  1. No pan on the Edge. The filter is a "permanent" screen, and is accessible only by cracking open the case halves.
  2. Hey Tacyon! Greatly saddened to see this happen to you and your Edge. But as noted, very glad you have made it through and definitely praying for a quick and full recovery. Positive thoughts, and best wishes.
  3. Huh? None of the explanations make any sense to me, but ... The 2011 at least if not the 2011-14 Edge did have a PCV issue with oil getting past the throttle plate and into the intake tube. That is the most likely source of the oil in the airbox. The PCV system does not produce much oil vapor, but I suppose it was somehow compromised from the start, that could possibly do it. Maybe the "new" throttle body and/or sensor was/is faulty. How much oil was found btw? Fingers crossed, I have not had issues at all on my 2007 with oil in the intake tube. Date ReportedJANUARY 01, 2014 NHTSA Reference#10055042 TSB Reference#ASI-44354 Description: FORD/LINCOLN: AN ACCUMULATION OF OIL, IN LEFT HAND VALVE COVER BAFFLE, MIGRATING THROUGH FRESH AIR INTAKE OF POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) SYSTEM, MAY HAVE ENGINE OIL IN INTAKE AIR SYSTEM COMPONENTS. MODEL 2011-2013 EDGE, EXPLORER

  5. Figuring out where to cut for the access port will be the hard part. If the fuel tank has otherwise remained identical to previous MYs, you could get measurements off a previous MY Edge for that. FWD AWD
  6. That sucks! Seems like 2010 is a crossover year in many ways, because 2007-09 have the in-cabin access port. Here is the official procedure for the 2010, and it confirms the need to drop the tank. 7. Never enough thanks given nor acknowledgements made. Happy Veterans Day, and to those in service and those that have served.
  8. The Edge is still a front wheel drive platform, and it is very likely it is still driving the front axles only 90% of the time, Though the driveshaft may be spinning and ready to go for full AWD action, the clutch packs in the rear axle will not be engaged.
  9. Are you using the cheaper, worm type clamps. You may want to use OEM style spring clamps instead, or even T-Bolt clamps. Either of these will not put undue pressure on plastic parts so no danger of breakage.
  10. the front three are easily accessible once you take the appearance cover off. the back 3 are under the intake manifold and those take the most time to get to & replace. It can take DIY'rs up to 2 hrs to do all the plugs & coils, pretty straightforward. So I would say 2 hours of labor is more than fair for an experienced mechanic. You may still get charged through the wazoo on parts, so you should look at overall cost, not just parts or just labor. OEM parts are best to use.
  11. Just about a year. It's a bit noisy, so I have to really pick the time of day carefully. Used it once so far bcoz of that, sigh. Still quieter than the gas powered ones I have heard in YT videos. I wouldn't expect durability to be any better, without willingness to do DIY maintenance.
  12. I only ask because on their aggressive tunes, such as the RACE tune they put on the SHO, they say 109 octane gas, so ...
  13. Electric - cheap and convenient. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003YKVGS8/ I don't expect to use it much. I have been using the Gilmour unit instead, maybe next year.
  14. Welcome Elsengaby, how many KMs do you have on your Edge? That's a lot of engine work! Did a garage do it or did you do it yourself? Unplug the VCT solenoid connector and clean it out. Put some dielectric grease in the connector and firmly plug it back in. What oil do you run in the engine? Since you say the garage added a different lubricant, maybe that IS the problem. I would change out the oil again, make sure there is no coolant in the oil, use Total lubricant, and see if the code goes away. Lubricants/additives can cause a lot of problems, so it is best to put in the best oil in the first place. Also, did you change the VCT solenoids and phasers when the engine was opened up to change the water pump? Those would be the most likely reasons why this code was triggered. VCT solenoids are oil pressure actuated, and they have filters that can get clogged if the incorrect weight oil is used and/or the oil is not changed regularly. Try doing a KAM reset to make the PCM relearn how the engine currently operates. This video shows you how to do a KAM reset: KAM resets should be done after any electrical changes or disconnections (however small/short) if there continue to be problems.
