  12. Outrageous response from the RCSM! I don't blame you for feeling deserted.
  13. NGK would be my 2nd choice, Denso has the wrong plug gap. BTW, the gap spec is tighter on the 2011+ than the 2007-10: 0.049–0.053 inch (1.25–1.35 mm) vs 0.050–0.057 inch (1.29–1.45 mm) SP4520 vs SP411
  14. Can't really beat Ford OEM unless you want to find copper-based equivalents (Autolite or Champion, I think) And measure gap, but don't necessarily re-gap if not too far off. Mine ranged from 0.055-0.058 from the factory. I have had better results just plugging them in w/o changes. Gaskets I got the Victor Reinz, probably the best you can buy, for Ford products at least. New PCV sounds good, keep that oil vapor flowing as intended!
  15. Definitely do the manual calculations, like Waldo said, to see if there might be an instrumentation issue or an actual parts issue. Pull codes to see if there's anything related to the fuel or the EVAP system. The codes are not a be-all end-all solution, but can get you off to a good start in diagnostics.
  16. Clean install Is the grille protected as well? Hope cleanups become supereasy!
  17. Wow, that's some really dirty trickery! Nothing a 100 lashings in the town square wouldn't fix.
  18. Moderators, please move to appropriate subforum How many miles on your Edge? Have you pulled codes in the computer (or had a service shop/auto parts store do it)? I assume you have had wheel alignment and tires checked? Those are the most common reasons why you would hear noises generated by the vehicle. If the motor mounts were at fault, I'd expect to hear/feel a clunk of some sort as the engine/transmission flexes back & forth (on acceleration/deceleration). Next, are all the fluids in good condition and at the full mark (engine, transmission, power steering, brakes etc)? When was the last service date/what is the service history? Finally, it's possible you are feeling misfires happening in the engine. Which most likely would be worn out spark plugs. Have these been replaced at all? It's possible the coils are also at fault (one or more). An infrequent, but possible issue.
