Isn't the tach digital in the 2011? The cranking should be between 150 & 350 rpm. The FSM doesn't show where the inertia switch function is located on the 2011 (or at least I am not able to find it). On some models, it is a function of the Restraints Control Module (RCM), but it is not showing there either. When did you take the voltage reading of the battery? Everything off, or on a previous run where the Edge was running well, or ...? Should be around 12.6V with everything off, and 13.5-14.5V with the engine running (idle-2,500 rpm).

The fuel pump relay COULD be bad, it is commonly pulled when you want to crank the engine without the fuel system firing. Seems like what you are experiencing here. What is the cranking RPM? Did the Edge suddenly stop responding on previous trips? I assume no codes available ... The electronic throttle body could be suspect. Yeah, you have to get an adapter to test the fuel pressure mechanically. They killed the Schrader valve feature in 2010, apparently. I mean why should they make this easy, right? The easiest thing to suspect is fuel pump, or bad wiring between the fuel pump and the fuse box/control module somewhere. Maybe the connectors are corroded and need cleaning/replacement.

How many miles on your Edge? Does the fuel pump prime with the key in the ON position (but not started)? Checked fuel pressure at idle, before start (after sitting overnight), and after shutoff (15, 30, 60 min after)? And of course, since the 2011 brought many electrical gremlins, condition of battery/alternator? Any problems with the CD skipping, or with the shifter not shifting properly?

That IS a bummer! Time to find an adapter Did they come off a BMW or something? Can the mud guards be trimmed? EDIT: I just remembered, the Fusion uses H7 bulbs. Which Osram bulbs do you have specifically? How much life left? Post some pics if you wanna trade 'em off, I have the Phillips already, but don't mind picking up another set. -

AWD or FWD, MJB3? Certainly sounds like a baffle-ish issue. -

Had the joy of driving in hot weather without a working fan As soon as I started the AC, the fan came on full strength and then quit. Everytime I tried to restart the fan, it just rumbled, and grumbled, but threw out very little air. So, decision time! Replace the fan myself, or get it done under warranty ... -
Sorry to hear, and good luck!

Welcome, Hermans, quite the Ford/Lincoln family! How do you like your rides so far, can you give us a comparative review?
-
Def ask them what Synblend oil they are using. You'd be surprised what the dealers use for "bulk oil".

This thread might have something for you: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/12731-radiator-fan-assembly-replacement-procedure/

Pretty big difference for just octane. Ford must really be pulling timing on the 87 tune.
-
True, but since oil has an ever-increasing number of functions to perform in the Ecoboost engine, it helps to err on the side of caution. If you can be guided by a UOA (such as from Blackstone), that works too. So if oil life is confirmed as good up to 10,000 miles, go forth & apply! But I have my doubts that the Motorcraft filter will last that long, 5K for sure it will be a solid performer. If you want to go 10K, assuming the SynBlend oil holds up, use a fully synthetic extended drain interval filter, or at least replace just the filter and any oil that is lost during the filter change. So 5K = filter change, 10K = oil & filter change, 15K = filter change, etc.
-
Enthusiastic drivers should follow the SPECIAL OPERATING CONDITIONS part of the schedule, esp if you use Synthetic Blend engine oil, instead of a quality full synthetic. PTU & RDU fluids remain to be proved out if they are any different from 2007-14.

Great service Sidebar. Pikes Peak and no pics will net you negative karma points, just so you know -
Good you found it They use a lot of noise dampeners nowadays, so there could actually be a foam block missing somewhere from the last time they tried to fix. On the 3.5EB, there is a a foam/rubber block underneath the intake manifold, might be something similar on the 2.7EB. If you could post detailed pics of the engine bay (sans appearance cover), we could compare with other Sport owners to see what might be visually indicated. TIA.
-
Cabin air filter checked? Does the rattle occur when you have the climate control/blower off?
-
Any recent service? Check to see if the cover on the HPFP is secured in place (will need to remove engine appearance cover to check).

Didn't even think about it, TBH. I should have tried, but this being the main power distribution box, I would have been leery anyway. Sensors & stuff, sure, wouldn't wanna take the risk of blowing the nerve center. Probably baseless paranoia, but there you have it -

Thought I'd replace the fuses on the power points (underhood, 64-66, 20A), as the amperages coming through on my USB charger were dismally low. Boy, was it a struggle to get the old fuses out! The plastic top came off every one of them. Then I had to grab each side with a needlenose and rock back & forth to remove. Still managed to break the casing a little. New fuses went in, but not without effort. T-I-G-H-T! -
If you want a gentler ride on larger wheels, find a tire with the characteristics you want (e.g. softer sidewall). Reviews at TireRack, for instance. More than likely will lose some handling ability, not a lot, but some.
