  1. The HM oil is to see if there is a leak problem. It may not be just PCV valve at the root if there IS a leak, and in that case the HM oil can be of great help. If there is a leak caused by a PCV valve problem, then you are right, the problem is not solved by HM oil. mac's 2011 video works for at least the 2011-14 Edge/MKX with the 3.5 engine. Not sure about the 2015 yet.
  2. Usually rust on the rotors after sitting overnight will cause that sound, especially if the humidity is high. When I move the Edge after such conditions occur, I move it with some gusto (not gently) and that really cuts down on the period of time the annoying sound occurs. No safe way to prevent the light rust unfortunately. If it IS the belts, it might be the power steering belt. That is the most common one to squeal.
  3. Typically, the 3.5 does not burn oil. It is a very reliable engine. If the PCV valve becomes stuck or clogged, the fumes that normally escape from the engine and get recirculated back into the combustion chamber have now no place to go. This increases internal pressure in the engine, which in turn causes the gaskets to leak. Try using High Mileage oil just to see if the oil use drops/stops. These oils contain seal swellers that can rejuvenate seals that have dried out, thus reestablishing a closed system. Also make sure you are using the correct oil weight/specification at every oil change. Do you have AWD or FWD? What is your typical drive like city/highway/stop'n'go/etc.? That will draw a better picture of the mileage you should be getting. Have you noticed any changes in mpg/kpl over time?
  4. Unless you have a LOT of mileage on the engine with poor maintenance, it is HIGHLY UNUSUAL to lose so much oil in so little time. You could have gaskets leaking (most likely valve cover), and it might be caused by a faulty/wornout PCV valve. Any other symptoms/problems lately? Smoke out the exhaust etc.
  5. That's just when they decided to put out the TSB for. As with anything, it may or may not be the problem in your specific instance, but worth a go at the dealer to have them fix.
  6. Cool diag Hopefully this will help out a lot of people!
  7. Yeah, you can go from JOY to NOJOY in no time at all, depending on the fuel gauge. Esp if there's a fault somewhere in the system or you are not on a level road ...
  8. Man, that HomeLink stuff eats batteries for breakfast
  9. The 2007 FSM points to this as cause: A/C pressure switch (ACPSW) or ACP transducer sensor circuitsPart #11 in this illustration: 6F9Z19D594AA autom8r has previously mentioned that a bad CHT (cylinder head temperature 9L8Z6G004C) sensor can do this also. Get the codes from the OBD II system to see if they are of any help in this issue. In case there are followon AC issues: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/12884-08-edge-ac/?do=findComment&comment=100146
  10. More than likely, need to replace the head unit

  12. Enjoy the C Day weekend, no burning food, only burnouts allowed!

    Ticking Noise

Based on the location of the sound, you are probably looking at a PTU-Driveshaft issue. In Park/Neutral, I believe the driveshaft is disengaged. Any fluid leaks from that area? What's possibly needed: PTU fluid R&R PTU unit R&R Driveshaft bearings R&R Driveshaft R&R I'm leaning more towards a driveshaft issue though.
  14. There are 2 TSBs at least for power steering: one for the belt and one for the lines themselves.
  15. They don't have hi-carbon rotors for the Edge. Their Stoptech line does tho, costs a bit more than the Duralast Gold, and not plain.
  16. Exactly. Showing interest now propels the aftermarket down the production path. Some parts take just a couple of months, but many can take a year or more to move from design to production.
  17. Band type. I think the stem type went into production in 2011, MAYBE 2010. As long as the manufacturer warrants it for the year/model, it doesn't really matter.
  18. From the pics I see on Ebay, any of the units with navigation do not have RCA jacks directly attached. They have jacks where you can plug in a harness with RCA jacks though. http://www.ebay.com/itm/FACTORY-STOCK-OEM-FORD-GPS-NAVIGATION-RADIO-UPGRADE-6CD-PLAYER-AUX-INPUT-STEREO-/141418824968
  19. THere are wiring harnesses you can buy to give you the RCA inputs. But a LockPick solution may be what you want: http://coastaletech.com/media/New%20Ford%20Sync%20FIM%20Lockpick%20Instructions.pdf http://www.coastaletech.com/fordapplications.htm
  20. Did they check to see if TSB 08-7-3 might apply by any chance? TSB 08-7-3 Pull-Drift Edge MKX.pdf
  21. The new tires look good! Hope they perform well as you continue to accumulate miles on them
  22. Good luck, take lots of before/after pics
  23. It would be cool to see the logic that goes into determining the %age commanded. Maybe I am overthinking it, but at the very least the formula would consider airflow at speed, ambient temperature, coolant temperature, possibly HVAC operation. I wonder if it assumes that the radiator and condensor are completely unblocked and are achieving full flow.
