  1. I have not heard of this on a Gen 2 yet for any reason other than the battery. I would check cold cranking amps first. i assume no codes are read by a scan tool. the "smart system" will automatically regulate how much it is charging based on what the battery will accept. that could be one problem. are you anywhere in the recent snowstorm/deep freeze areas? that will affect battery ability to accept charge.
  2. @CrackedDSM did you ask if they would warranty their dyno/tune on other people's parts? normally they do not. just to be aware of whether you are on your own if something bad happens (G** forbid).
  3. possibly a missing or bad SD card, or a bad media hub. assuming you have dual climate controls + 8 inch screen WITH navigation? B1215:00 External Memory Card: No Sub Type Information Pinpoint Test H: Non-navigation units - The Media Hub Is Inoperative Or Has Poor Sound or Image Quality Refer to Wiring Diagrams Cell 130 , Audio System/Navigation for schematic and connector information. The media hub contains an internal 3 port Universal Serial Bus (USB) hub connected to 2 external USB ports for customer devices and 1 internal USB port that interfaces with the SD card reader. One USB cable connects the media hub to the APIM . The media hub also contains an internal composite audio/video translator connected to the external RCA jacks, which output video and audio signals to the APIM via a shielded audio and video harness. The media hub requires an external power and ground circuit to operate. Loss of power or ground disables all media hub functionality. DTC B1252:11 ( USB Port: Circuit Short to Ground) — sets when the APIM detects an over-current condition in the USB circuit. This can be caused by a fault in the USB cable and port, or by the customer USB device. DTC B1215:00 (External Memory Card: No Sub Type Information) — set by the APIM when it detects a device conflict through the media hub, a fault in the USB cable or media hub, or there is no SD card present when the vehicle is equipped with navigation. This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following: Wiring, terminals, or connectors Media hub Device conflict APIM Pinpoint Test M: Navigation Is Inoperative Normal Operation The Global Positioning System Module (GPSM) provides information from the GPS satellite system to the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM). This information is used to calculate vehicle position and direction of travel. Removal of the navigation SD card results in loss of navigation while the card is removed. This is normal operation. This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following: Navigation map SD card not present Network communication concern APIM GPSM
  4. don't know MY or engine, but assuming early Gen 1 3.5L ... 2009 coolant flow diagram
  5. i have had better luck with my aftermarket warranty that way. had a power steering leak on our Fusion, not covered. but to replace it, you have to replace the condenser (IIRC). so i convinced the shop, and they convinced the warranty co. if you can convince the shop, you can convince Ford. the shop seems to be the pivot point in such cases.
  6. Rooting for the fix to be in with the CHT sensor. Glad you dug in and hung on. Good service advisors are just as much a must as good techs.
  7. wait, say that again, "the smaller ..."
  8. whenever a new battery is installed, or when a drained battery is pulled to charge it externally, you need to reset the Battery Monitoring System. If you don't, the PCM will direct the alternator to keep charging the battery at the low rate that worked for the old battery. Turn engine off, unplug all accessories from the outlets, and make sure any aftermarket installed stuff is completely off. Do not use the remotes either. Let vehicle sit for 8+ hours in this manner, and the BMS should reset. Or you can use Forscan to reset it. Or have the dealer reset it. If you change battery types from SLA to AGM for example, I believe you can update that info as well.
  9. yes it looks like it will fit. for comparison, here is a listing from eBay for your MY https://www.ebay.com/itm/2007-2014-OEM-Ford-Edge-Explorer-Taurus-AWD-PTU-PTO-TRANSFER-CASE-DIFFERENTIAL/152727358358
  10. sorry to hear of your troubles! there are two types of cam sensors: the electronic ones near/under the intake tubing, and the mechanical wheels under the timing cover on the opposite side of the engine. MY guess is that they are talking about the wheels, not the actual sensors. If you have an invoice/estimate to post, it should have part numbers, which can be searched for and will confirm my thoughts on this question. If they DO have to go in, there are a number of components that should be changed, not just the wheels. But lets get them to put those codes on paper first.
  11. congratulations, and glad you like it so far! now, how about some visuals
  12. yes, people have replaced Sync 2 systems found in 2011-2014 Edge vehicles with aftermarket Android based systems by Pioneer, JVC, Kenwood etc. a popular upgrade is also to replace with Sync 3. not recommended to use those Tesla style screens you find so commonly for sale on eBay and Amazon nowadays. At least not if you want a responsive and uptodate system. Sync "4" will be on Android, Blackberry and Microsoft are history.
  13. 2007-2014 use the same PTU in the Edge. If the 2015 is from an MKX, then yes it is also the same. 2015+ Edges use a different PTU from earlier MYs.
  14. @Lj40 what year is your Edge? if 2011-2014, you have 3 electronic/programming options: try recalibrating the unit yourself, have the dealer reprogram it, or replace the blend door actuators.
  15. i think you were really contemplating a Turbo Boost over that entire section, while narrating your visit so "casually".
  16. don't bother with aftermarket. many have tried and lived to regret it. stick with motorcraft. get them from an online dealership to save money. input your VIN to get exact parts for your vehicle.
  17. check to see if the flex pipe in the exhaust is broken. happens a lot on 2011+.
  18. i would suggest you look through the Motorcraft OBD manual for 2012. that may prompt an understanding of why these codes are set and what the possible resolutions are. https://www.motorcraftservice.com/freeresources/obd An excerpt: If the proper ratio of CMP events to PIP events is not being maintained (for example, 1 CMP edge for every 8 PIP edges for an 8-cylinder engine), it indicates a missing or noisy CMP signal (P0340). On applications with Variable Cam Timing (VCT), the CMP wheel has five teeth to provide the VCT system with more accurate camshaft control. The microprocessor checks the CMP signal for an intermittent signal by looking for CMP edges where they would not be expected to be. If an intermittent is detected, the VCT system is disabled and a P0344 (CMP Intermittent Bank 1) or P0349 (CMP intermittent Bank 2) is set. codes are not be-all/end-all diagnostics. often they can be the starting link in a chain of events that when followed, leads to the true culprits. with that mindset, you can probably resolve this issue.
  19. sorry if this has already been asked, but what is the fluid change history? particularly coolant. Although unusual, this may be pointing to a timing job in the future, but can't say for sure.
