  1. They probably do SOMETHING, just not something you'd be happy with longterm, I think. There are a lot of devices out there that do specifically one thing or another to the parameters used by the ECU/PCM. But a tune built for your vehicle by a professional will still yield the best results because ALL the parameters have been addressed to work cohesively. And for the 3.5, improved shift strategies is really where the most gains lie, some in improved mpg, a little in power/torque. This is because of the limitations of the 6F50 trans, and the tendency of most people to set & forget maintenance intervals. If you drive your vehicle hard, you should shorten the intervals correspondingly, or expect parts to fail.
  2. If the "pleather" is Alcantara, that is a common issue, sadly. Doesn't require much maintenance, but like leather, regular cleaning & protecting will make it last that much longer.
  3. Anything to keep rolling along!!! But yeah, tires do pinch the wallet nowadays.
  4. If you don't get into the gas very much, regular should be fine. The only caution I would note here is that 87 may not truly be 87, even though the pump says so, due to variables at the gas station itself. Pick a high-volume station, and preferably a top tier gas station for fueling. When in doubt, go to the next higher octane level to provide proper "cushioning" to the engine. Especially true if you have summer & winter gas formulations.
  5. You could probably fill till it overflows, but then you should also install a vent tube extension such as in this TSB for the Taurus: As for the TSB: http://www.revbase.com/BBBMOTOR/TSb/DownloadPdf?id=171259 and the part in the TSB: AG1Z-7034-A Presumably the same part number fits the Edge, but verify at the counter. PTU fluid will expand, and it needs somewhere to go. By putting an extension tube on, you prevent it from puking unnecessarily.
  6. "Leather-faced" seating is very popular at Ford. Maybe at Lincoln, it is actually full leather?
  7. Welcome, great choice of rides, and nice start to the mods Yeah, hope the rattles are put to bed real quick.
  8. Welcome, mortndann, to you and your '15! What color & options did you pick?
  9. Welcome, Rob, congrats on the '13 Limited, looks great! Any pics of your "old toy"? What finally convinced you to pull the trigger?
  10. Updates, Dingo? Still happy with the PIAAs? Any further "mods"/adjustments needed/recommended?
  11. Welcome to the forum, Frank, congrats on picking up this nice ride
  12. Time for a multi-terabyte RAID array, sounds like to me

  14. How about some pics of the new stuff to cheer us all up, cmillz!!!
  15. Absolute replacement is 150,000 miles per the Ford guide. Inspections begin at 90,000 miles and every 30K thereafter. I'd get a second opinion to make sure, but with the Edge being in AZ, I can see the need for earlier than normal replacement interval.
  16. Then look for a bad wheel bearing, macbwt can confirm this, but I believe that's the side that most often goes bad on the Edge?
  17. I don't know if the PCV valve change would help or not, but it is easiest to do when the spark plugs are done, as it sits on the firewall side valve cover. It SHOULD be changed though, because if it is gunked up, pressure will build up inside the engine until it finds an outlet, typically through engine seals. Is there any "location" to the sound? Does it seem to come from the engine bay, the passenger compartment, driver side, passenger side, etc.? Is the rumbling only between 25-30 mph? Or does it continue from then on as speed increases? Any loss of power?
  18. Could certainly be a PTU issue, usually you will hear gear whine, and if bad enough, grinding. Did you smell and gear oil or oily smells prior to this event? It is more likely there is wheel bearing failure though, given the symptoms. How many miles on your Edge, and when were the spark plugs and PCV valve changed last? Any codes stored in the PCM? Is the Edge under load when the symptoms occur, such as accelerating while driving uphill or carrying extra passengers etc.?
  19. Sorry you are experiencing this issue! I assume there are no codes set since the dealership should have seen them otherwise. Safest course of action is still replacing the TB yourself and keeping the receipt for reimbursement in the event of a recall (unlikely, I know, but ...). At least you will get a 2/24 warranty with the new throttle body
  20. Congrats on the X, and GLWS!
