What does a P0016 have to do with water pump failure? Video
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to macbwt's topic in 3.5L
Do the PTU fluid change within 1 year/10K miles, then at least every 3/36. I think that would keep any issues from cropping up. Not sure on capacity exactly though ... I think yours may have a drain plug, not sure, the Sport definitely does. If you do have your Edge on a lift and can grab some pics of the PTU from different angles, that would answer many a question for owners with Gen 2's with AWD. TIA.- 10 replies

Middle East - does ford limit speed on the Edge?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in 2013 Edge & MKX
For my 2007, I see Less Safety Packs and Less Ambient Temp/Speed Pack but that's it. No mention before 2014 either. But you are correct, for 2015, they do display the 2 parameters you mentioned, interesting! Why would they do that? Always there, just never displayed? -
Middle East - does ford limit speed on the Edge?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in 2013 Edge & MKX
Have never seen a limiter mentioned on any of the build sheets I have seen on ETIS. I suppose that's optional/"need to know" info, can be pulled up from the PCM for sure, since tuners can limit the limiter -

Power Take Off units, transfer cases, differentials all terms that apply. I only posted the Engine part of it since you asked about the coolant pump. There's more text in the PDF regarding transmission etc also.- 10 replies

Middle East - does ford limit speed on the Edge?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in 2013 Edge & MKX
I have someone saying 70 mph or so. I dont know if the OEM tires are rated at that tho. -
Does anyone know if there is a factory-set limiter on speed in Edge vehicles shipped to the Middle East? I am thinking this is a MyKey phenomenon, but maybe not? TIA!

Ask Benny Once he has your Edge's VIN number should be pretty straightforward.

Is the Torx screw necessary to put back in? I thought it was for factory production reasons only? -

Coolant sump? You mean the degas bottle? Good question, but I believe not. The computer definitely makes its' decisions based on cylinder head temperature, and if a warning does pop up, immediately stop off in a safe location and do not attempt to restart the engine. Tow to your nearest dealer. Yes, coolant pump failure should be covered by the standard powertrain warranty. http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/Catalog/owner_information/2017-Ford-Car-Light-Truck-Warranty-version-2_frdwa_EN-US_05_2016.pdf- 10 replies

Replacing the ugly BLUE FORD EMBLEM
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to olperez1's topic in Accessories & Modifications
A heat gun/hair dryer and some floss/fishing line should be all you need to get the old one to come off. -
Welcome! Maintenance and recalls will always be first on the list for any "used" vehicle under consideration. Seeing as how this Edge is potentially 11 years old, hard to say if the mileage is "easy"/highway or "mixed"/city/highway. My biggest concern would be whether the coolant was flushed at 105K, and whether the transmission fluid has been flushed/exchanged (exchanged hopefully). Then there's the spark plugs (90K I think), belts, etc. This generation of Edge is known to eat wheel bearings, particularly in the rear. Rear wheel bearings are expensive parts as they AND the control arm have to be replaced to fix the issue. If the price is right, you can afford maintenance if you DIY.

2012 Edge SEL amp location?

Not sure, but if there is one, it will be behind the subwoofer speaker behind the quarter trim panel (rear passenger side of the cargo area). -
Welcome to the community, John, chefduane makes an excellent suggestion for DIY'rs! How many miles on your wife's Edge, do you have any pics to share? As far as maintenance help, two resources that might help right off the bat: FORDTECHMAKULOCO https://www.youtube.com/user/FordTechMakuloco/videos and specifically for the Ford Edge (MACTFORDEDGE) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJb7karK2nhyA7G1BW6xESg/videos For OEM Parts & questions, ask Benny @ LevittownFordSuperCenter http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/10937-employee-pricing-on-all-parts-accessories/ See what the Edge came with https://www.etis.ford.com

No Power Leaving From Red Light and Check Engine Light
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to tamugrad2013's topic in EcoBoost Mod & Tech
Replacing the HPFP itself is not a big deal, but if the manual calls for replacing the pipe, and the dealer is doing things by the book, you should have gotten a new pipe installed for the price you paid. Just my 2 cents. NOTE: To release the fuel pressure in the high-pressure fuel tube, wrap the fuel injection pump flare nut with a shop towel to absorb any residual fuel pressure during the loosening of the fuel injection pump flare nut. NOTE: Make sure that a new high pressure fuel tube is installed. https://www.fordpartsgiant.com/parts/ford-tube-asy_cj5z-9j323-b.html?Make=Ford&Model=Edge&Year=2013&Submodel=&Filter=(30600)&Location=fuel-injectors-and-pipes,,9J285 -
Welcome to the community, Courtney, nice ride! As forums go, this one is pretty informative & helpful, but the downside is that you will statistically hear more about issues than you will about raves, just the nature of things. Don't let that make you wary/leery though I think of it as preparation for "in case".

WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to normcloutier's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Rears are the absolute worst on the Edge, due to the emergency brake, the brake distribution control which uses rears up faster than fronts, and of course the rust mentioned above. Calipers freeze and have to be replaced all the time, so greasing the slide pins regularly should be on your schedule, at least yearly I'd say. And do replace rotors and pads together, this will optimize the bedding in of the pads to the rotor. If you know a trustworthy place that will turn the existing rotors, you can go that route as well, checking the rotor thickness is needed as also mentioned above.
