  1. There are different levels of Techron products. For longterm cleaning (ie 1 bottle in 3 months to a year), you would use Techron Concentrate Plus, for example. If you were throwing Techron ProGard with the non top tier fuel, that would probably be better, but even then it would go for 1,000 miles, no need to do with every tankful. Can't say nonTT fuel + Techron = Chevron, but it certainly would be a much improved product. Since the base fuel is only produced by a few refineries, and the main difference is detergents, you would think so, right? But with any station, the difference is going to be the transport tankers and how well they are maintained. Never pump gas if you see the tanker at the station. All the sediment in the tank will have been stirred up and will end up in YOUR vehicle's fuel tank. Ugh. Instead, I WOULD use synthetic marine oil like TC-W3 or the Marvel Mystery Oil, usually at 1 oz of the product to every 5 gallons of fuel pumped. Add before pumping fuel, first tank doesn't matter, but if you add on the second tank as well, then you need to know how much to add. These products burn cleanly and have lubricating properties that help injectors and fuel pumps stay happy despite winter fuel. Always look for a busy station because even if non Top Tier, the fuel has had less chance to go stale/pick up contaminants from the storage tanks.
  2. Didn't you own an edge in 2012? And it's kinda hard for anyone to help you when you generally don't respond to their comments/questions. The Edge has AWD, not 4WD, but still should have worked on slick roads. Sometimes it will get all confused because it can't find traction on any wheel, in which case turning off Traction Control is needed. There might be electronic gremlins in your Edge, though, ones the computer does not know what to do with. Which Ford dealer did you go to? Lithia Ford or somewhere else?
  3. Do you have a sunroof/BAMR, Stratoblaster? Clogged drains in the sunroof have been down to lead water down into the passenger side of the cabin in the Taurus.
  4. Welcome, looking forward to seeing pics of your new ride when it comes in!
  5. Welcome, great story and gorgeous color!
  6. That post is solid gold, omar, thank you! trockli, you need a new dealership to work with Anyway it seems we need to move up to agm batteries to get a good service life these days.
  7. Is the 2014 new to you, toast? Is it an Ecoboost or the 3.5L engine?
  8. The first generation 2.0EBs are notoriously dirty engines. Using full synthetic low volatility oil is a good preventative.
  9. It's supposed to go to alternate cylinder firing, thus initiating air cooling, when such an overheat occurs. Of course, this is very limited protection, and am glad it worked out for you!
  10. It is definitely a frustrating issue. I would put a device on the battery to shut off all :accessory" power after a certain amount of drain. As a failsafe. Too many modules, and shifter, and CD player, etc. that are in play.
  11. LaminX makes some good appliques for headlights and taillights. If you wanted to paint them instead, I assume you could DIY after thoroughly masking them off, with plastic paint & clearcoat after. VHT has been another goto for a sprayon product, but apparently it doesn't last very long either.
  12. They should have pulled codes at least, but anyway, let's see how long this paradise lasts ... Any chance they updated the PCM or disconnected the battery for some time prior to your experiencing the rough idle issue?
  13. Thank you If you have any pics and could upload them, that'd be a bonus!
  14. I would first exchange out the power steering fluid with good fluid. I know macbwt used Mercon LV in his 2011, but the spec is still Mercon V. Your choice. All you need is a turkey baster, a used oil receptacle, and at least 1 quart (pref 2) of Mercon V. Suction out the old fluid (engine off). Do not take out so much fluid you cannot see it in the bottom of the reservoir anymore. After filling the new fluid to the FULL mark, turn the engine on and work the steering wheel lock to lock a few times. Then repeat the process a couple more times. Should be good after that. Let's see if it makes a difference, I think it should.
  15. Sorry to hear about the incident! Hope they get it fixed up good as new.
  16. Gotcha. Do they also feel the steering effort is high? Any other issues noted?
  17. Good info :thumb: Hope you will be getting into another Edge soon!
  18. That would be long enough to "lose touch" with the feel of the Edge steering. Some vehicles have more assist than others, and when I first started driving mine, it took me a while to get used to it. That aside, did the fluid look clean, didn't smell burnt, etc.? If that is good also, then maybe the feel will loosen up with some drive time. Cars really don't like being stored for long periods of time. They have to be exercised regularly to "stay in shape".
  19. This thread may be of some help to you: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/12851-brightest-leds/
  20. If you use a polish, use only finishing polish so as to protect the clearcoat.
  21. No known issues. But if there is a leak in the lines, fluid could be low. Check the reservoir fluid level, top off as needed, and check underneath for leaks. How long is "a while"?
  22. Corrosion happens in the absence of battery protection products/felt pads. Clean it up good and away you go. Not sure why it appears that blue, might have more copper in it than normal. Hopefully it is not bad enough to have to replace terminals/cables. As far as warranty, since the dealer installed it, it should have the longest warranty offered by Ford (7 years?), IF you paid for the battery. Otherwise, I am not sure ... should at least clean it up 4 u. If not replace it entirely. Make sure they do a load test on the battery after cleaning it up, in your presence.
