  1. I will add Kwik Stop/Kwik Star to the list of "good fuel" places. And in my area, Sunoco and "discount" brands are selling at the same or GREATER prices than top tier like Shell & BP. World upside down or what LOL.
  2. And a coolant change within 500 miles. Coolant and degas bottle should look clean & clear with no visible contamination.
  3. Welcome, Conestoga, so sorry to hear! How many miles on your Edge? When was the last coolant change? You should probably look for a used, low-mileage engine to drop in, just in case.
  4. Thanks for closing the loop, and best of luck with the sale!
  5. Is the engine (and trans) fully warmed up when this happens? Could be trans related, and there may be a PCM update to address it. Check with the dealer while in for service.
  6. Not advocating removal of the converters by any means. But how are you getting 400 hp from the stock exhaust on a 2008? Even with a tune you cannot do that. On the 2.7EB, yes, not on the 3.5 non-TiVCT engine. Anyway, the trans will probably give in by then LOL.
  7. Catalytic converters as designed from the factory are not high-flow, that would cost too much probably. High flow replacements usually gain you noticeable hp/tq, not like gobs & gobs of it, but enough.
  8. The seal around the torque converter housing has also been known to leak, so that is another possibility.
  9. Thankfully Ford has finally moved the Edge out of the people-mover category with the Gen 2
  10. Silverado tires probably had more sidewall and tread on them. Summer tires will be more prone to "accidents".
  11. You are right to take it for a second opinion. And also up your glass insurance, because BAMRs are expensive.
  12. Never have to pay list price, buy online from the dealership! http://www.LevittownFordSuperCenter.com, and browse. They sponsor this forum You can also enter a request in their thread, and Benny will get you what you need. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/10937-employee-pricing-on-all-parts-accessories/
  13. No failure attributed to valve train coking on the 3.5 EB either. It's just that slow aging process that you don't notice until you are pretty far along. Mileage and performance suffer that slow decline, spark plugs want to give up the ghost but the computer keeps them firing ... Robbing Peter to pay Paul.
  14. The SYNC issue may be an APIM issue which has an extended Ford warranty under their Customer Satisfaction Program. The throttle body issue will set a code in the PCM (the computer) that unfortunately resets with a restart. Next time that happens, have your Edge towed to the dealership. OR, since the throttle body is so cheap, buy it and replace yourself or have a trusted mechanic (non-dealership) or friend replace it. It is very simple to do. That way you have peace of mind right off the bat. The power steering issue seems to the the odd one out of the lot on your list. Really not bad (except TB) at all. I just hope the door latch issue keeps its' distance!
  15. Chris Fix has an interesting video series on such products (youtube). Anyway, the thing to remember is, if the problem is mild-moderate, over time, these products can be somewhat effective. But if the problem is moderate-severe, then you really shouldn't be trying to clean anything while the engine is turned on/vehicle is in motion. If chunks break off, that can have major downstream consequences for the exhaust system, and much worse in turbocharged engines. At that point, it would be best to take the lower intake manifold off and clean the valves cylinder by cylinder. Cleaning the piston tops is a different challenge, they can be cleaned in non-DI engines through the spark plug hole, with patience and persistence. So Techron CP type products should be considered more "preventive" than "curative". And it does not hurt to change the oil shortly after you have run through that tank. Yes the byproducts in the oil may be minimal, but why risk it. So time the cleaning accordingly.
  16. EB engines need "goose-ing" once in a while to help prevent carbon buildup on the backs on the intake valves. Can be something as simple as that. Slugging the engine really is to no benefit, let the computer do its' job.
  17. Welcome, remo76 ,congrats, and be sure to post pics of your new ride!
  18. I knew it wouldn't take long to sell the 33, that was a gorgeous vehicle! Definitely put up pics of your "new" 34! http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/1730-post-pics-of-your-other-rides/
  19. You can effectively the Trip 2 timer as your Hobbs meter, I believe. I have not used the timers on my 2007, but I really should LOL.
  20. Most people will just drive fast and create avalanches behind them ...
