  1. LOL! So, speak the truth, how many tickets are we talking in your portfolio? The MTXs were/are like to be pushed hard, for the most part, never did a burnout in one though. Yeah, I wish the V8's had had a bit more power to them. But the engine bay still looks great, and there were some nice improvements in suspension. Bits and pieces from the Gen 3 make the Gen 2 SO much better!
  2. Edge > Focus anyday, except for mpg's LOL! You had Gen 3 SHOs?
  3. Welcome to the forum & Edge ownership, zilla, congrats on a very nice looking ride! This is the Limited trim level? AWD/FWD?
  4. Is Kicker going out of business? Discontinuing the MUSTANG kit? Or are they just losing sales to higher end products?
  5. Sounds like you have good tires on there at least, even if different brands. As far as tread evaluation etc, that is not the only defining characteristic of a tire's handling capabilities. for AWD, it is always going to be recommended to have all 4 changed at once, and to keep the tires rotated. What is current tread depth on the tires? But if the wheel tire height is the same, and there is sufficient tread on the tires (will depend on your conditions what that amount is), then usually the front tires will wear out more because this is really a FWD platform. If you keep them rotated, then you will be replacing all 4 at the same time. If you don't (not advisable on AWD), put the rear tires on the front, and new tires on the back. The AWD system is sensitive to differences in wheel/tire height at a certain point. But I think it defaults to FWD if it senses an issue in that regard. You'll know when it happens, very noticeable.
  6. Foaming coil cleaner is the best way to clean the upper tube (from the joint at the console to the evaporator). Also check and clean under the windshield cowl, as well as replace the cabin air filter. With all of this done, the problem SHOULD be mitigated/resolved, IF it is related to only the AC.
  7. These tests were done from a cold start? If so, can you repeat them with a hot start, i.e., after the engine is warmed up? I dont normally rev the engine when its cold, but it's been like 90F mornings here lately, so an acceptable compromise I guess. I will check for myself in cold start conditions and post later. If you have access to synthetic TC-W3, that is preferred, because the additive package will be better. Technically as along as the product meets the TC-W3 specifications, it should work. Maybe you can test to see the difference for yourself.
  8. I think every "generation" of Edge has something to offer. You just have to decide what you need, and what you want. For me, it was equally important to have warranty coverage, especially on the items known most frequently to go bad. For example, if you have AWD, I would want the PTU/driveshaft/RDU covered. If you have a 2011-14, I would want APIM, brake booster (extended warranty from Ford BTW), door latch, throttle body, and shifter coverage. Or build in a budget for it, or be an avid DIY'r to save money. Meticulous maintenance records are a huge +, especially if you see brake flushes, trans flushes etc in the history.
  9. With Forscan, you can track the TP1 PID, which shows you the TPS response to input. Technically speaking, the acceleration pedal position sensor is the first input to the PCM when you press the gas pedal. So you should track APP1, APP2, and APP3 also. Together they give you a better picture of the car's responsiveness to your inputs. Log the data and graph it. TP1 and APP1 should look similar; APP2 & APP3 should follow each other closely, and be the mirror image of APP1. Should look something like this: Note that this graph is drawn from driving around data, but for a real test, you should provide as few variables as possible. So map out what data points you want to capture, then log them. For example, idle with no pedal input. Idle to 2000 rpm with steadily increasing input. Idle to 2000 rpm with a throttle snap. Hold at 2000 rpm for 10 seconds. That kind of thing. Then you get an idea of the responsiveness of the TP and APP sensors. Unfortunately, on this generation of the Edge, we don't have a way to track injector performance individually through software, a digital voltmeter is required. Ecoboost engines you can.
  10. Correct. The oil is supposed to burn cleanly and lubricate engine parts/fuel system in two stroke engines. We are taking advantage of the lubrication properties when adding it to the fuel for the Edge. Should help fuel injectors work better over time. Does work when other products do not. May take a few tankfuls back to back for full effect. Remember that is 4 ounces per tank, not 4 ounces per gallon!!! If that still does not help, definitely try replacing the TPS.
  11. I would talk to the Service Manager, have him/her straighten it out. If that doesn't work, you should be able to escalate directly via Ford.
  12. Post up an intro for yourself in this subforum, if you like: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/forum/10-welcome-forum/
  13. Might be worth changing the Throttle Position Sensor on the throttle body, since you already tried cleaning the TB. If you can find some two stroke oil that meets the TC-W3 spec, try adding that 4 oz/tankful to the fuel (oil first, then fuel up). See if that helps. Made a difference on mine.
  14. Strange. PremiumCARE says "Shifter - Transmission Gear Shift Control" is covered. How much did the dealership charge you, do you have a deductible?
  15. Congrats on picking up an Edge so early in the cycle, I wish BMW would bring back something like the 850 ... We are kind of starved for pics of the European Edge, so would love to see some of the Titanium's! Is the 2.0 naturally aspirated or turbocharged? Should at least hook well off the line, right? Turbo is the way Ford is headed, for better or worse.
  16. Welcome & congrats! Great to hear you did not give up on the Edge, and with any luck, the 2016 will be AWESOME! Which engine did you get, and is it AWD/FWD?
  17. It should if the warranty literature says so. Exactly what warranty do you have? Ford's ESP plan brochure, for example http://www.factoryplans.com/assets/cms/files/brochure_FordESPPlanOptions.pdf BaseCARE and up. But I think you should not have to pay a deductible when there is the 13N02 to lean on. ESP is now replaced by Ford Protect, FYI.
  18. Welcome! You have a very "young" Edge The first thing to do is to pull codes from the PCM (computer). Codes can be set without setting a check engine light. The easiest thing is to try running a couple of tankfuls of Techron Concentrate Plus fuel system cleaner, back to back. Also, drain&fill of trans fluid (Motorcraft Mercon V or a quality substitute brand) would eliminate another possible source of the issue (it's hard to tell engine/trans issues apart sometimes). If it happens even at cruise, there could be an intermittent issue with torque converter lockup. Does your Edge have AWD?
  19. Whaaa ...? Your 2008, like my 2007, uses Mercon V for trans fluid. But yeah, it is unclear to me what has changed other than fuel economy stuff as far as the trans is concerned. Since these transmissions are heavily dependent on electronic controls, it's very possible that the programming plays a role in this as well. Let's see what ATRA experts have to say ...
  20. Is your Edge equipped with a 3.5L engine? This is where we have seen the issues on the Gen 2.
  21. Do you know where the Edge was being brought in from? If they did not bring it in on a trailer, but rather drove it in, that would explain the mileage. If you noted the VIN, you could run a Carfax for yourself or make the dealer run it. Prior ownership will show up there. Having the VIN will also let you explore that vehicle's build date and features on https://www.etis.ford.com
