Slight steering wheel shake after new tires installed
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to AndyinMN's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
Roadforce balancing should take care of it, if the lug nuts were tightened properly and the weights were correct/applied correctly. Different tires do have their own behavioral characteristics, but still should not cause the shake. New but faulty tires are known to happen. -
2015 Edge Sport - engine shut down while driving
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to djrjr's topic in 2.7L EcoBoost
djrjr, did you also check the battery cables for tightness, and any accessible grounds as well? Bad grounds in particular will cause bad data to the PCM, and bad decisions by the PCM. Could also have a fault with an ABS sensor (wheel speed sensor), a common problem that would cause the wrench to come on in the prev gen Edge. -
2015 Edge Sport - engine shut down while driving
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to djrjr's topic in 2.7L EcoBoost
Hard to say with engine controls these days what could cause a shutdown. A bad cat could be caused by bad fuel injectors, a known issue with the Ecoboost platform's DI tech. But it sounds more like an electrical issue at this point, possibly with the Stop-Start, possibly melted wiring, or even a bad PCM. -
No leak = good news. Glad you were able to get to it yourself! Looking forward to that YT video

Cracked flywheel! Gotta be a first, I guess. They have a new tank in stock?

I hope you properly recycled the summer air. It can be hazardous to your and your pets' health.

I don't see the MFS specifically listed in the CPO warranty, but if nothing else, you could approach it as being a safety concern.CPO_Warranty.pdf Not sure what an extended B2B warranty is. Closest would be PremiumCare ESP, AFAIK.

Traded-in Our 2011 Edge - It was a Great Vehicle!
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to blankster's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
No, the EBs do not require premium gas to operate, but will perform best on premium gas. Now if you tune the vehicle for premium gas, that's a different story. Typical language in owner's manuals: “Regular” unleaded gasoline with a pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87 is recommended. Some stations offer fuels posted as “Regular” with an octane rating below 87, particularly in high altitude areas. Fuels with octane levels below 87 are not recommended. Premium fuel will provide improved performance and is recommended for severe duty usage such as trailer tow. Do not be concerned if your engine sometimes knocks lightly. However, if it knocks heavily while you are using fuel with the recommended octane rating, see your authorized dealer to prevent any engine damage. -
There is no filter as such in the transmission, there IS a mesh screen. I doubt ATF has enough detergents to last 100,000 miles. The longer you let it go, the more likely a flush should be avoided to prevent potential trans clogs. Plus, not knowing the conditions the trans has been subjected to in its' service history, you have to assume the worst, and start with the drain & fill approach. If all looks well after a while, move forward to a flush later on. I am of the mindset that would rather do more fluid changes than specified by the OEM, than have to replace parts because of poor service history. "Lifetime" is a relative term. Not to be taken as "forever & ever & ever & ...". Marketing gimmick mostly. Best case scenario is what is specified by the mfr under "Normal" conditions. "Severe duty" is what a lot of see in real life. If you are not a hypermiler, if you drive in a lot of stop'n'go traffic, if your area is subject to climactic extremes, if you are a leadfoot, "severe duty" is what you should go by. BMWs are great (as long as they are under warranty ). However, I feel that as a %age, there are more "enthusiasts" in the BMW community (appropriately so), and hence more information (& parts) available readily for repair/mods. Nope, no such organization of information for the Edge/MKX. Good idea though. Have seen similar deals for other platforms as well.

Welcome, Brucifer! AWD or FWD? I wouldn't say this forum is short of information. Look at some threads for the backup camera alone: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/2768-backup-camera-install-into-factory-nav-unit/ http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/7415-edge-mid-range-touchscreen-stereo-upgrade-top-to-bottom/ http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/743-rear-view-camera-photos/ http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/12616-back-up-camera-install/ If the fluid in the trans is of unknown age/mileage, it is not advisable to flush. Instead a 3x drain and refill should be the first thing to do, to ensure there is no gunk floating around in the fluid. That may fix the "slow reverse" problem. But may need an additive, a "stop slip"-per if you will from Lucas or Lubegard. Better would be to step up to a quality full synthetic ATF like Amsoil. But if you can access the solenoids/valve body for a direct cleaning, that will likely be of great help in resolving the issue. Easy enough to do the plugs, take your time though. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/8724-sparkplug-replacement-job-info-with-photos/

Rear Camera guide issue
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Denise Perron's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Any error messages, or did it just go blank? You have MyFord Touch, right? The most common fixes are: software update (Sync and/or camera specific) camera replacement wiring connection decontamination -

Yeah, working that warranty alright -
Can't wait to see what you think about the dryflow filter, mac! I find it can be a bit loud for bumper-to-bumper traffic.

Turning off traction control can be important even in AWD cars, such as when stuck in mud or deep snow (the manual directly states this). Also for those who want more control in drag racing/autoX'ing situations (not in the manual).

Welcome to the forum, joemas, congrats on the '15 SEL, and welcome also to the Ford family. Hope we can make you a lifelong Ford convert!

Congrats on your Edge, glad we could twist your arm Pay a little attention to the Edge, and it should pay great dividends!
-
welcome WELcome WELCOME!!! Glad to have ya on board!

Get a good battery with the most CCA's you can, being in MIchigan. As akirby said, you are very likely looking at replacing the alternator as well.
-
SAD to see this happen to your Edge, GLAD to hear it's warrantied.
-
You can try cleaning the camera wiring connections. If there is any corrosion, apply some dielectric grease after cleaning and before reconnecting.
-
If you are going to tear into it that much, the coolant pump would be nice to do as well

Probably have to remove the glass then depress tabs to release the mirror cover (if it is like the 2007): Exterior Mirror GlassRemoval Position the exterior mirror glass in a downward position to obtain a gap at the top edge of the mirror. WARNING: Place a shop towel between the exterior mirror glass and the hand to avoid personal injury in case of glass breakage. Disengage the mirror glass. Insert a flat-blade screwdriver between the mirror glass tabs and the mounting plate and rotate to separate the locking tabs from the mounting plate. Continue to insert and rotate the screwdriver until the remaining mirror glass tabs separate from the mounting plate. Carefully pull the top edge of the glass away from the exterior mirror housing. If equipped, disconnect the heated mirror and auto-dimming electrical connectors and remove the glass. Exterior Mirror CoverRemove the exterior mirror glass. For additional information, refer to Exterior Mirror Glass in this section.Depress the 4 tabs and remove the exterior mirror cover.
