  1. When you say surging, you actually feel the surging, or is the RPM simply fluctuating? The lockup/overdrive area is tricky to work with. Do you experience the same issues with O/D off?
  2. Then its likely the undercarriage was never washed. If it was, the salt would not have a chance to accumulate and cause the damage you posted about. Some (surface) rust is of course going to happen regardless. It happens on the brake rotors, but the rotors get scraped clean every time you brake.
  3. Wow, that is a LOT, but knowing that the Edge is from Michigan, quite possibly "normal". How many miles on the Edge? I am surprised there are no rust spots on the hood, at/near the chromework, etc. The previous owner definitely did not wash their vehicle regularly, which is a must in states that salt roads for the winter ... Don't be surprised if you have brake work ahead as well.
  4. I think you have to go in through the pass side wheelwell to access it, should be close to the wastegate/bypass valve. Will check. Item Description Comments 1 Turbocharger - 2 Turbocharger sensor assembly - 3 Turbocharger wastegate regulating valve solenoid - 4 Turbocharger bypass valve - 5 Pressure side of compressor -
  5. Does make a difference! Thanks for the addn'l info on the install
  6. I have used the iCar (V2 I think?) and Veepeak products, and both perform similarly as WiFi OBD adapters. On iOS expect around 60ms response times.
  7. Do you have Lincoln dealerships in Brasil? You could try talking to them instead. It is effective here in the U.S., no idea about elsewhere in the world tho ,,,
  8. Ok, did you perform the module actuator position calibration in the prev post in this thread: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/20436-ac-stuck-on-hot/?do=findComment&comment=155373 Step 5 on, I believe.
  9. Welcome, Steve, and congrats on the new ride (how many miles, what color). Problems with SYNC are overblown, IMHO, but yes there can be quite a learning curve. Most common issues with the Gen 1 Edge: PTU failure - probably due to insufficient capacity and the Ford-recommended lifetime fluid (NOT!) Wheel bearing failure (a real pain when it's a rear wheel bearing) Cooling fan failure - replace with new fan AND new fan control module (OEM/Motorcraft is best) PCM failure - due to spark plugs not being replaced on time, which fries the coils, which in turn fry the PCM (new plugs & PCV valve ASAP recommended) Evaporator drain blockage (can cause sloshing sound in the dash on sharp turns) that can overflow into & fry the blower motor (I am sure others will chime in with more) Really, reading the TSBs, recalls, etc is a great way to get acquainted with your vehicle. The chrome cladding on the wheels tends to hold a lot of dirt & grime that over time can throw the balance off. If you find noise & vibration from the wheels that no alignment can solve, the cladding may need to be removed.
  10. Welcome to the forum, Sagitarius, good luck with your quest! Do you have US spec turbo'd gasoline engines as an option, or also the 3.5L naturally aspirated one also?
  11. You reinitialized the HVAC module?
  12. This might be an issue if water backs up enough to pour into the blower, causing partial or full failure. Check the cabin air filter.
  13. IF it is a bad cat, the cat has broken up pieces inside that would likely set off a check engine light, and even cause loss of power because that side of the exhaust id clogged. Poor mileage would be snother confirmation. Some say the pieces can be sucked back into the engine. But IDK. I suppose if the exhaust is highly modified it is possible. Best to have a mechanic check out the unfernody/suspension/exhaust on a lift. Somehow something could have gotten trapped in there.
  14. The first thing that comes to mind (similar) is marbles rolling around, and that usually means a catalyst has gone bad. From the location, it would be the Bank 1 catalyst in this case. Unless something got dropped into the center console, not sure what else it could be. I have seen it posted elsewhere that it might be engine knock or detonation if bad enough.
  15. Possibly an exhaust shield, if it sounds tinny. How many miles on your Edge? FWD or AWD? Any recent service or "incidents" or other issues?
  16. Both radiator fans should run on full with MAX A/C engaged. If they are not, that would be the problem right there. Replacements should work perfect if Motorcraft (fan & control module). If you decide to go with aftermarket, I would at least retain the original control module in case the module that comes with the Am fans does not work.
  17. Do you have dual zone climate control? Was the heat working before? Check the coolant level first, even a 1/2-1 inch below the COLD FULL line can affect performance. If it looks ok there, it could be the HVAC module needs resetting, OR there is actually a physical issue with the coolant flow through the heater core. One member very recently had to have their module reprogrammed to get it working, so that is a real possibility. I don't know if pulling a fuse and resetting it that way will help but it is worth a try. Fuse 37 on the non-turbo and Fuse 46 on the turbo engined Edge, in the passenger compartment fuse panel under the driverside dash.
  18. Pesky emblems? Or simply want to replace them? Here is a how-to guide for 2011-14 (and probably 2007-10 also), thanks to strike2tamu: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/14629-front-emblem-removal-with-pics/
  19. At least you'll be comfortable while doing it ... LOL!
  20. Off topic, but how long have you had your Accel coils on, autom8r, and do you think they are worth the investment?
  21. this is what the FSM is showing me for 2011, should be same for 2012 (be careful with lb-in vs lb-ft): FRONT Torque Specifications Description Nm lb-ft lb-in Bleeder screw 8 — 71 Brake caliper anchor plate bolts 133 98 — Brake caliper flow bolt 25 18 — Brake caliper guide pin bolts 88 65 — Brake flexible hose bracket bolt 20 — 177 Brake tube fitting 17 — 150 REAR Torque Specifications Description Nm lb-ft lb-in Bleeder screw 8 — 71 Brake caliper anchor plate bolts 133 98 — Brake caliper flow bolt 25 18 — Brake caliper guide pin bolts 88 65 — Brake flexible hose bracket bolt 20 — 177 Brake tube fitting 17 — 150
